yep looks like a pit mix. very possibly a pit mixed with a chihuahua, which is probably what OOP was told when they adopted that dog too, that he's just a "chihuahua" and most people can't tell the difference. :/
And that she just "made a bad choice". It wasn't a "choice", it was a biological compulsion as a direct result of genetics. The dog can't make a different "choice" because dogs can't reason the way humans can. At best, you may be able to suppress the behavior, but the likelihood is low as once a pitbull has mauled, impulse control has already left the building. This animal will always be unpredictable at best, although the reasonable prediction is that it will happen again and passing the buck to someone else is unethical.
It's also unicorn taming. Lots of dangerous people in the world made "bad choices" and continue to make "bad choices" but be as much of a doormat to them as you are to this dog and see how that turns out.
Dogmen, the actual experts on dog killing drive and ability, call this attack ".starting, turning on". Some dogs are on fire as puppies in their litter and must be separated to prevent puppy murders at 3 months.
The great majority turn on between 18 and 36 months, however some are late starters and may not feel the drive to maul and dismember until they are seniors.
The Bloodsport people are terribly cruel to support the continued selective breeding for these behaviors. All the victims suffer and the Bloodsport beast themselves suffer too.
There is absolutely no way to tell when the centuries of instinct flood her tiny brain and biting and not letting go seems like a perfect activity.
And she could easily kill the adults in the household if her instincts guided her to
oh my god... so this I why they insist chihuahuas are so violent and deranged - they're too fucking stupid to tell wildly different breeds apart because shitbull is the only breed of dog they know
Not to mention, other dogs that they have lived with and gotten along fine with. The truly spontanoues violent nature of these creatures is unreal. Love, like, loyalty, has nothing to do with it.
Almost every creature on earth doesn't harm their pack/family. They feel some sense of loyalty and bonding. Pits do feel bonding, i'm sure, but the urge to kill is so strong it overrides it. How crazy is that? We should not and CANNOT have these creatures in our society!
Gotcha, but understand that pit apologists show up here and post the absurd, so if you don’t distinguish your posts then you‘ll appear as one of them, that’s all
even if that is the case, and I do believe that the absurdness of that comment if off their charts too, there are at least three more comments of mine in this rather short thread alone, all upvoted. so, either people don't look at the name of the author, or they are being unfair in their persistence with the original misjudgement.
if there was just one comment under my name and if it was ordinary and unoriginally absurd, your case could stand.
LMFAO WISDOM son we are talking about the breed that ranks dead last in intelligence, the closest thing it has to wisdom are the best places to latch onto for a faster kill
Sweet shibble just made a bad choice to murder another animal in our house. We keep her locked up because of her insatiable lust for blood but trust us! She’s just so sweet!!
It also confuses me bc imo that doesnt make it any better/ sound like a better dog.
"These two dogs lived together fantastically for years! Acting like family to one another, no aggression at all. Until the pitbull randomly slaughtered their sister while the rest of the family was away!!"
Like how is that any better?? "Its a good dog until it randomly decides to kill & shows no warning signs at all! 🤗💓"
I think they feel like it exempts them from the responsibility of foreseeing the tragedy, but you're right, it just makes the dog's behavior seem even more unhinged.
That actually is part of the terror of pitbulls. They can act so pleasant and normal really for years and years. That's what pitbull mongerers don't realize. It's impossible to know when they are going to turn on and begin to sort destroying any victim they can reach.
Totally black eyes are just creepy to me. Looks totally soul less🙃 No kill shelters have really screwed the pooch. Now everyone gets emotional when it used to be common sense to B.E. aggressive animals of any kind.
Agreed! I don't understand why any aggressiveness is even tolerated, especially killing another pet? If one of my dogs harmed or even killed another dog or person in my house, that dog would be sent to a better environment asap! No if's, and's, or but's!
Again with this bullshit. They always try to make pitbulls seem like they face existential questions of existence. It wasn't a choice. It was her natural instinct. The pitbull didn't weigh the pros and cons of killing that other dog.
...and where is the "chihuahua"? Because all I see here is a pitbull and a smaller pitbull mix. I have to imagine that both dogs likely wanted that fight to happen, and of course the larger, stronger dog will win. I hate for any dog or any animal for that matter, to be killed in such a brutal way...even if it is another pit mutt that died. I guess I just don't understand people who bring dogs of any breed into their life, and seemingly know nothing about the pets that they choose to keep. It's always the same clueless response from the owner when sweet pibbles rips another animal apart.
when you buy a fish, dude selling them will warn you about the compatibility. seriously, fish people love demonstrating their love for their hobby. on the other hand, there is a lot of people apparently believing that the dogs are plants or something; water them, put in some fertilizer, secure enough sunlight and you're good to go.
This resonates. In my youth, I used to be that "dude selling fish". I was actually the avian expert (still am, but not my actual job anymore); I sold a whole lot of fish to a whole lot of people over the years. I flat out refused to sell aggressive species with community safe species to any one person, should they ignore my advice not to mix certain species...nor would I sell a fish that would grow to 12"+ to someone with, say, a 20 gallon tank. As an employee, I was good for the pets, but bad for business.
How is it that all breeds of dogs are just expected to be perfect, and not act on what their hundreds to thousands of years of selective breeding genetics created them to be? People need to know their breed (breeds if a mutt), and how to properly manage the breed(s) that they have chosen to keep.
For example, as much as I love Italian greyhounds, pomeranians, and many other toy breeds...I won't own any of those breeds, because my giant hunting sighthounds are just that: giant hunters. Even small dogs can be mistaken for prey animals. My grey gets easily overstimulated and she plays rough too...even though she likely wouldn't mean to, she could easily kill a toy breed during play; the level of management it would take to be constantly supervising and never let them just interact together independently, would be intense at best...and a mistake would inevitably be made someday.
Ha I had a friend who was "that employee" at the pet store and would advise people about fish and refuse to sell to certain people. She knew more about animal diseases and behavior than 99% of the people in that store because of her major (and she was an academic overachiever who would talk about her classwork all the time). She also had a real menagerie at home (all well taken care of).
yep, it seems that fish dudes everywhere obey strictly defined way of professional conduct. with reason, if you ask me; it is for everyone's benefit to arrange the most complimentary mosaic, an aesthetically and functionally pleasing whole, and not a hellhole of fish chasing fish incessantly.
I've been one, when I was a kid, but not anymore. funnily, each one of my pets could've been switched easily for a cow with negligible difference in effort needed to be maintained from my side, but somehow fish tank always seemed like an excess.
for sure, genetics are to be overcomed, which is a lot of times fool's job. blank state, tabula rasa, bianco check most dogs, even mutts, are not and every effort to ignore that has a potential for worsening the situation, even if it is momentarily acceptable. but hey, it is not like some are risking theirs and other people's lives and livelihoods while doing that; now, that would be not very responsible. you, on the other hand, seem like you could serve as an example. never heard of that breed before by the way, must be honest, and it is not like I am new in this world. hopefully, choosing it played out great for you.
The man who lived with bears was fine until he wasn’t, then the bears killed him. How do these people not understand, they’re living with no better than a wild animal who could kill them at any time? I wouldn’t live with a tiger for the same reason.
I honestly think Kay Grayson was taken out by her bears too. I have a ton here and the males are really aggressive. I had to lock myself in the chicken coop a few weeks ago when I spotted "Daddy Mac". I feel the same way about these murder beasts.
you chicken lol but seriously, it is always australia this and australia that, but you live among bears lol. in a sense, how courageous of you; the closest I've been to one was somebody telling me she saw its footprints, and I don't wish to come any closer.
she's probably a 'im the main character' types and views everyone else as NPCs. For sure she never thought about anyone else having the same thing happen or if she did she didnt care.
Exactly. These types of people can’t accept responsibility and can’t make difficult decisions regarding BE about their own dogs, so they shirk responsibility onto someone else, who often learn far too late that the dog was aggressive.
Yeah, AC and the shelter told her to try rehoming if she wasn’t going to turn over the dog to them so that one of two things happens - 1) some other pit nut decides they want to “rescue” sweet Miss Understood and rehab her/fight her in the pit, or 2) the OOP realises that nobody else wants a killer and the dog is returned to the shelter and put down anyway. It achieves an outcome where OOP doesn’t have to feel as guilty for not actually making the hard choice herself.
bEfOrE YoU cOmE iN WiTh NeGaTiViTy - woman shut up, you fucked up so bad an animal lost its life and you still have the audacity to kick YOUR problem onto somebody else's doorstep instead of doing the right thing? pointing that out is not NeGaTiViTy, it's brutal honestly you need to hear. you will be personally responsible when the beast attacks again and I can only hope that you have the decencyto feel ashamed of yourself
oh who am I kidding shitbull lovers are all the same, just with line three different varieties
it’s always the same with these people.. “she’s not a bad dog, she just made a bad choice”.. “I cannot afford for this to happen again if it was not an isolated incident”.. but it’s okay for it to happen to someone ELSE if it was not an isolated incident ? as long as you don’t have to deal with the heartbreak of putting your dog down , then it’s okay for someone else to feel that heartbreak potentially (assuming they get attached to the dog), AS WELL AS any soul-crushing when it mauls any of their family members/children??
Everybody help me. I can't have this dog in my home because it might murder something again. Please take it into your home instead! She's not a bad dog, just a dog that we're all terrified of.
I'll help her. It wasn't. It wasn't an isolated incident. That dog will continue to attack until it graduates to humans and harms your kids. There. Solved her deep question.
But not to worry, this way it'll get adopted out and maul someone else's animal or kid, just not yours. Problem solved, I guess.
The ridiculous thing is if she did send that bloodsport dog to the Shadow Realm, I bet those shelters would be dramatically flailing all over social media about how they would have helped if the owner had contacted them.
That shelter is where I got my feral cats spayed. The building is full of pit bulls. People were walking other dogs but not the pits. Probably why they don’t want it back.
Mods- i feel like this could go on pitbulls ate my face. How often do we see that people post their pit with small dogs and other animals bragging about them getting along so well
I’d send a modmail to r/pitbullsatemyface so 8 can look at it the next time he signs on. He’s no longer a mod here (just busy with life, we still love him). I am the only mod for both currently and that one is his baby and I just act to keep trolls out. I’m not sure if he wants to keep victims to humans or not.

"Made a bad choice" to A DOG. It's just following instincts, it's an animal. The ones capable of making conscious choices are THE OWNERS. They made the bad choice to own a dog breed, which has dog aggression written in the breed standard, and set it up for failure by making it live with other dogs. A shame, it's an accident, but management always fails. This dog cannot be around any other dogs, but guess what... Other dogs exist anywhere that humans are.
This is why pitbulls need to be banned. They're a single accident away from following their natural instincts, and causing great harm. There's no way to combat this. Only honest, common sense, and a big dose of luck- which is bound to run out.
It’s sad actually. These people seem like decent humans who have bought into the whole “pit bulls have a bad rap they don’t deserve” and tried to be good pet owners but fell victim to the fact that pit bulls are inherently dangerous and are now faced with the horrible situation that the only responsible thing to to is BE. Had they adopted a golden retriever, they wouldn’t be in this predicament. Pit bulls are NOT suitable family pets. Period.
The shelter most likely lied about past aggression, and of course they washed their hands after they got rid of the dog.
Also if the second pic shows the "chihuahua", that's not a chihuahua, that's also a pitbull
yep looks like a pit mix. very possibly a pit mixed with a chihuahua, which is probably what OOP was told when they adopted that dog too, that he's just a "chihuahua" and most people can't tell the difference. :/
smaller pitbull = chihuahua
pitbull = lab
pitbull = beagle
pitbull = boxer
Yeah exactly lmao that looks like a pit bull chihuahua mix
You forgot all black and white pit bulls = border collies
They haven’t even had her for 6 months and want to believe this was an isolated incident.
And that she just "made a bad choice". It wasn't a "choice", it was a biological compulsion as a direct result of genetics. Ugh! Dogs do not make "choices". It infuriates me when these fanatics anthropomorphize animals.
It's also unicorn taming. Lots of dangerous people in the world made "bad choices" and continue to make "bad choices" but be as much of a doormat to them as you are to this dog and see how that turns out.

A chitbull!
My thoughts, exactly about the shelter, but also about the “chihuahua.” I knew the members of this sub would notice that, as well! We’re not stupid!
Any breed that’s mixed with pitbull genes bears the look, and I get the primal sense of “do not trust, no not allow it anywhere near you.”
Yeah ain't no way a chihuahua has brindle coloring or a face built like a pit
She’s not a bad dog. Just kills other dogs for fun. Seriously wtf. This has to be a mental illness, right? How do people not understand
Not to mention, other dogs that they have lived with and gotten along fine with. The truly spontanoues violent nature of these creatures is unreal. Love, like, loyalty, has nothing to do with it.

Exactly! I always think how would it sound if we changed "my new boyfriend" for the words "my pitbull."!

How is there any logic in that.
when sbitbulls murder they are the equivalent of graceful, powerful, timeless gods and goddesses of the ancient Greeks, duh

1 was all that was available
Thats 2 pitbulls, no chihuahua seen .Put the attacking dog where it will no longer be able to kill another animal or person. Best choice.
Probably a pit-chihuahua mix with more pit genes.
Sweet shibble just made a bad choice to murder another animal in our house. We keep her locked up because of her insatiable lust for blood but trust us! She’s just so sweet!!
Yeah, I always find the "no prior signs of aggression" claims dubious.

1000%
Yeah there's no way, they're just too ignorant or in denial.
That actually is part of the terror of pitbulls. They can act so pleasant and normal really for years and years. That's what pitbull mongerers don't realize. It's impossible to know when they are going to turn on and begin to sort destroying any victim they can reach.

I grew up on a homestead where it was common consensus that if a dog killed a chicken that was it. There was no tolerance for that kind of aggression.
"She made a bad choice"
Again with this bullshit. They always try to make pitbulls seem like they face existential questions of existence. It wasn't a choice. It was her natural instinct. The pitbull didn't weigh the pros and cons of killing that other dog.
got lost in the moment. passionate. should've been an artist.
If only they had been accepted by the art school.
Wait that was someone else.
Exactly, the anthromorphisizing is ridiculous.
She was, in fact, a bad dog.

Take this dangerous weapon from me and point it at your family and pets so I don't feel guilty 👍👍👍
But I thought chihuahuas are the aggressive ones???
Jarrell Texas hmmm they had an F5 tornado in the 90’s that swallowed whole houses and families! Sorry I got sidetracked. Bad dog.

it’s giving main character energy. 🙄
"She made a bad choice." No, you did.
Too dangerous to live with her family but OK to foist onto someone else for a repeat event?
Everybody help me. I can't have this dog in my home because it might murder something again. Please take it into your home instead! She's not a bad dog, just a dog that we're all terrified of.
"Help to rehome her to spare her life but also for my family to live without fear"

I don’t want to keep the dog since she killed our smaller dog. I just want to pass the killer dog onto someone else.
