Hello all. I’m looking for recommendations for a place to stay for a family trip to Atlanta. We are going to hit up a Braves game, but also want to hit up some kid friendly things the remainder of our stay (aquarium). Can you recommend a place that will be easy per se to get to the game and other activities? There is only three of us and it’s for our son’s birthday so just trying to figure out logistics and such. Thanks for any tips!

  • What other things are you wanting to do? Are you going to be driving or flying into town? Truist isn't really what I would consider "close" to other kinds of attractions so you'd have to plan on taking a Marta bus I'd imagine.

We will be driving but was hoping not to drive that much. Would you recommend staying closer to the attractions? What are the options for getting to the game?

Driving is your only option or uber/lyft if you stay away from the stadium.

Marta doesn’t go to the stadium because the stadium is outside the city. I’d recommend staying in the city so it’s easy to get to everything else and the one thing that’s a pain is getting to the stadium. Parking at the stadium is a total scam. It’s $30 to park and then a 20 minute one way hike to the stadium. I’d uber to the park. They drop you off right at the battery. After the game, mess around in the battery a bit and the uber prices will go back down to normal

  • Not sure of the hotel prices but there are tons downtown area if you're looking for things to do family friendly. Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, Civil Rights Museum, College Football Hall of Fame. Then there are other things like Jimmy Carter Center, MLK, Fernbank, High Museum of Art, Atlanta Zoo, Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Just to name a few things off the top of my head. There are some newer hotels in that downtown area like Hilton Signa, Hard Rock, Reverb. There are plenty more that are Hilton/Marriott/IHG branded.

Traffic sucks in Atlanta so unless you stay near the stadium it's going to be a pain to get there. So you could do that unless you want to stay near the stadium and then just drive to the other stuff you plan on doing. The mass transit system sucks between the stadium and downtown unfortunately. You're better off driving. It's 2 completely different systems, and the one near the stadium is only a bus, not a train/subway/dedicated rail. So you'll be sitting in traffic just like you would be in a car. Some of the hotels close to the stadium have free shuttles to/from the game. Others are walkable.

  • Staying in midtown will prob be your best bet. Hilton Garden Inn is the best affordable option. You can take Marta there from the airport. Marta to aquarium. Easy uber ride to and from Truist but there’s also a bus that goes from one of the Marta stops to the stadium. Lots of good restaurants over there too. Staying near the stadium will probably be more expensive and will require more/longer uber rides to everything else you want to do

  • We like to stay at the DoubleTree Suites right by the Battery.

  • There are others here who can give you more details on the nearby hotels, but I’d recommend staying near Truist and driving to the aquarium or other events. Parking near the stadium is a challenge. If you stay at The Omni right next to Truist, you can walk to the game. And it’s right on the interstate, so you can drive easily to the other places. Hope you have a great time!

It's like $800/night for game days. That's not even the balcony rooms that can you can watch the game from.

  • Country inn and suites is definitely affordable and close to the stadium.

  • I like staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites Atlanta-Galleria which is by the stadium but a little cheaper than the Omni. You prolly want to drive to events and stay near the ballpark. There is a ton right there that you can walk to in the battery.

  • I stay at the Omni. The security and no risk for DUI is worth it

  • Stay at the Aloft, Doubletree, or Hampton Inn @ Suites for the Game. Drive to Aquarium, World of Coke etc. I wouldn’t stay at the Omni bec of the price.

  • Stay near the aquarium should be plenty of rooms

  • Residence Inn - Norcross

-Two separate rooms in each unit

-Save money by putting groceries in the full sized fridge and cooking in the in-unit kitchen
