My bf and I have been watching older seasons of BB lately and we started questioning the rules of the veto.
If someone is "safe" for the week but wins the comp & uses the veto to save somebody else can they in turn be put on the block in their place if the HOH chooses?
Generally if you are safe for the week, you cannot be put on the block. Also, winning veto makes you safe for the week automatically.
Let's say there are 5 people left - HoH, Nom1, Nom2, you, and someone else. If you win veto and use it, HoH has to nominate "someone else". This has happened a few times to break up a duo in late game.
If you win the veto, you are safe. You cannot be put up for nomination whether or not you use it.
That was basically our question thank you!!!
Furthering to add, that’s why if people team up, if one person is on the block they want their partner to win the veto so they’re both safe!
Nope. The Veto holder is immune from being the replacement nominee
And it makes sense, because the HOH could just threaten to nominate the Veto holder if they use it, and the Veto holder would almost certainly chose to protect themselves
If that were the case it would be pretty similar to the immunity necklace in survivor, where there’s no logical reason to give it up
No. Veto guarantees safety.
(Unless you're on the block and choose not to use it on yourself)
Go Tucker!
Also Marcellas BB2 but his was just sad, not entertaining like Tucker lol
Edit: I think other people are right. Silver POV kept you safe. I just remember Amy possibly vetoing Roddy (and not herself), but she was nominated already, so she was going to be up for nomination regardless.
I thought the only change was that golden veto could be used on yourself. The silver veto couldn't be used on yourself.
No the silver veto also protected you from renom. Gerry mentions that he is safe from renom before the Veto ceremony when he vetoes Marcellas.
HOH and Veto holders win safety
If by “safe” you mean they’re not on the block already, then no. The veto holder is safe from renomination even if they choose to use it
No since winning veto gives you automatic safety
winning veto essentially protects you and 1 person on the block, if they so choose.
No they would have immunity.
I think winning a veto has always had a possibility of keeping two people safe
The winner, and if they choose a person on the block to be taken off
The veto winner cannot be nominated for the week - regardless of if they use the veto on someone else or not.
Veto win makes you safe and you have the choice to basically make someone else safe as well. That’s why a lot of times they try to throw it to specific person to keep a whole group safe.
No, unless it's F4 because then you're the only option
Was there not a caveat in the original veto that meant if you were not already on the block and then used the veto on someone, then you could be put on the block? I know that's not the case now but if I'm remember correctly I feel like when the veto was first introduced, that was a rule.
The only way you give up your safety is if you’re on the block and you win veto and save someone else. If you’re off the block and win veto, you’re safe and you can save someone else, forcing the HOH to make a replacement nominee which is why ppl don’t often do it. Although you’re safe, you make more enemies than friends.
