My brothers reactive pitbull attacked me a couple months ago. Now everyone in the household has the same scars on their arms. Out of all the dogs we’ve ever owned I think the pitbulls have been the most ungrateful. This dog for example gets fed homemade meals every single day plus he only drink purified water, and he still goes around biting everyone. Now I see why people hates this breed so much. I can’t wait to move out so I never have to deal with that raggedy dog anymore.

  • You are not safe in that house. It’s already biting everyone, eventually it is going to bite and not let go. These dogs are known for going for the throat. If you are a minor please talk to your guidance counselor or a trusted adult about this. Maybe even go get your bite looked at and say you think you need antibiotics, hopefully the doctor will even report it. That dog needs to be removed from the house immediately before your family ends up tragically on the news. I’m sorry you are going through this.

  • The dog reacted to a normal situation by being aggressive. Just say aggressive.

Or my personal favorite, vicious. "Reactive" is my normally chill dog running around and seriously trying to kill the garden hose when I turn it on. He hates it😂.

A real lab mix has to be an awesome dog. Sad that so many pit bulls have been labeled lab mixes that people don't even know what a lab mix looks like anymore.

People keep asking me if she has pointer in her because “her face is too narrow to be a lab” like no honey, it’s just the mix isn’t 90% blockhead bully

  • OP, we have seen many maulings from "good angel Pitts" ending lives recently. Including pet sitters.

Also horrid, many maulings where the person is so disfigured it cannot be repaired- again from "angel" pits.

If you have any pets, time is ticking. I will suggest putting the dog down immediately, and not passing the problem to someone else. Shelters and rescues lie to get pibble to a new home and everyone suffers. Shelters will not take back a biting dog, usually. Rescues love to lie, rescues problem dogs and give them perfect scores. It is sick. They also tend to dox and shame victims online.

Many of us are animal lovers too, only passionate about getting this problem under control.

Thisss. I am the biggest animal person I know! I was a vegetarian for over a decade because I couldn’t stand the thought of animals suffering (but had to stop due to health reasons, now I buy local humanely raised whenever possible). I’ve volunteered at wildlife rehab organizations, I’ve volunteered with rescue orgs and humane societies, I’ve fostered, I’ve taken in strays, picked up injured wildlife, originally went to school for vet medicine … the list goes on.

I LOVE animals. But human safety always comes first, and these dogs aren’t safe for humans or other animals.

I really resonate with what you say. I am also an animal lover. When I wad in University I volunteered for two years at the local dog shelter. I want a pet dog again soon and I love animals(half the family is vegetarian and we eat vegetarian at home though I do order meat sometimes when we eat out. I make food choices whenever possible to minimize animal suffering (like we get our milk locally delivered from a cow friendly farm).

BUT I value human life over the life of a vicious dog. According to pit apologists and child haters that means I hate dogs. 😡😡

  • "Reactive" = aggressive & violent

    "Mouthy" = bites

    "Wiggle-butt/Curious/dramatic" = out of control

"Working on manners with k ats" = has already att acked (and probably already oopsied) ka tts

"Is mostly a gentleman but is trying so hard!" = still untrained & out of control

"Loves giving kisses" = will slobber all over you, tongue-bathe you, eat all your furniture & property

Shelters, rescues, owners all creatively write profiles like it's the Writing Olympics.

  • Anyone in that home is in danger of being Kd.

  • This is not reactive, reactive is your hand being bit because it's the closest thing to the I HATE YOU GET OUT OF MY SPACE dog and it "reacts" by snapping at the closest thing.

Arms and forearms is aggression. There's no occams razor explanation for it striking there unless it likes something meaty to thrash.

  • You should file a complaint with animal control so that they know the dog is a problem. That way if it has to p** d*** in the future it can be. 🙌

  • You must have done something to cause this. Did you apologize to the owners? s/.

That fugly mutt tried to bite me because I had a bowl in my hand. He bites everyone for the stupidest reasons. The owner is aggressive and punches holes in walls, he should definitely not own a pitbull but he’s an adult so nothing can be done about that.

So your brother punches holes in the walls, and the dog bites everyone? Why are you living in this dysfunctional shitbox?

Because I’m broke ? If I could move out I would

Who owns the house? If that thing pops off and disfigures one of your faces, that’ll be potentially hundreds of thousands that won’t be covered by insurance, or the house will be taken if it attacks someone else that doesn’t live there.

  • What’s “reactive”? lol. Put that beast down asap.

  • Agressive. Let's call it as it is.

  • It’s important to have the bites looked at by a doctor and insist on antibiotics. After I was attacked, the ER doctor told me they don’t routinely give antibiotics for dog bites. Less than a week later I was in the hospital with a severe infection and needed a surgical consult for my leg.

Wow that’s so scary. This happened months ago the dog took a couple of bites before the owner restrained him. He wouldn’t let go of my arm it was so painful. There was blood all over my arms but I didn’t go to the ER. My mom cleaned me up and applied glue to the wound. She told me the scars would disappear but they never did. Thankfully I didn’t get an infection I guess I got lucky. Are you okay now ? Did you end up needing surgery?

Oh wow, jeez, your mom's response is really shitty. Please get out of there, quick like a bunny!

Most of my mom’s behavior has always been shitty. I’m hoping I can move out soon enough at least by next yr.

Are you still a minor, by any chance?

    No I’m an adult.

I see. I ask because your options for help are different while still a minor, or an adult as you are now.

I'm estranged from my family and it was the best decision I've ever made for myself (now over 2 decades later).

Depending upon where you are, phone help lines can sometimes direct you to support for things like legal aid, housing resources, and other ways to deal with or leave the situation you are in.

There are national entities too but I don't know how helpful these are.

Unfortunately those resources aren’t available to me because my parents immigrated to America when I was 2. They purposely denied me my SSN/work permit in my senior yr of hs so I wouldn’t move out and go to college. Now that program has been closed for new applicants. It honestly feels like an abusive situation I can’t escape from.

  • There is no such thing as a reactive pit. If you know what I mean….

  • Go to the police

  • I often fear this will happen to me because of my neighbor's aggressive pit bull. I first realized the dog could be a threat when it charged me and tried to run into my room; I slammed the door just in time to keep it out of my space. It also jumped up on a door and growled when it saw me outside. Then, I had a run-in with the dog in the hallway, and it reacted to my presence by growling, bearing its teeth, barking and lunging; its body language showed it perceived me as a "threat." Its owner had to slam it behind a door to stop it. In that moment it was clear it would have attacked me if it had the chance. Now I have to make sure the dog isn't there every time I leave the house (I noticed that it's also aggressive to other people when he takes it outside). One of the main problems with pit bulls is that they become reactive suddenly and for no apparent reason - they can be "fine" for months (or even years) and then maul someone out of nowhere

We already had a pitbull turn on us before. It was unexpected we’ve never seen him react like that before. It seems to be a common occurrence with this breed no matter how good you treat them. I can’t believe your neighbors pitbull almost went into your room. That’s really scary I would get cameras for evidence. That’s a dangerous dog for sure I hope you stay safe.

Girl get a kn*fe on you when around the house or sum im scared for you

  • Listen to me here - do not ever get down on the dogs level, pits will go for the throat and their attack style is grab, shake and not let go until the thrashing stops.

Avoid the dog as much as possible and I hope you get away from them soon

  • Are you the only person who is bothered by this? Surely your parents aren't ok with a dog that bites everyone - especially not when one of those people is their child!

Is there anyone you can talk to who could report this to animal control if you don't feel able to?

  • I think it time to put that monster down?!? Everyone has these marks, where are the adults to this house hold?

  • They’re not “ungrateful”. They’re genetically bred bloodsport dogs. They’re just doing what they do. Like a herding dog herds. A bloodsport dog draws blood. My advice is to avoid contact with the dog at all costs before it seriously hurts you.

  • This is aggression, not being "reactive". Normal dogs don't bite people unprovoked like this. I am sorry that you have to live with this dog. Is there any way you could get your brother to keep a muzzle on it at least?
