Hello everyone, I am not an expert musician so I may not be making sense here while trying to explain my problem. Anyways I am copying muse score sheet music into the bandlab MIDI editor (I'm on phone) to experiment with time signatures and measures which I recently learned about in the midi editor, it divides each measure in 4/4 into 4 squares as we all know and if I zoom in it becomes 8 squares per measure, therefore each of the squares equals half a note now. When I copy the exact notes on the sheet music into the midi editor with the same exact tempo it just sounds too fast. For example the song has 4 quavers in a row and when I add each quaver into its individual square (which equals half a note) and I play it to check if it sounds correct it just sounds way too fast. Anyone can tell me what's wrong with what I'm doing?

  • It may be If your sheet music says something like ♪ = 120 (i.e. eighth note at 120 bpm) and in Bandlab you set 120 BPM (where the BPM is based on quarter notes, not eighth notes), your playback will seem twice as fast. So, you could just try halving the BPM in BL.

The thing is, I tried all the bpms. Even in 45 bpm it still sounds way too fast

Also in the sheet music it says that the quarter note speed is at 106, not the quaver

Try timing (using your own watch/timer) musescore to see how quickly it takes to play the track to the end of the 10th bar (for 106 bpm using quarter notes, this should take about 22 and a half seconds) then do the same with BL. It might be that the musescore notation has incorrectly stated its tempo. Also make sure it's definitely in 4/4.
