I’ve recently fallen down the rabbit hole of Bob Hickman, and it’s honestly one of the most fascinating things I’ve ever come across. It appears he has been an internet icon for quite some time, and a local legend for even longer.
Does anyone know anything about him truly though? When did he first appear with his van to locals? Where does he come from? Has he always had some form of religious psychosis? I want to know so much more than I’ve been able to find 😭

About a decade ago I spent a weekend trying to dig up all his old websites. I don’t think I could track them back down today but as far as I could tell, his main website at the time had existed for 15 years for that point, since 2000 or so. Using the wayback machine I could see its various incarnations, and the progression of time had clearly made him more unhinged. Its earliest version was kooky and strange but not disturbing, and was formatted like a regular Geocities website; by 2015 it was a maze of links and every page consisted of enormous run on sentences describing his apocalyptic visions with lots of stuff about being raped and tortured by Jesus. It wasn’t all just copy+paste, either, it looked like every page had been typed out manually. It was kind of heartbreaking to see what his brain had done to him
it’s morbid fascination, I have it too. im studying psychopathology and have to do a case study for my thesis. i honestly was considering doing him but with the limited bio psychosocial knowledge we have im not sure I can accurately do so

I found out about him back in like 2014 when I got a random text that said the whole god entered my body thing. I looked the number up on Facebook and it was a kid. I asked him if he was ok, and he just repeated himself, so I looked up “god entered my body like a body” and found a ton of shit that has kept me captivated and a little worried ever since
Funny thing is Bob has a history of texting random people that message.
I received that text many moons ago as well

I feel like this episode should be required listening for this sub. I haven’t finished it yet, but I listened most of it the other night. It is so good.
I loved hearing him talk about his method for choosing what numbers would get texts, and how he paid for advertising for his message in different countries.

Yes, as a psychologist I would say Bob is a textbook example. I consider him my favorite one and enjoy his writings, personality and uniqueness.
Specifically, he is the perfect example of what schizophrenia can turn into if it goes untreated for extended periods of time.
He has a traumatic brain injury he doesn't do drugs.

He lives in a filthy small house with his mother in Indianapolis, IN. I question whether its her living or her rotting corpse he lives with, lol. He works sometimes as a truck driver. It seems his psychosis began around late nineties-2000. Many say hes schizophrenic although I see no signs of that - hes delusional but not paranoid or increasingly more sick at the rate the 'phrenia usually is nor does he talk to/about any hallucinations besides god. I believes he is a weed smoker. There is internet evidence of Bob including videos everywhere. My only gripe about Bob is his enablement of Amber. Its so sad.

Shes never been seen that I know of. The upstairs of that house is just as horrifying as the basement. The mold and filth would leave anyone unwell.
I doubt he does drugs given he is a truck driver. DOT doesn’t fuck around and you have to get tested every time you renew your card.
Renewals are every few years and Bobs driving jobs are intermittent. He is absolutely BAKED in a few photos with Amber.

The only real answer you’re gonna get is that he’s schizophrenic and has been for a very long time. Something in his brain clicked into spraying painting his vehicle and blasting social media, obviously drawing tons of attention. It’s likely stemming from lots of bad things but that’s speculation at worst and best. Schizophrenic guy with a higher than normal presence online.
