I mean, they can have competition episodes while still continuing the One stuff, that's how they did it before she got all that power. There's really no reason to stop using that method
The hatred really started after BFDIA 23, which I believe to be unfair to TPOT since that episode is SUPPOSED to be big, being the quarterfinals and all. Everybody saw the “do every BFDIA challenge” challenge and started dunking on TPOT for not doing the exact same thing BFDIA does and to be honest the ragebait is working
Is tpot being botted cause i swear everyday I’m seeing this opinion? Especially cause we got TPOT 16 and 17 which are both pretty standard TPOT episodes minus Two not hosting. Sure it has been since May and yeah that’s a long time now, but we had 3 year long gaps for BFB 13 (I see it as the proto TPOT episode), TPOT 1 and 2. I’m certain that things will eventually return to a competition format although I’m unsure how they will achieve that with the world being kinda destroyed rn.
To be fair, this opinion has been circling the community for a while now, with several people pointing out the issues. It's just now that many fans are looking back at the year, comparing BFDIA to TPOT, and the novelty of TPOT 19 & 20 has worn off.
Nickel got more screen time this year than Fanny, TPOT TB, and Tree, despite being eliminated for the majority of the year.
I trust that they will get more soon. Just because this is how things are now doesn’t mean this is how they will be in the future. I believe they will mix the competition with the plot next episode
The main problem is that these getting out challenges have been going on since TPOT 16. At this point, it's slightly annoying seeing Fanny get eliminated early again or Pencil make it all the way to the end.
It also makes the screen time unbalanced, which is pretty important in VTS.
It feels like it's gone too long only really because of the time between episodes, it's not really gonna be that bad looking at the season as a whole. I'd rather this rsther than just the same competition as usual.
I feel like a vast majority of people are putting unrealistic expectations on this season, especially when the lore y’all have been complaining about recently has been building since the end of 2023.
And I’ve been around for long enough to know that y’all would complain if TPOT followed BFDIA’s style as well.
heres an entry for ya in the cerebus syndrome page on tv tropes:
Battle for Dream Island goes through something of a Cerebus Rollercoaster before reaching an eventual point of permanent Cerebus Syndrome. The first season, with it being created by 13-year old twin brothers, is very lighthearted and doesn't take itself seriously, with a few character arcs being developed towards the end. The second season, Battle for Dream Island Again, is considerably Darker and Edgier, with multiple character arcs being built and the show taking a turn towards Black Comedy. The fourth season (as the third season was Cut Short after one episode), Battle for BFDI, goes back to being Lighter and Softer, with the overall humor being Denser and Wackier and the animation style being noticeably crude, though it still manages to carry over the character arcs built in BFDIA and creates some new ones altogether. After BFB was split into two shows, Battle for BFB would continue on the sillier path, but the fifth season, The Power of Two, is when the show firmly cements itself as being dramatic. The character arcs reach their head towards the start of the season, with many of the characters becoming Deconstructed Character Archetypes, but two moments tip the scales towards being serious. The first being TPOT 9, where the show tackles the idea of a Zombie Apocalypse that thankfully gets reversed in the end, but demonstrates that the contestants are not as safe as they once thought. The second, and more damning aspect, being the introduction of One, the show's resident Satanic Archetype whose M.O. is offering the contestants Deals with the Devil. Her mere presence shifts the show's tone entirely, and this reaches its apex in TPOT 15 when she very nearly destroys all of reality, and though this gets undone, her actions still result in the show's setting being permanently damaged. And if that wasn't enough, she wins in TPOT 19, gaining both Two's and Four's powers, and kicks the Earth out of its orbit to who knows where, and due to the events of the episode, the Sole Survivor (before Winner is recovered, and not counting those who were not competing) is Grassy, the most childlike character, who is utterly traumatized from the events.
I’m just hoping TPOT 20 is the last non-competition episode. I feel like 3 of them was enough for this season, especially that the last two are two episodes apart from each other, so TPOT 21 is definitely gonna go back to the competition. Although, I would consider 2 parters (BFDIA 19 and 20/BFB 13 and 14) happening later in the season, just not right after last episode.
I really dont understand why they've gone for more lore less competition. Ones story would hav been much better as BG stuff. We've really lost the plot of what BFDI is
…because after a while the competition aspect loses the charm. If it just stayed the same for 15 years, it’d get boring. Adding lore makes things more engaging to me, and besides it’s not like BFDI or BFB were exclusively competition.
Honestly, I kinda feel like 21 might conclude the one story or postpone it for a bit beacuase having two non competition episodes in a row would wrird
But then it would end too rushed they've basically dug themselves in a weird writing hole if that makes sense
I mean, they can have competition episodes while still continuing the One stuff, that's how they did it before she got all that power. There's really no reason to stop using that method
same, man, same.
no offense but this is the 20th post thats gone like "i miss classic tpot"
its a fair opinion but we're like knee deep in the one villain arc right now, let's let it play out before casting any judgement
It’s like the buzz lighyear in the store meme
I absolutely agree

I just want a new episode. Im fine with what we have now. I know it’s being impatient, but I liked waiting 2 months instead of 4 for a new episode.
You would not have survived in the OSC prior to 2023
tbf the sub was a toxic wasteland before we lost our shit at the "lets keep bfdi casual" vid announcing tpot 3's release date

People got 1... ONE lore episode and suddenly TPOT is absolute trash for everyone
The episode before that had like 2 relevant contestants btw
The competition was literally to kill each other. Of course the one that survive/kill the most will get more screentime

Yea but like almost everyone else just died randomly not in some cool fight scene or lived long enough to do something they just went poof
Same, we haven’t gotten focus on the contestants for ages now
It feels like it's gone too long only really because of the time between episodes, it's not really gonna be that bad looking at the season as a whole. I'd rather this rsther than just the same competition as usual.
They tried wayyyyy too hard to be deep like II
Or… Like we have for nearly 16 years now…
LET THEM COOK?????

It’s been one episode
I miss when everything was happy, peace, and quiet
I don't like where TPOT is going, like... At all
It has literally only been 3 episodes since the last normal episode, ya’ll are genuinely impatient 😭
I wouldn't call 3 episodes a short gap
To be fair, that was 8 months ago.
have you heard about Cerebus Syndrome?
heres an entry for ya in the cerebus syndrome page on tv tropes:
You think cerebus syndrome is always that bad when done good?
TPOT 21 is probably going to be a "normal" episode
I get what you're saying but why is this so vauge 😭
Idk but for me, im still good with the dark tone right now in TPOT, but i guess it’s just me likes dark and thrilling stuff
