WARNING: final photo shows one of the gruesome injuries. WARNING: pictures posted in the comments section are EXTREMELY graphic, and are not blurred. Breed has been confirmed as a pitbull by OP/Victim in discussions on her FB page (see my screenshot below in comments). She has been attacked by pitophiles for reporting her story.
THIS POST CONTAINS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC PHOTOS IN THE POST AND IN THE COMMENTS.
If you are sensitive to that, you may want to skip this post.
I thought I was prepared for that picture, and no, no I was not.
Why would you want this?
Thanks for the warning. I won’t look at it. Just reading it is enough. Some people never learn.
There are photos of the injuries posted within the comments that are far more graphic.
this is like when in fargo lorne malvo warns the police officer:
"Because some roads you shouldn't go down. Because maps used to say, "There be dragons here." Now they don't. But that don't mean the dragons aren't there."
listen to this user; dragons be there down the scroll
Love this!
even the scroll fits in nicely :-) yeah, I simply love that quote too, the show and the work of coen brothers whose movie fargo served as an inspiration for noah hawley, the author of the series from which that quote is. recommendations for the movie and first three seasons of series.
I know. I just didn't think horrible enough.
This is why I stopped working with pit rescues. My stomach was in my throat reading that. I've been in a situation where this could have been me.
I don’t blame you. I’m a mail carrier and I’m scared every day. I’ve had people open the door and just let their dog at me, but I’ve been fortunate that it hadn’t been a pit.. yet. There’s no avoiding it. People are so irresponsible. No matter where you are or what you do, some airhead with a massive pit could be there.
I got pulled down by a rescue pit by my ponytail. I had worked with the dog for over a year. She was actually my favorite and was considering adopting her because she got a long with the staffy I had at the time. My staffy was wonderful, passed at 13.
When I turned to close the latch she jumped up, paws on my back, and grabbed my ponytail and pulled me to the concrete run floor. I was somehow able to grab her by her jowls, the skin on either side of her mouth and I think I sat on her and managed to get the slip lead around her neck and basically choked her out until she stopped trying to attack me. She was persistent.
When I was finally able to get her out of the run she went completely back to normal. I was so shaken I didn't know what to do so I just continued with a normal leash and obedience training. She was completely normal the whole time.
This was like 10 years ago and it still makes me nauseous to think about. I sobbed on the drive home. Lmao
ETA: she was tiny. Like 35lbs
This is why they're so scary and why "my dog is so loving and has never hurt anyone" doesn't matter with these dogs. They can go from being the most loving, relaxed dogs to full on mauling with zero build up. I have a friend whose house I no longer go to. She has a small rescue lab/pit mix. They've always been a bit hyper but overall loving and sweet. Last Thanksgiving they followed me into the kitchen and proceeded to corner me growling. This was out of nowhere. I'd never seen them be any sort of aggressive before. After that they went on their merry way and seemed completely fine ever since. I'm very very lucky all she did was growl. I'm glad you were able to get away safely!
This is what their supporters don't realize, how impulsive they are. They just decide instantaneously to attack, after behaving fine the rest of the time. I'm sorry that happened.
I am actually thankful it did. I was ass deep in pit propaganda. Like, had clothes with pit bulls on them. Used the word pibble. Said things like nanny dogs. The only rescues I worked with were bull breed rescues.
Even after the attack it took a couple years to fully pull myself out of it. Have strictly worked with herding and working breeds for years and I will never regret that decision.
This is so terrifying and heartbreaking! You adored this dog, you knew what you were doing, and not only did she snap but then she simply un-snapped. This is the saddest horror story I've ever heard.
I really liked her. She was a tiny, ugly little thing and was just goofy and dumb. It was the first time I really questioned the breed, even after handling reactive pits for years up until that point. For some reason it was never a red flag until that attack. So I'm actually grateful that it was the beginning of me asking up to the pit propaganda.
That must have been legitimately painful and confusing to start questioning. Nevermind I'm going to bet it also impacted some of your relationships.
I'll keep an eye out for your comments on this sub. My story is different but we have some similarities there. I still have photos from when I rode along with a PB's "rescue train" trip on the first leg, with the full trip crossing through several states. This was arranged by the local Animal Care and Control...
Shitbulls doing shitbull things. This breed needs to be banned. Period.
You know what the saddest part about this post?! All the pittie mommies defending the dog that did this. There are so many attacks from these dogs and so many victims are terrified to say anything because of the retaliation that will follow from the pit lovers. There are more and more victims in the news and only because a community has made it known to the media and they were fed up with the non stop fear of an attack or were tired of being attacked and threatened by the owners of these horrible animals. I really hope this lady is able to get something of her former life back and that people start paying attention to these breeds and start banning them.
I have posted a screenshot of the victim discussing the harassment she received.
I was attacked earlier this year, the killed the dog in self defense. And a few people I thought were my friends turned out to be crazy animal people that sincerely would have preferred I died rather than the dog.
Total insanity. I blocked those people.
This is insanity.
I admit I may like animals and don't wish harm on most of them (besides crocodiles, alligators and pitbulls for example), but I sincerely hope I never come across those people EVER. That is utterly disgusting, I'm so sorry :c
Indeed. It's like it follows a script every single time: "Maybe she was used as a bait dog and is traumatized by sweatshirts/ men/ breathing/ snacks. I know this is horrible but please don't blame all pits! My Luna is the sweetest girl and would never harm a fly!" Sometimes it's more aggressive in tone, other times there's the word 'racist' or 'ignorant' sprinkled in there. The window dressing changes, but the response from pit apologists is the same every. freaking. time: blame, deflect, deny, downplay, argue, more blame
I get so disgusted when they say "educate yourself." No, ma'am, YOU educate YOURSELF!
This is the best "Educate Yourself" response I have ever seen.
https://www.scribd.com/document/53260018/Educate-Now
I know it looks like standard pit bull BS but if you actually read it, it is an effective take down of most of pro pit slogans.
Could you direct me to the rest of the story/ where you saw this? My mobile access to Reddit is hideous and I'm also pretty new to the sub so I think I'm not locating everything correctly... Thank you!
"Educate Yourself" is from the great, sadly inactive, anti pit bull blog Craven Desires.
https://cravendesires.blogspot.com/
Many great things there including on of my favorites "Felony/ No Felony" NSFW Blood and gore warning. http://cravendesires.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-purple-testamant-of-bleeding-war.html
It documents the after effects of when a pit bull is set against another pit bull with the consent of both owners and how that is a felony. It then shows the carnage that pits do to pets that their owners owners that did not consent to be in a dog fight and how that equally severe carnage is NOT a felony. Many times it isn't even considered a crime.
It is one of the few blogs that I have read every entry multiple times.
Wow, thank you for this.
So much anxiety reading that.
I know.. I was gritting my teeth. It was like a horror movie. Uhg.
I'll say. I was expecting the trope of her closing the barn door only to find Buddy was already in there.
That would have SUCKED. But yeah I was thinking the same. Also expecting buddy to be waiting to attack again once she moved…
Found other pics of her injuries… I’m going to put them as replies because we can’t blur photos in comments, so there’s no way to warn that they are
EXTREMELY GRAPHIC.

My God. She is lucky to be alive.
Oh my god. This doesn’t look real. Like a Halloween prop. Is this the same arm in op’s last pic with the “bubble” ish thing on the elbow?
Yes I would think so. That bubble looks like a skin graft to cover the exposed parts of her arm.
How did she go 4 hours with injuries this extensive and not bleed out??
Her artery simply wasn’t severed, which is a fucking miracle
Damn lucky. Like the woman who survived an attack so severe she had all four limbs amputated. Most people don't survive those injuries.
So there are vains and there are arteries - if you cut an artery that’s it your donezo, unless that bleed is clamped or sealed with a tornicate you are gonna bleed out.
Vains and capillaries on the other had are a little more forgiving, if you cut one all the way across it’ll bleed for a bit and then deflate, when exposed to air the blood outside of it then coagulates and clots stopping the bleeding.
She is very very lucky the dog didn’t go for the underarm as you’ve got an artery there that is quite close to the heart and you won’t last long if it’s open.
So basically - nothing absolutely vital was cut and the bits that were cut were covered in enough blood to scab and clot and be held back (heavy movement or introduction of water on the wound can lead to them reopening tho, no never assume your safe if it’s “just” a vain)
Brings “bit by pit-bull” a little more meaning.
Seriously, photos like these should be shared when people are defending pit bulls who attack. A lot of people don't understand they aren't simply biting, they're literally tearing people apart and leaving them with life altering (or ending) injuries.
Oh wow, I didn't see these. Very lucky (unlucky) lady

Jesus christ how did she not lose her arms. How are they functional? This poor woman....
Looks like a Great White shark attacked her. Or maybe a Lion. Not a dog. Because they aren't dogs, they are monsters.
I cant even tell what part of the body is photographed in most of these. Harrowing
This was shocking to look at. These dogs suck so much
I thought it was pretty interesting that the dispatcher heard "dog attack" and immediately deduced she would need a life flight.
Due to the campaign to normalize these bloodsport dogs, attacks like this are becoming "normal," unfortunately.
If you’ve rung 911/999 instead of getting yourself to the hospital they know the bite is probably bad and you’ll need more than a stitch.
I want to see what Buddy looks like. Stupid ass dog.
https://preview.redd.it/tw73o2jvm38g1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=59177ef0378be186dd428fcf99c3029e7f28315f
Man he looks like my sister's dog Beth :c Ughh if Buddy wasn't that frickn color.. Frick him man. Why'd they even name him Buddy, that name doesn't fit AT all.
It’s wild how they change so fast. One minute they’re trying to.. you know, and the next sniffing you like nothing happened…? It’s like a possession. Super scary.
Holy cow. What a horrible experience. I’m just glad her kids and the first responders didn’t get attacked as well.
in the story from OP, didn’t it say buddy went after and attacked her son??? while waiting by the ambulance? yah I went back and re-read the story. 2nd to last paragraph.
OP says she learned later despite the dog being shot, the dog still “went after”-attacked or tried to attack… her son who went around an area and had to be tased. no mention of her son was injured by dog attack or if he was lucky enough to get away before injury occurred. wish we had a way to get ahold of OP to clarify this part. I really hope her son is ok. would be traumatic if her son was injured graphically after getting mom in ambulance and sending her to hosp.
I read it that it “tried to”… but who knows. Crazy story.
couldn’t agree more. this whole story is graphic and wild. I can only wish the best of healing for her injuries and whomever else might need healing from it. (physical OR mental)- as i’m sure seeing someone and having to help someone with such graphic Injuries doesn’t bode well for a normal persons mental sanity either. you don’t forget having to deal with a patient with those kinds of wounds.
There are days when I really wonder at the hubris of mankind, to breed dogs so vicious and then esteem to tame and save them from doing what they were made to do (fight).
I said it in another thread but bears repeating here: the crackhead running a dog fighting ring and the well intending rescuer trying to save fighting dogs both end in blood. She lived to talk about it, some don't.
Yeah but instead of dumping the inbred, aggressive, unwanted dogs, the rescuers are actively trying to place them into family homes knowing they won't even let their children around them. I say the shillers are more dangerous to the actual public and society at large. The dog fighters created this problem, but the rescuers are concealing their behavior and offloading them onto ignorant people
The dog fighters created the problem, the rescuers amplified the problem to the point of it becoming a plague.
I think of it as an aggressive* form of cancer, spreading ever outward.
*no pun intended
The worst part is a lot of people who fight these dogs pick them up from shelters, then into the ring they go until police take them and they go back to a shelter again
My Chihuahua has done much worse. They’re the real problem. Any dog can bite. /s
https://preview.redd.it/5trqhv26b48g1.jpeg?width=1164&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e0f2cb444b4a4489ae69a84311ea3ad8f5b940f
Here he is circling my grandson having been triggered by a waffle.
Everyone knows that if you leave any dog alone with a child, they will maul it. Chihuahuas are the most vicious breed and apparently cause more damage than a pit ever has. You should be ashamed! They aren't a nanny breed you know thats why theyre so evil
✨Educate yourself.✨
Lmao
You have me thinking though: in all seriousness, for Chihuahuas to do this much damage I sincerely think it would take 10+ of them and they'd need to all be rabid.
So basically it's never happened before and it never will either.
I don't think 100 Chis amped up on amphetamines could do even a quarter of the damage this lady experienced. I think three stitches is the worst Chi bite I've ever heard of, and location mattered in that incident. (I'm foggy on details, somewhere in the hand, finger webbing might have been involved.) I'm not saying worse damage hasn't happened, ever, I'm just not familiar with any stories worse than that one. It's apples to oranges. Sometimes hard Chihuahua bites bruise but don't even break skin. They simply don't have the jaw power to do more damage. Pits were literally bread to have jaws capable of breaking the thickest bones in an animals body. They have zero place in family homes or amongst people in general. This lady's story is absolutely horrifying and it's not like this is an "unusual" outcome for a pit attack. Well, unless you want to argue that it's amazing/unbelievable that she even survived. Her survival is the only real anomaly, here.
Mods have asked for confirmation of breed. This is a social media thread where the victim discusses the vitriol thrown her way after being bitten badly by this pit.
https://preview.redd.it/qklatsmye48g1.jpeg?width=1332&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5093ca854f33b11a176f01e22dcd3159e25ab480
Bloody hell, 6 weeks in a burns unit! That's insane!
this poor woman. she is lucky to be alive.
I'm very glad this person is alive. I'm sorry for the severe pain and long term disability she is going to suffer. My first thought based on the title was a rescue worker like EMS. While no one deserves what happened to this person this is a situation they essentially put themselves in. If you rescue pits this is more likely to happen to you. They knew this dog was dangerous (keeping them separate and not allowing the daughter near) yet they continued to keep them and not even muzzle (not saying they never do but clearly they don't always.) I hope they have an amazing medical team and can come out as mentally unscathed as possible. I also hope this opens their eyes and at the very least to not allow their daughter around random rescue dogs at all. I personally would never be able to do it at all after this but I don't know how they'll feel. Those injuries were horrific.
OMG. OMFG.
Whenever I read the "any dog can bite" argument I feel like I should take one of these photos, post it, and respond "OTHER BREEDS DON'T DO THIS".
I have - and as is predictable - the pitnutter responds with either victim blaming ("What did she do to provoke the dog to do that?") or downplaying it ("That's an exception. Plus, you can't even prove that's from a pitbull. Most people can't even identify a pitbull you know.")
Your mind and my mind do not look at things the same way as a pitnutter's mind.
Their new one is “sounds like sudden onset rage syndrome”
Wait, is this something people invented and are claiming now?!
Yep - I was explaining to someone the other day how a pit mauled my step father, one we’d known since it was a pup and it was well loved, they said it was this rage syndrome and I was blaming the whole breed for a sick dogs actions.
I'm so sorry to hear this nonsense. What complete cruelty of these people.
I remember reading this before but it's the first time I've seen a photo. It's utterly horrifying, it's like her arm has been trapped in a piece of farm machinery.
I just read a horror movie script, that was harrowing and the injuries are ghastly! May she heal completely.
This is the 2nd worst injured survivor I have ever seen. Jacqueline Durand is still the worst. I can't imagine the pain these ladies will suffer for the rest of their lives. Rest in h3ll, where you belong, Buddy.
And nothing happened to the owners of the two dogs that attacked her, correct? 😡
Horrific injuries
What would the kind folk at the Humane Society and Best Fiends say if they saw this? "An accident"? How can they sleep at night?
What a miracle and an amazing will to live. I think most people wouldn't have half the composure she did to think of how to get the dog to (possibly) stop attacking while in her condition.
The fact that Buddy had to be kept separate *should* say a lot. This should be a warning to all the "crate and rotate" people - before it's too late.
Plus they are more prone to resource guarding, which is not just food and toys, etc. but also/ especially their enclosures.
Months back I posted my own story of an attack that left me trapped overnight until I decided the beast had Inflicted the last bite and those photos were pretty gruesome so I scrolled to the last photo on this attack.OMG
It makes my injuries look like a skinned knee. I know the pain and utter helplessness of imagining I would die if I allowed another round of those jaws tearing at my skin because every round was worse than the last. Not sure about reposting this because I now have it hidden. I’m wary of the blame pit mommies bombarded me with. Blaming the victim is something else heaped on top of physical injuries. Again, my injuries pale in comparison tho this rescue workers’.
Sorry if this has triggered you, and you are right to do what you need to do to avoid the pitophile's rabid responses.
I'm so very sorry to hear you've suffered a PB attack. And I completely understand you wanting to stay under the radar.
Some of these PB apologists are as bad as the dogs, I swear.
Oh my God!!! How horrible!
What if (and hear me out) people put two and two together and realize it's a breed problem?
I’m shocked that someone with livestock would have such a dangerous animal around.
my jaw was on the FLOOR at the photo. there is no way a DOG did this what in the fuck. i have seen SHARK BITES more tame than that. and “attacked by pitophiles” HELL NO. pitbulls have the most irresponsible, reprehensible owners on earth that are afraid of accountability almost as much as they’re afraid of training their dog.
But didn't you know it's how you raise them? All the pitophiles online have special magic training techniques to stop them attacking.
Ironically, there's a show called twisted whiskers with a pitbull character who resembles a shark
I currently work in the medical field, have assisted with autopsies, worked as an intern embalmer, and these are some of the most horrific injuries I’ve ever seen. To put this as gently as possible, I’ve seen human on human homicide victims with lesser bodily injury. It’s a miracle that poor woman survived. I truly wish the best for her and her family.
Unbelievable she managed to save herself; first walking out onto the road and then retreating to her room for fluids and rest before calling 911.
The will to survive that people have is amazing. It’s a miracle she was able to do all of that. This was really shocking to read and see, but it’s important for the public to be educated.
Geez...
II could read all did they to reattach the arm??
Most of the pit mommies in the comments are probably going "Oh HoW dArE yOu HaVe BuDdY bE sHoT, hE dIdN't Do AnYtHiNg!!!"
