Yesterday, while boarding my flight, the attendants asked people to step back and to the side so they can get this wheelchair out of the way after the person in it had boarded, cue boomer couple, who ignore the flight attendants REPEATEDLY telling them to move out of the way, they used it as an excuse to step RIGHT in front of the line instead of to the side so they can get on ahead of everyone else...then held up the boarding while arguing about the carryons... which delayed the ALREADY 30+ minutes delayed flight even further....

  • Major failure by the gate staff. That's when you get security on the scene and make the people move out of the way so boarding can continue.

Nil that is so annoying like how hard is it to just follow directions fr

That won't make people comply. How many airplane videos do we have of jackasses still being a jackass even when confronted by security or police? Even when the police tell the ass that they'll be arrested if they don't just calm down or follow directions, the jackass still decides to jackass all over the place.

Then they go to jail and aren't on the flight to disturb the other passengers.

Yep! Haul them off to jail, immediately add them to the no-fly list, and let them figure out how to get home!

    There are tiers of jackasses.

Most will comply if confronted by someone in a position of authority. That’s why rules need enforcement mechanisms or else they’re meaningless.

Of course you will still have the top tier jackasses who are determined to go viral but they are a small minority.

I agree. Normal people don't even need enforcement. We realize that most rules and regulations are there to help society or to make processes more efficient and easier. If a rule doesn't make sense, most people realize its better to comply then try to change the rule in a later than to try to argue with the person who is paid to enforce the rule (even if the enforcer disagrees with the rule, they still want to get paid).

We do need an official, international standardized tier of assholes. Politicians definitely belong in the top tier. And since he loves to put his name on everything, we can call that top tier of assholes The Trump Tier.

Also, if someone doesn't do a "bad" thing just because fear of the punishment, then that person is not exactly a good person. While I am glad that person doesn't commit bad acts, what happens when that fear goes away? Good people don't do bad acts because they don't want to harm others.

  • When people cut in front of me I just cut back in front of them. IDGAF how blatant my cutting back is, or if it causes an argument which, honestly, it rarely does. It's better than me seething for days afterwards.

I actually out loud said” excuse me what the fuck are you doing?!”

Lol nice, did they respond in any way or just ignore you? I find people tend to ignore comments but they can't do much when I cut back in

  • Went to Vegas for the weekend. On the flight to connect to our connection terminal, a boomer lady stood up while we were descending to get her bag out from the overhead compartment. Our flight attendant told her “Ma’am we are still in the air, get your butt back in that seat.”

It’s like every time is their first time flying.

  • My favourite thought is that the gate attendants make a discreet little mark on their boarding pass which indicates to the flight crew that this person is an AH and treat them accordingly.

Extra points if the captain can radio ahead and make them be the very last to get any bags they checked.

Bags they checked? What bags they checked? We're not finding a record of them having checked any bags...

  • I got cut by a boomer couple at the security line on my last trip. Only for them to be held up by getting a full pat down by staff. Walking right past them while it was happening was pretty satisfying.

  • “Get on ahead of everyone else”…Was this Southwest without assigned seating? (I believe their assigned seating policy takes effect in January.). Everyone got to the destination at the same time. Not a big deal.

As for the carry-ons…If it was Southwest (who recently cancelled the 2 free checked bags policy), everyone and their mother has since been trying to max-out their carry-ons to avoid paying a checked-bag fee. It sucks because now the overhead bins are being stuffed to the gills before all passengers are on, and looking for enough people willing to have their carry-on put down below in the baggage hold (for free at that point) takes forever. Everyone’s been arguing about it, not just boomers.

  • Ideally I’m the last person to board the plane. The less time I spend in a closed metal tube with strangers, the happier I am. 66 here.

  • Staff to blame. I wouldn't have boarded them they would have missed their flight by 30 minutes.

  • I generally am not in a hurry to board. I have an assigned seat. I don’t pack valuables in carryon so don’t care which cubby it’s stashed in. I don’t usually take a carryon since I have learned how to pack a five day vacation into a backpack that fits under seat. Oh, and I’m 63…I can’t stand rudeness by any age group. Life is short, don’t sweat the small stuff.
