Exactly! I hung on as long as I could bc the original series had such an intriguing premise and a lot of the characters and powers were engaging. I especially liked Mikoto, ironically enough, so a spinoff focusing on her sounded amazing! But SA played as a joke is never funny to me, and I hate the double-standard mentality that it's somehow a-okay if it's a GIRL SA-ing a guy or another girl, like wtf? No it's not! Haruhi Suzumiya was the same for me. I felt bad bc of how many people love that series, but for me she was insufferably unlikeable.
I will say, from what I recall, the manga of Railgun focuses far more on the plot and I don't think Kuroko's worst traits are played up NEARLY as often or as badly as the anime, so that might be the best route to go if you want to enjoy the series, though it's been a long time since I've read it.

Yeah. The actual funniest part of Mineta’s character is basically when the girls punish him. Like Mina brainwashing him or Tsuyu tying him up and hanging him from the ceiling. If that sort of stuff didn’t happen, then the character would just be viewed as worse. Although there’s a few instances where the guys tied up Mineta. So maybe, if Mineta was a girl, the girls would just continue being the ones to punish him.

Best way to improve on the character? Make them not a straight up sex offender. You can be horny without attempting to peep on people - like its pretty simple. For example when mineta found the peephole to the women’s locker room and someone was like “no don’t look through that - that’s very wrong” - maybe if you wanted to follow it up you could have someone else essentially tell him that no woman is gonna love a creepy guy like him. Then have him reflect and choose not to do it - or if he does it have him reflect on it over time and change his behavior over time.
It would be kinda great if he eventually realizes that to ever have a hope at a relationship he needs to focus on himself - he becomes a good hero, less perverted, stops thinking about women all the time, maybe picks up a hobby - then after all that he has someone ask him out who is approximately his age and probably another hero.
