Most entitled lot of people I’ve ever dealt with. I work at a bank and it’s always the wealthy boomers that think they can come in and demand large amounts of cash in all hundreds immediately. I tell them they have to either order the cash in advance or I may be able to accommodate but they’re getting 20s and 50s.
Cue shocked Pikachu face and indignation in 3,2,1…
The stupid thing is, I HATE getting a hundred. No one can make change for, say, a an $8 slice of pizza, and everyone basically assumes they are counterfeit. I would much rather 20s.
They also enjoy going to gas stations (no money in register) and buying something for like $3 and expecting to break their crispy new hundreds. Fucking ridiculous.
We had to put up a sign at our pizza place that we don't take $100s, because so many people tried to pay for a $20 order with them. We don't even have that much change in the till.
It significantly slowed down the number of people trying to us as a bank.
In my experience they considered it a personal attack to ask for their ID. But they're also concerned and angry about their privacy. But they will also hand over all their personal info to the first person that spoofs their phone. It's mind boggling
I worked in a bank decades ago, and once had a Boomer-lite dude come in and ask for $1800 in crisp new hundreds. He volunteered (I couldn't have given a shit why he wanted them, but he apparently needed me to know) that it was his daughter's 18th birthday and this was his gift to her. Imagine being so completely out of touch with your own child that the best gift you can come up with is cash.
Cash is King, as they say, but I still feel like it's the laziest and most disconnected gift you could give your child. It felt like the only thing he knew about her was her age.
My in laws for decades would demand a paper paycheck, go to the issue bank or their own, get it all in cash. Then go to the bank with their mortgage & car payments and put cash directly on those loans. Fairly certain my father does it like this but just out of boredom. None of them use online banking. My in laws won't even use credit cards. If they run out of cash for that period they simply go without, including food. They still randomly run out of gas in their cars. Complete fools who think they are the smart ones. Always paying bills late or with bad checks, so their cell phone and cable bills are stacked with fees/penalties. Last I saw they pay like $600 for two old phones, and $480 for basic cable. I offered to put them on my accounts no charge with new phones and they really thought I was scamming them somehow. Sorry for the rant...
It's 100% their fault for the, yet again, inflated housing market as they decimated equity in the early 90's, again around 08, and now again post Covid. To support their frivolous lifestyle of gaudy furniture, motorcycles, and as you stated multiple homes all over leveraged. Their parents bailed them out while living, then again with their estates; now subsequent generations need to bail them out of their over leveraged homes just to have a place to sleep. They contributed little to nothing in social security, and will likely bankrupt that as well. The average boomer has contributed 2.5 years worth of social security...and will likely be on it for 15-25 years.
Let's not leave out how many of them sold their houses to corporations instead of families for a few bucks more. Those corps could outbid any family they were in competition with, and then turn them into inflated-price rentals that are the only thing those families can afford.
My in laws got scammed by a flipper; had a bogus inspection sheet come back with issues that didn't exist and they sold for like half value...I offered them more. Yeah it's a rental now. Then they bought a condo at almost double what they should have paid...same exact story with my parents. Complete fools.
They deserve it if they didn't have their own inspection done, either right off the bat or immediately after being presented with that one.
Complete fools.
But they'll never stop telling you how smart and industrious they are. I'll never forget my (now-ex) father-in-law - a moderately famous film director with a definitely cult following - going on and on and on about how self-made he was because he went door-to door with a little can of film to every advertising company etc. until he got hired by one, and then parlayed that into bigger projects until he was directing movies. The gist, of course, always being that he was more successful than I would be and I sucked as a partner for his daughter. He remains completely blind to the fact that his little schtick worked in the Sixties and he wouldn't get hired anywhere doing that today.
Your numbers are complete crap. I was born in 1961, which means I'm a young boomer. Counting just the past 20 years of employment, the combined social security taxes paid by me and my employer is about $385k. If I start drawing social security when I turn 65, it will be about $3k per month or $36k per year. So simply the last 20 years will pay for 10.6 years of social security payments for me. I'll be over 75 at that time.
That's not counting all the payments for the 30 prior years that I worked. I believe that in the long run, I will be dead before I have recovered all the money that I and my employers have paid into the system. Plus, the government had the benefit of compounding interest on the money through the years.
Most boomers for the first half of their working years paid 6.5% and nothing to Medicare. Then it was about 12% and 1.25%. But let's factor in cost of living didn't explode until late 2000's. Salary of $40k-$60k went a LONG way. My own FIL has admitted he has already exhausted his contributions. Your $385k is very much not the norm, cut that in half easy for a majority of boomers.
Just another day to remind everyone that boomer retirement benefits, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, will exceed $50 trillion for just their generation.
Their medical expenses will exceed their contributions by over 10 to 1, so no they didn't pay into the system, they are just draining it dry and leaving the next generation with a massive deficit that will cost another $100 trillion or more to pay, with our interest bill exceeding $1 trillion per year for the debts run up during their lifetime running Congress.
So sure, why not cut taxes on the leeches, got to have money to pay for that next cruise vacation.
Good for you for putting numbers to what we all know. Pointing this stuff out is a great way to get your local "Trumptard" and "Libtard" boomers to unite in an attack on you. Everytime I hear them say "I paid into it, it's my money" I just want to flip out. I also love the cop out about the mysterious "they" who "stole" from Social Security. Listen Kevin Trudeau, the only "they" here are you boomers.
Boomers are the worst and most destructive generation. They have destroyed this nation with their never ending greed, hypocrisy and racism. They can all get bent.
Dear Dummy Tax evaders. Stop using your mobile tracking device in the state you pretend to not live in for at least 6 months. So easy to check, the cell phone provider will sell that data to anyone for peanuts. Like Santa they know when you're asleep, they know when you're awake and connecting to the cell tower in upstate NY.
They profited off the tax money of the silent generation to pay for their education, infrastructure and security, now they think they don't owe any taxes and following generations should pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
Meh. This is a rich couple that got entangled in the complicated rules of classification as a NY resident. A high profile case for all those who live in more than one place and have enough money and income to pay taxes in both, totally uninteresting for anybody else.
I've heard Boomer's complain about having public education as a line item on their property taxes, they don't have kids in school, so why should they have to pay towards it?
Boomers continue to complain about having to pay to live in a society; meanwhile continue to leech off system not giving a damn about anyone else.
Most entitled lot of people I’ve ever dealt with. I work at a bank and it’s always the wealthy boomers that think they can come in and demand large amounts of cash in all hundreds immediately. Entitled, and unapologetically ignorant...Easily 90%+ the entire generation.
The stupid thing is, I HATE getting a hundred. No one can make change for, say, a an $8 slice of pizza, and everyone basically assumes they are counterfeit. I would much rather 20s.
They want the 100s so they can later bitch about no one accepting 100s.
They also enjoy going to gas stations (no money in register) and buying something for like $3 and expecting to break their crispy new hundreds. Fucking ridiculous.
The same ones who like to say, "cash is king".
And also because they think they're impressing people by pulling a 100 out
Easy, just buy ten slices. /s
Cannabis dispensaries are cash only and most people pull from an ATM so it’s pretty easy to get change at one
We had to put up a sign at our pizza place that we don't take $100s, because so many people tried to pay for a $20 order with them. We don't even have that much change in the till.

Why in the fuck do they need that much cash?
Because they’re paying for shit under the table in order to not pay taxes on it.
Boom.
I worked in a bank decades ago, and once had a Boomer-lite dude come in and ask for $1800 in crisp new hundreds. I'm not gonna lie, if someone would have given me $1800 for my 18th birthday, that would have been an awesome fucking day.
To put it into context, that would be nearly $3900 today.
Yes, the $100 bill thing is inconvenient
Cash is King, as they say, but I still feel like it's the laziest and most disconnected gift you could give your child. It felt like the only thing he knew about her was her age.

Their methods aren’t terrible, it just doesn’t work if you don’t pay your bills.
Their big push now is to end property taxes for all the homes they have, while most people can’t buy one.
It's 100% their fault for the, yet again, inflated housing market as they decimated equity in the early 90's, again around 08, and now again post Covid. Where are you getting the 2.5 years from? Just curious.
Average contribution of about $160k; with average benefit of $2500 a month per person.
Your numbers are complete crap. I was born in 1961, which means I'm a young boomer. Yes. This is happening in Florida I believe for my parents. No concern about their kids moving out of the state since it’s unaffordable
Well said.
It's always the wealthy. Always.
Well, yes. Non-wealthy people don’t usually have vacation homes..
True but it just snowbirds. Not all snowbirds are rich but the ones who usually bitch are.
They owned a lakehouse. They bought a second house for 1 million, and had 200k on top of that to do renovations to it.
No one should cry for them for even a split second.
With 100% certainty they voted for Trump. Womp womp.
"Hoff’s plans to turn the business over to his son fizzled due to newly imposed tariffs on Chinese products, affecting the company’s bottom line."
It’s self-pwnage. Every state goes by the 180-day rule.
I love that they counted days and showed the state they spent more time in NY. Chef’s kiss.
Typical Northeast MAGA Trash you’d see all over Florida
They've ruined Florida
The aging Boomers had ruined Florida long before they mutated into MAGA.
You're absolutely right
They spent more time in New York, so they get to pay New York taxes. Doesn't seem difficult to understand.
Just go 6ft under already....
Look up the boomer death clock 🕰️
Well you could save 60k by just getting the fuck out of our state. If you hate it sooooo much here then why come back?
Hahahah
Good
Fuck snowbirds
Pay your taxes
The usual suspects

Please fix social Security and healthcare for Gen X and all the following generations.
There were nearly 13 million fewer people in Gen X than in the Boomers.

They're rich and can afford it. Fuck 'em.
Seems like pardon material to me. I hope they don't get too many tears on their Waterford crystal collection. /s
Of course they do. They are the most selfish generation in the history of this country.
They moved their ski equipment... to Florida?
Boomers are the worst and most destructive generation. They have destroyed this nation with their never ending greed, hypocrisy and racism. They can all get bent.
Dude looks like a Teamsters boss from the Local 838
Fucking welfare queens always bitching about something
True and millennials outnumber the boomers. Combined with Gen X they are double the number of boomers. It’s time for solutions
If they don't like it they should sell their propert(ies) in new york and move to florida...

Just leave at tge six month mark and you won’t have to

Rich people are the stingiest bastards
He has a very, very punchable face.

Fuck em
Fuck em
We're they committing fraud before this revelation?
Jfc just getting the fuck out of Florida. It already sucks here enough.
I've heard Boomer's complain about having public education as a line item on their property taxes, they don't have kids in school, so why should they have to pay towards it?
