어디에요 -> 어디예요
어디에있요 -> 어디에 있어요
In this context, they are fully interchangeable. For the longer version, I'd prefer 어디에 있나요 as it's more common. At least to me, 어디에 있어요 sounds like reading from a textbook.
You might wanna consider 어딨어 (not sure if I'm spelling that right, I always say it outloud haha) it's a contraction and sounds a bit more natural I think
The spelling is good (it's indeed a contraction of 어디 있어), but I would not consider this when asking a stranger since it's not a polite form (notably, missing the magic ~요).

Oh yeah I just meant the form, my ex would pretty much always say 어딨어요? to strangers. If I were an old person, it probably would be something more like "어디 있습니까?“ (my higher 존댓말 isn't perfect either lol)

A: I left that book you wanted in your room.
B: Where? I don't see it.
A: Right there. Next to the remote.
B could say "Where is it?" instead of "Where?" without changing the meaning at all. It's the same thing with 어디예요 and 어디에 있어요 (and other variations thereof), except you can use it in wider variety of situations.
Adding to all the helpful comments above, shortend "어디 있어요?" is used more frequently than full "어디에 있어요?". "어디에 있어요?" is still fully correct and usable, but it could feel a little bit formal, or carry a nuance of 'i did try to find it to no avail'.
어디에요 is a grammatically incorrect conjugation of 이다. When following a noun that has no final syllable, the proper conjugation is 예요. If the noun that precedes 이다 ends in a final consonant, then it should be written as 이에요.

I think of it as 어디예요 is for fixed locations, and 어디에 있어요 is for movable objects. But that's not perfect.
If you're asking locations, like bathroom or bank, both are OK.
However, for things that are mobile like "where's my wallet?" you can only use 어디에 있어요?

There are two different ways to ask “where”, depending on what you’re asking.
It’s similar to“Which place is it?” / “Which area is it?” Often used for places that function as named locations or facilities.
Example : 화장실 어디예요? “Which way is the restroom?” “Where is the restroom (as a facility in this building)?”
Similar to “Where is it located?” / “Where can I find it?” Used when you’re asking where something exists right now.
Example : 화장실 어디에 있어요? “Where is the restroom located?”

Think of them as "You're" and "You are." They are basically the same meaning, just shortened to say it faster.
