Dog attack in Orimattila – Horrible consequences
Manu the dob died from his injuries and an 11-year-old girl suffered bruises in a dog attack in Orimattila, Finland. The police are investigating the incident.
Orimattila resident Jere Dahlqvist's 11-year-old daughter and 14-year-old dog Manu were involved in a shocking incident last week.
Dahlqvist says that his daughter was walking the family pug in the center of Orimattila on Tuesday [9 December 2025], right next to the family's house.
- Two free-roaming Amstaffs approached my daughter and Manu completely unexpectedly. One of the dogs attacked my daughter, Dahlqvist says.
According to Dahlqvist, the girl tried to protect Manu and managed to lift it into her arms.
- My daughter held on to it for dear life while the Amstaff jumped hard against her.
Eventually, the Amstaff knocked the girl down. According to Dahlqvist, the Amstaff began to bite and tear Manu from the girl's arms.
– She fought like hell managed to keep our dog in her arms.
According to Dahlqvist, a neighbor of the family arrived at the scene and temporarily got control of the Amstaff after a "wrestling for a long time." The neighbour urged the girl to run home.
– She soon came into the hallway with Manu in her arms. Then I heard a terrible scream from the yard, where the Amstaff tried to attack my spouse.
– My managed to get insider our home and barely succeeded in to pull the door shut on the Amstaff.
To the family's sorrow, the dog Manu had already suffered fatal injuries. The girl also suffered bruises on her knees.
– Manu had to be released from its pain. Fortunately, the girl was brought home unharmed.
A criminal report has been filed
Dahlqvist suggests that the case could have been even worse.
– It was a matter of seconds before that Amstaff could have gotten into our hallway, where our 1.5- and 5-year-old sons were.
The entire Dahlqvist family has been very shocked by what happened.
– Every night we have had long conversations with our daughter, Jere Dahlqvist says.
– You can only imagine what was going through our 11-year-old daughter’s mind when her best friend was almost mauled to death right before her eyes.
Dahlqvist has filed a criminal report with the police. Iltalehti has seen it.
The Häme police confirm that a criminal report has been filed under the heading of neglecting to guard an animal. Iltalehti could not reach the head of the investigation into the case for an interview.
According to the Criminal Code, neglecting to guard animal can result in a fine, and the court can order the animal to be put down.
Not the first time
According to Dahlqvist, the Amstaffs in question have attacked dogs living nearby before – with fatal consequences.
– Manu was already the third dog to be fatally attacked, he says.
According to Dahlqvist, criminal reports have been filed about the cases, but they have not led to a police investigation. In these cases, the attacks have only targeted dogs.
– In our case, a person has also been attacked. We hope that the police will now start investigating this.
According to Dahlqvist, the owner of the Amstaffs in question has been indifferent to the incidents.
– They keeps their dogs in a fenced backyard. However, the dogs have escaped from the yard through a door or a crack in the front door.
The family has not yet had time to think about getting a new pet.
– The incident is still so fresh in their minds that they have not yet thought about it.
This feels like the first one from Finland. These “dogs” are like an pandemic virus.
A lot of cases simply don’t make it into media. I know several dog maulings and other deeply messed up pitbull situations that everyone including media shy away from. It’s like these things enjoy protected status.
As someone that lives in Finland, it's not. People really believe the propaganda here and think bloodsports dogs are just "misunderstood". Everytime there is a mauling the news conceal the breed but eventually it comes out and it's a bully breed every single time.
There have been many more cases, but not all of them have been in the media.
The pattern seems to be the same world owner: aggressive breed and a negligent owner.
Sadly I don't think it's possible for any human to be able to keep a Bloodsport thing safe 100% of the time. Especially escape artist Bloodsport things.
But I think we would have less acquisition of them if the owners, handlers and breeders of these tragically mutant things receive severe punishments when they fail their dogs and their community. I think one of the worst punishments would be a lifetime ban on any dog handling or contact.
In the United States the FBI currently tracks those felons convicted of animal abuse, it's been proven that those who are cruel to animals are disproportionately dangerous to humans.
If this could be a nationwide law, the FBI could maintain the list of these felony animal abusers.
NO DOGS PERMITTED signs must be posted at the residence or other locations owned or rented by these convicted animal abusers.
Any dogs later found in their possession or on their property shall be immediately confiscated.
The law must include all dogs including even toy ones, even those never bred to be deadly aggressive, otherwise the risk is too great that these cruel felons will acquire a pug mix puppy that, oops, matures to be a game bred murder machine.
I feel certain that if publicized and enforced, this new breed neutral law would drastically reduce the Bloodsport beast crisis, and the horrific attacks that are everywhere Bloodsport things go.
No one is safe from these dogs. They always seem to escape, because the owners do not take the responsibility of owing murder beasts seriously. They are lethal and should not be allowed as "pets" OR as guard dogs. Seems like "somehow they always got out" and the owners have no fucking clue they are gone. They should not be allowed to own any dogs after their dogs attack someone or a pet. If it attacks a human it should be jail time. And a requirement to pay any victim's medical fees.
What a brave little girl.
I will never understand how dogs can fatally attack other people's pets and the authorities just shrug their shoulders. There have been multiple attacks by the same animals - something should have been done. Manu and this poor girl should never have been at risk because the dogs should have been BEd long ago.
The THIRD time? Christ even the US will get around to taking care of things. WTF is wrong with you, Finland? Get your head out of your ass. You’re supposed to be the intelligent grown ups
F those negligent owners and their weak yard fence, f them for choosing to own several bloodsport fighting dogs, f them for all the dogs their maulers killed, what a way to die. Bloody shameful and disgusting. Poor little old dog, poor child and family. Innocents just living their lives, forever traumatized by bloodsport dogs. F their owners to hell. So sick of reading these awful reports.
These neutral ground attacks and home invasions are 10x worse than organized dog fighting, where at least the dogs are matched by weight, it's only one against one, and the humans all choose to attend.
Dog fighting is animal abuse and cruelty. Breeding these dogs, and neglecting to keep these dogs snd the community safe should also be ruled animal Abuse and Cruelty.
Those who continue to promote the mongering of, the breeding of, and the acquisition of Bloodsport beasts are dog fighters. They may resist this accurate name, but it obviously is true.
Wow even an amazing country like Finland isn’t safe from these monsters. These dogs are a world wide menace!
"The owner of the Amstaffs in question has been indifferent to the incidents" And there's the problem. Nutters gonna nut, so we need severe penalties if other people or animals get hurt by their murder mutts.
