Hello everyone!
I’ve been enjoying this amazing reality where we can finally play Bloodborne on PC, but I’ve now hit a very specific and persistent issue related to the Vicar Amelia progression.
After defeating Vicar Amelia, when I interact with the skull on the altar, the cutscene plays, but the game then gets stuck on a black screen and never finishes loading. This happens exactly at the point where the game is supposed to transition the world state to night.
What worries me is that this is the second time I’ve reached this point. On a previous playthrough, I actually lost a save file because it was somehow created in that strange “in-between” state during the night transition, leaving the game in an unusable limbo.
In terms of setup:
- I’ve been primarily playing on shadPS4 v0.13.0, but I’ve also tested the pre-release build, v0.12.0, and the diegolix build, with the same result.
- I’m using the GOTY edition pkg (CUSA03173).
- During my troubleshooting I've tested the game without any mods, patches, 60 FPS fixes, or visual tweaks whatsoever (disabling 60 fps/higher resolutions/shaders).
Interestingly, I’m playing at an ultrawide resolution (3440×1440), and I can actually see that something does load in the background: the altar candles briefly flicker, so the world seems to initialize partially, but the screen remains black and control never returns.
I’ve found one mention to this glitch on a aware this bug has existed on PS4 for years as well, so I’m not convinced this is purely an emulation issue. That said, I’m wondering if anyone here has found a reliable workaround on PC/emulation (specific versions, settings, or known fixes).
Any insight (heh) would be greatly appreciated.
Ps: If needed, I can also provide logs or try specific builds/settings suggested here.
EDIT: I've tried both fps fixes, the one that is applied as a mod (Bloodborne 60fps Cutscene Fix) and the one that works as a patch through an xml file (60 fps cutscene fix and HIghest possible resolution). Still no improvement! Again, it's funny how the game actually runs -I tried enabling the fps counter and it's running. It's not like the game freezed.
SOLVED!!!: Guys, I managed to find a different CUSA03173 pkg and reinstalled everything from scratch. That seemed to do the trick. Luckily enough my saves backups have worked flawlessly. Bless this community <3
You gotta disable the 60fps patch for this specific cutscene. You can turn it back on afterward.
I think there might be a mod to fix this but I didn’t bother looking for it personally.
Edit: sorry just saw you tried this already. You sure you disabled it properly? This is a very common issue and that fixes it for most
I did! Sorry if I didn't explain it properly. I've also tried completing the fight fully without mods nor patches, the game as vanilla as can be and touching the thingy right after, avoiding lighting the lamp also.

I'll double-check and reinstall from scratch then!
This happened to me after Rom. People recommended to disable the 60 fps patch, or limit your fps to 30. Nothing worked for me. I used this mod:

and it fixed it perfectly

If you're not using BBlauncher, search Nexus mod for boss cutscenes fix. There's a few, I believe I have the "all in one" and one specific for Ebreiatas and haven't had any crashes from cutscenes or bosses since playing @ 1440p 60fps
