My first character is an female Open Hand Tavern Brawler Monk who looks surprisingly like my wife. I enjoy watching her punch things into oblivion. It might have awakened something in me.
Wait, there's a game outside of character creation? I thought Act 2 means creating the guardian character. Always get stuck thinking about chemistry and start over.
I got my spouse a PS5 this year for their Bday because they wanted to play BG3 with me. I already had 600 hours in the game on my PC back in 2023- but was still experiencing new content and subclasses from the same game I bought then now in 2025.
How many games can claim that shit?? No Man's Sky won their version of it. If anyone is bothered that BG3 got this award , out of anyone I really got to ask what other game did then...?
I got to play a freakin Swarmkeeper Ranger class in a D&D game in 2025. Who the fuck bothers to cater to Ranger players in 2025??? That shows dedication imo
best redemption story of all gaming in my opinion cus its what made the whole redemption story popular but unlike every other one that claims to be one they didint shaft you by selling you the solution with dlcs n store content.
you bought the game and to this day every single update free zero microtransactions
Yeah I told my friend as this whole thing started that best ongoing game should easily go to NMS 10x over because of the love they've put into it at no additional cost to the customer. They've gone from negative to overwhelmingly positive on steam, rather than giving up, changing their company name, and trying something new. RESPECT.
Haha his blunder was hilarious in hindsight. Would be funny if they were playing 4D chess all along and they were like "Let's let Sean Murray go on camera and fuck our shit up, because our game isn't ready yet but we have to release and the stuff we have planned will take us from rags to riches!"
Pretty easy to not sell dlc’s when the game makes a few million in its first few months for a piece of crap. No one would have bought the DLCs for a game that released in its awful state anyways.
It is still quite a turd when viewed objectively. After 9 years of development the game still barely has any content and provides a pretty awful player experience.
Hard to argue after they opened up their in house mod toolkit for those who wanted to build them. How they’ve continued to care about BG3 made this new divinity game an instant purchase imo
Hard to argue after they opened up their in house mod toolkit for those who wanted to build them.
Larian is great and maybe deserves the award (No mans sky really qualifies for the reward more imo), but worth noting that they didnt actually do this. Modders had to essentially Crack toolkit to have full access and nothing made with the cracked kit can be approved for consoles
There's a lot of mods that physically cannot get console approved buddy. Like custom races, not something they gatekept but rather something they couldn't find a work around for no matter how much they worked with mod creators.
Also wtf are you on about, IF what you're saying is true then Larian is still okay with people cracking their game to make it more fun for them and other players. Something other companies would punish fans for. Do you not get how fucking awesome that is? Bg3 has BEENN working for fans. Hell they pushed hard for a Baldur's gate mod to be allowed on a completely different game than Baldur's gate!
There's a lot of mods that physically cannot get console approved buddy. Like custom races, not something they gatekept but rather something they couldn't find a work around for no matter how much they worked with mod creators.
And thats not at all the case for this. Larian just straight up wont approve mods made with the unlocked toolkit. This goes for console or PC in-game mod manager. There is 0 tech reason for them to deny these mods access to the PC in game mod manager since they allow the race mods that consoles cant have.
Also wtf are you on about, IF what you're saying is true
Why are you going on such a rant about something if you havent even bothered doing a quick search to inform yourself about it first? There is no if about it at all. The toolkit has a lot of its features locked by default and it wasn't until Moonglasses cracked the other parts did we have access to the rest of it. If all of this is new information to you then maybe dont make claims about it?
Larian is still okay with people cracking their game to make it more fun for them and other players.
Proof of that? Because we have proof of them not being okay with it since they locked that portion of the toolkit in the first place and they wont approve any of the mods.
Something other companies would punish fans for.
A ton of games support their modding communities. Regardless, my entire comment was purely in response to how Larian did not give the community the full toolkit like the comment I was replying to claimed they did.
Honestly just the fact you were able to recognize and admit that you should have looked it up first instead of doubling down makes you a better person than 99% of redditors, so no worries!
The fact that "Best Community Support" and "Best Ongoing Game" are separate awards is ridiculous. How does one differ from the other?
The game awards are a joke, it's nothing but thinly-veiled ads for 3-4 hours, with some mutual backslapping by industry folks interspersed between. I'm sure it's fun to get dressed up though.
It's funny that some fans of each are arguing the other should have won the one they didn't. Can we just be happy there are two great developers listening to the community and pushing huge free updates for their games years down the line? Hopefully it becomes a trend and we all win!
fair but i wouldt say its outright a joke, it just has some categories that are a desperate attempt to claim eny good rep like innovation in accessibility, like legit this only exists so that assassins creed or fifa had ENY chance to claim they got rewards lol, they didint but i did see what they did there.
outside dat well claire obscure got like 9x rewards, only category i disagree with would be best rpg would be kingdom come, dont get me wrong claire obscure is great but as an rpg? nah kingdoms waaaay ahead of it great games both.
so id say single player games 9x-shitty excex games 0 yet again
Agreed, love BG3 but what community support did the game really get this year? A new subclass for each class, thats it really? The other games have done much much more
It’s 12 new subclasses - one for each class, with new spells. They also added crossplay. You can argue the second one is whatever if you don’t play online, but the subclasses actually impact how you play the game. Someone like Ubisoft would charge 30$ for it. This was free.
Bear in mind this was not a promised feature or content at launch that took them a while to implement. They did it just because.
They are also still doing hotfixes, even after they said they are done with updates.
The Linux port was a hobby project from one developer who wanted to play on his steam deck, and after they saw the potential they dedicated a full team to it, just because.
Warframe not even being nominated makes this awards pretty bs. The games been out for 15 years and is still get top tier content coming out regularly and the devs live stream to 30k viewers every week addressing concern, doing Q&A, and just showing off the game. No other company comes remotely close to DE in community support.
Those folks were advocating for it...for a game where the dev break ghe game every 3 months and need an apolology letter and a 60-days fix plan everytime
The amount of time they nerfed fun stuff just because
Or the times they broke the game mechanics without even testing their game
This is crazy
There are still crazy bugs that brick high end machines, misaligned scopes for a shooter,
Enemy targeting the host more than the other players,
Dot inconsistent, enemies shooting beyod cover.
New content is locked behind paid dlc.
This game does not deserve shit.
I dont share all the criticisms you have but i agree 90%. The game has a lot of justified friction between the devs and player-base, as much as i hate to admit it since i love the game. Id still give Helldivers2 a steady and solid “B+”. Very good but could be truly great
I've played it recently and it is still an amazing game with a lot of features and definitely a lot of fun.
However the player count is incredibly low nowadays compared to last year.
I stopped playing for long periods because the game was unplayable on my good computer.
AND they just nerfed everything fun to the ground. Now it's better but at some point they nerfed the whole Democratic Detonation warbond + a thousand other weapons for no reasons. + sentries deployment + hellpod navigation + broke the spear again + collision on Bots + dot + stuff I'm probably forgotten.
Still a decent game but It could have been one for the ages.
They shot themselves in the foot during their peak and now it's still there but it's not the same.
Did you play on Oshaune caves ? That shit was broken af.
Hivelords and burrowers tracking and teleporting to you above ground, Pelican broken, reinforcing on top of the cave outside the map,...
So yeah still a decent and fun game but nowhere near the best community support.
Yeah I played the Oshaune stuff, it was very rough no doubt. I’m fortunate I play on ps5 so I didn’t have much of the stability issues outside of the weapon customisation crash for a while there. One day it just stopped happening? No idea why it wasn’t after a patch or anything specific. I’ve stopped playing as much since I hit 150 a few months ago. But yeah, the balance changes and the poor communication regarding them is pretty much the crux of the issue I have with them myself. Insult to injury is how toxic the community can be about criticism levied at the game. It’s never an acknowledgment that players who love the game also have issues with it and always “everyone whines too much”. I think there’s water to pointing out excessive negativity but it’s kind of levied at everyone regardless of how much the individual brings up issues and all it does is cuck everyone out of getting their points across and further antagonise everybody. But oh well, when I browse the subs I upvote people criticising the game just as much as the people praising it. I’m in a weird spot cause I’m one of the tryhards that max’d everything and finds the game fairly easy, but I’m also very pro-casual player and don’t want the game balanced around players like me. I could still enjoy it if it was harder but I don’t want the experience to suffer for the casual players which I feel is the life blood of the game and games like it.. it’s important players “feel” effective which is a vague thing to capture in balance updates. I’d prefer arrowhead nerf things like reinforcement counts or have some whackier modifiers on D10 rather than do things like: +30% durability to incredibly common chaff enemies..
Which ultimately just increases TTK in a subtle way, but with enough incremental changes it can start to make the players feel like they’re just dealing with sponge after sponge like upping the difficulty in a Bethesda game..
What does "Best Community Support" mean? A community who is supportive of the game and its success? A community who supports the game by reporting bugs or creating mods?
The other way around. It's a game developer that nourishes its community. Releasing in-game mod browser, mod tools and creating a whole ecosystem around it, all for free, is an example of nourishing the BG3 modding community.
A developer that continues to support the game & community - Larian still helps people who even have trouble with mods in the mod manager, not to mention patch 8 earlier this year.
Larian treated this game like it was still in early access and very selectively listened to feedback. I'm not a Wyll fan but his character got neutered and then pretty much abandoned in favor of several patches addressing minor Astarion changes. Also, if we're counting mod support, then Bethesda should win this every year because of how mod-friendly the games are.
Really glad they got this one, the devs have been amazing with all the patches and actually listening to what players want. I remember when everyone was complaining about the inventory system being clunky and they completely overhauled it in like two months.. plus they keep adding quality of life stuff nobody even asked for. The modding support alone deserves recognition, they could've just left it basic but they went all out making sure the community could create whatever they wanted. Most AAA studios would've dropped support after the first DLC but Larian just keeps going.
I love BG3 and Larian so much. Their community support has obviously been wonderful...exemplary even. Having said that, I'm not really sure they deserved this one more than other devs who are fully focused on supporting their game, rather than having most of their talent and efforts working towards their next game, as Larian is. And I'm so excited that they're working on divinity. The cinematic teaser was insane! I wouldn't want Larian to do anything different than what they're doing, but was another team not a bit more deserving of the best community support at this point? The favorite child syndrome here just seems a bit blatant to me. 🤷
I screamed when they won this lol. I disagree that some people are saying they didn’t deserve this because I feel they absolutely did. Can’t wait to try their new game!!
in that case, it should be fortnite or no man's sky. fortnite has been one of the largest games in the world for nearly a decade now, and has continued to maintain relevancy through the myriad of different modes, updates, and cosmetics theyve added. no man's sky, on the other hand, has made one of the greatest video game comebacks ever, only rivaled by cyberpunk. i love bg3, but it shouldnt have won.
if theyre mutually exclusive, why were they nominated for both?
also, theyre just...not mutually exclusive. if anything, the categories compliment each other. do you think community support means supported by the community? it's the opposite. it's the developers supporting the community.
You are getting downvoted, but I agree. Sadly even more other rewards made no real sense and were disappointed. E33 is just blind sighting every other game. I expect every judge to have played E33, but not KCD2 for example.
This is why Wuthering Waves was able to win Player's Choice since it's 100% player-voted (Though I do like the game so it deserved it yes yes very legit).
Now they need to talk to the helldivers 2 optimization crew about how to reduce the file size so I can reinstall it! They brought helldivers down from 150gigs to 25, I have faith they can do the same to bg3!
Pretty sure the reason HD2 has such an absurdly large installation footprint is because they’re trying to optimize it for people who still use HDDs. Most of the bloat is duplicated assets, to make loading and unloading easier.
BG3’s large file size is due to the sheer number of unique assets and their fidelity. Textures are way higher resolution than they were 10-15 years ago, and we have way more unique voice lines than we used to, plus they’re often fully localized. When you have hours of music and dialogue instead of repeating a few songs and spoken phrases over and over, the file size continues going up. Same thing with reused assets, they’re less common now than they used to be.
Go back and play an older RPG like the Mass Effect series. It’s a very modern game, the dialogue trees are fully voiced for both the player and the NPCs. The first game actually ran out of disk space and I’m pretty sure both the second and third games needed two disks to play. Even then, assets are constantly reused.
The first game does it most often, but the others do as well. Props in a scene often use the same objects at different scales to make different things. A pizza box in one of the DLCs is using the same textures as the open ammo crates scattered around each level. Various gun turrets, especially heavy anti-aircraft batteries, are made out of enlarged sniper rifles. The shuttle in the third game has cannons mounted on its sides that are actually enlarged shotgun models.
All games reuse assets, but it’s becoming less common because it’s more of a point of criticism these days when it’s noticed. Console games get installed now, the same as PC games have always done. So console players expect parity with PC versions instead of the entirely separate games they used to make 20 years ago. This means having install sizes between 50-150 GB.
Not every game that eats up tons of space has been properly optimized, but BG3 is one of those games that can’t have its file size trimmed down like Helldivers just did.
These same people here would have complained and called it a rigged popularity poll had baldurs gate lost. I have hundreds of hours on this game. Sorry but it did not deserve to win this category
much as i love the game, "releasing updates" is not community support. releasing an unfinished product and spending the next two years trying to fix what you should've to begin with is not community support. it's one step above the sims team, lol. crazy work
I sort of agree with what you say for the most part, but as a software dev myself, I think the 'unfinished product' is a insane exaggeration. It is absurdly difficult to down right impossible to release games of this size (or any games ar all tbh) completely bugfree. Like yeah bg3 shouldn't have won the award, but unfinished product is a insane statement, too.
I agree with you but you're better off talking to a brick wall. This sub doesn't take criticism very well, even if it's deserved. Truth is, Larian didn't deserve this award and won because of it being the popular vote . Should've been No Man's Sky imo.
I just started a new run. I'm using mods this time so that I can build up level 20 chars. Then play trials of tav. For the run, 6 party members. All game characters like a big party talking to each other in every encounter. There's a mod that let's you select which response of the party to give in the dialogue choices through quests. In a previous set of games I created three characters and played them with only one game character. I rarely play a female in a game, but this time I am. I wonder if I can get a full female party. Laezel easy. Karlach, sure. Shadowheart def. Minthara yes. Jaheira sure. Respec a couple completely. Have to mix and match depending on the encounter though. The point to all this, is that it is no way like the other times i played the game.
This game is a masterpiece. I've had it since early release.
okay but bg3 is a single player game with a one time payment and not a live service product. I won't necessarily say it was the most deserving of those up there, I think at least no man's sky should be heavily considered and I could listen to arguments for helldivers, but I would put it definitely above fortnite and as a person who put objectively too much time into FFXIV I would say it beats that too right now. BG3 goes above and beyond for what kind of game it is, where support for this long (completely for free) is not normal or expected at this point, where FFXIV for instance is in a period of decline as the devs are only just finally starting to listen to some demands players have been making for years while entirely ignoring others.
pffft, I'm a helldivers stan and even I know they don't deserve it. The game has been busted for many months since into the unjust came out. The ship is finally now being righted but they let technical debt accumulate so quickly and they weren't really dealing with it in a timely manner until the community exploded about it.
Me in the character creation screen for my 40th run.
https://i.redd.it/mw3lpt34xo6g1.gif
100 hours in CC and end up making a generic john divinity character
Not me bruh, straight male fantasies is always playing as a hot chick in RPGs.
Blue tiefling or drow?
I feel called out, my first two characters were a blue tiefling and a drow… the drow was a femboy tho, not a girl lol
Would.
Me too. 1st - purple tiefling woman, warlock eldritch blast. 2nd - drow woman, seldarin paladin.
Canonical drow male
Blonde high elf
always the blonde elves, my CC always defaults to that
Dragonborn.
Drow with a human shade of her skin is the hottest character you can make
Which face?#2 ?
Redheaded dwarf.
My first character is an female Open Hand Tavern Brawler Monk who looks surprisingly like my wife. I enjoy watching her punch things into oblivion. It might have awakened something in me.
Hit that goblin so hard it landed in a different rpg series.
200 hours of trying to decide what character to play...
Another run of my favorite fantasy race basic human fighter.
I keep trying to make a evil paladin that steals the hand of vecna and grafts it to himself
I did my part! Even though I got stuck in Act 2.
And head back to character creation right?
Wait, there's a game outside of character creation? I thought Act 2 means creating the guardian character. Always get stuck thinking about chemistry and start over.
Not for the 40th hour?
2100th
Straight? 40 hours barely gets you into act 2.
Meant in character creation
The mod creator who made the Wither's Big Naturals mod is beaming right now. Larian boss actually mentioned it in his last video update LOL

I feel like you really wanted to use this meme so you tried your best to make it fit
SO IT HAS BEEN AWARDED, SO SHALL IT BE SO
Allow us awards in this plane and beyond,
I wish to Larian all the awards. Health, wealth, love, and above all... games worth making
Funny you should say that, they've just announced their next game with a teaser trailer.
So sayeth the wise Alaundo
So mote it be...
Love to see that BG3 isn't even new anymore and still snagging Game Awards. As they should.
2 years pass Larian: Forgot one, sorry.
Also here is the most wild game announcement since skyrim, cya
That Trailer went so hard. Really looking forward to their new game
Might be my favorite game announcement at an awards show since Skyrim in terms of spectacle! Absolutely wild they hid that tower in Joshua tree too
What trailer? Don't remember that one !
This trailer
Warning. It's pretty gnarly.
Pretty sure the big class patch was early this year, hard to compete with that
I got my spouse a PS5 this year for their Bday because they wanted to play BG3 with me. I already had 600 hours in the game on my PC back in 2023- but was still experiencing new content and subclasses from the same game I bought then now in 2025.

Not Hasbro :p
Well there are lots of categories that don't factor in how long a game has existed.. No Man's Sky took one and it was released 9 years ago.....
Also deserved very much. That had a turd and they refined it into gold.
best redemption story of all gaming in my opinion cus its what made the whole redemption story popular but unlike every other one that claims to be one they didint shaft you by selling you the solution with dlcs n store content.

I think Cyber Punk has a better Redemption arc but No Man's Sky is also gold

meanwhile no mans sky snatched best ongoing XD
Well deserved for Larian. Their fans and divinity's are feasting good in the next years
I'm so proud of Larian!
Topical considering he won a Game Award as well.
Yeah baby whooo
Hard to argue after they opened up their in house mod toolkit for those who wanted to build them. How they’ve continued to care about BG3 made this new divinity game an instant purchase imo

That's actually very fair, definitely should've looked into it more before making an offhand comment, apologies!
How incredibly fucking refreshing have an upvote
Honestly just the fact you were able to recognize and admit that you should have looked it up first instead of doubling down makes you a better person than 99% of redditors, so no worries!
I do wonder though if it was primarily a Larian decision, or a WOTC decision
WOTC would sue Larian out the ass if they let cracked toolkit mods be approved by Larian.
I didn’t actually play the game until patch 8 and the mod manager was in house so my bad on the whole history portion of the show.
A new divinity game?! How did I miss that announcement!
Divinity: Original Sin 2 was my favorite game for the longest time, I’m so excited.
Love this game so much
Patch 8 was incredible, well deserved
It’s still fucking winning awards bahahahahah
The year is 2194. BG3 won another award at The Game Awards.
Patch 8 was an incredibly generous bit of free content: well deserved
Sven, making games, not because he wants to make games. But because no one's making the games he wants to play.
The fact that Fortnite was even or could even be nominated is laughable beyond my mortal comprehension.
Well deserved.
Not gonna be a popular opinion here, but I do not think this game should have won. Lol. But hey, love seeing Larian get some love for this game.
Nah I agree. I love bg3 so much, but I think No Man's Sky deserved this one.
No Man’s Sky got Best Ongoing Game.
Best Community Support is taking in feedback and reacting to it. Like removing MTX from RS3.
Best ongoing is releasing new content for a game that didn't come out this year.
BG3 can be argued to have done the latter.
I mean NMS listened to players and released corvette’s. They take feedback all the time
It's funny that some fans of each are arguing the other should have won the one they didn't. Can we just be happy there are two great developers listening to the community and pushing huge free updates for their games years down the line? Hopefully it becomes a trend and we all win!
its literally that meme:
"Waiter waiter, my steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery"
They always were a joke.
That's just a PR event.
Also Sven had the best outfit in that show ever 2 years ago.
fair but i wouldt say its outright a joke, it just has some categories that are a desperate attempt to claim eny good rep like innovation in accessibility, like legit this only exists so that assassins creed or fifa had ENY chance to claim they got rewards lol, they didint but i did see what they did there.

so id say single player games 9x-shitty excex games 0 yet again
I think the game has a bit too many big, unfixed bugs to win this price.
Agreed, love BG3 but what community support did the game really get this year? A new subclass for each class, thats it really? The other games have done much much more
They made a pretty big free patch this year to make it run more efficiently on the steam deck
And NMS has pretty big free patches every 3 months.
Which has actual content not steam deck things.
BG3 patch 8 was this year. That was actual content.
Is that the subclasses that the other person mentioned when they said "is that really it?"?
It’s 12 new subclasses - one for each class, with new spells. They also added crossplay. You can argue the second one is whatever if you don’t play online, but the subclasses actually impact how you play the game. Someone like Ubisoft would charge 30$ for it. This was free.

The Linux port was a hobby project from one developer who wanted to play on his steam deck, and after they saw the potential they dedicated a full team to it, just because.
I don’t know what else is Community support.
I also don't know why one company doing this one time deserves more praise than the company doing it once every 3 months.
I’m not saying Hello games didn’t deserve it, just saying that Larian also did. I did not make the choice, but it’s not like it’s a bullshit decision.
Actually new spells or did they just unlock existing spells for subclasses? I haven't played patch 8
New spells
Neat. Anything cool?
Making your game function isn't some virtuous deed. it's to be expected.
They rewrote the whole game for a native Linux build. It functioned fine before but now it runs even better.
Warframe not even being nominated makes this awards pretty bs. The games been out for 15 years and is still get top tier content coming out regularly and the devs live stream to 30k viewers every week addressing concern, doing Q&A, and just showing off the game. It should have been NMS I’m confused why BG3 was in this category but I’m happy for them

I invite the other great games of 2025 to join us at camp to celebrate an amazing year!
[deleted]
If this year was mediocre then what year wasn't lol
Interesting to see them win this after continuously ignoring people requesting Wyll to be given the proper amount of content
Or even just have his bugged dialogue fixed
That was some very deep competition too. Impressive.
Is it about Dev supporting Community? Or Community supporting Dev?
Helldivers sub in shambles
Those folks were advocating for it...for a game where the dev break ghe game every 3 months and need an apolology letter and a 60-days fix plan everytime
The amount of time they nerfed fun stuff just because

There are still crazy bugs that brick high end machines, misaligned scopes for a shooter, Enemy targeting the host more than the other players, Dot inconsistent, enemies shooting beyod cover.
Very good but could be truly great
I like the game and I still play it occasionnaly.
I would still give this to NMS every year, but it's not like it's undeserved for Larian either
Meanwhile Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won basically everything
Honestly asking, what does community support mean? Like mods and content creation?
What does "Best Community Support" mean? A community who is supportive of the game and its success? A community who supports the game by reporting bugs or creating mods?
The other way around. It's a game developer that nourishes its community. Releasing in-game mod browser, mod tools and creating a whole ecosystem around it, all for free, is an example of nourishing the BG3 modding community.
A developer that continues to support the game & community - Larian still helps people who even have trouble with mods in the mod manager, not to mention patch 8 earlier this year.
Eh. They're doing great, don't get me wrong. But other games are definitely doing more. NMS or Helldivers should probably have gotten it
Best community <3
Well deserved!!!
Honestly
Undeserved.
Didint expect it
Three years in a row???!! That's like unheard of!
Larian breaking history records!
Let's gooo 💪💪
I screamed when they won this lol. I disagree that some people are saying they didn’t deserve this because I feel they absolutely did. Can’t wait to try their new game!!
If the game didn’t come out this year or didn’t have a major expansion, it deserves zero spot at the awards.
BS imo what was even done this year
The fact that Helldivers 2 was even nominated....
It’s honestly incredible how Larian has made the character creator feel new again on every single playthrough.
Dorito Pope?
YAYYYY
14 got some nerve thinking they had a shot
Awesome please fix lyrthindor please
I really need to finish this game
Thank you for so many customization mods, I love them
not gonna lie I wanted FFXIV to win but that's because I want better support from FFXIV. I can't deny the better support team won.
Hell yeah that is awesome
"Best community" and they didn't include Guild Wars 2 but FF14 and Fortnite, hmm
Ikr? Wow
Deserved, they've kept putting in the work since release
Anyone else feel like it shouldn’t have won? Sure last year it deserved it, but this year there really hasn’t been loads.
i mean we got 12 new subclasses with patch 8 earlier this year, almost 2 years after the game released.
For free, for a one time purchase single player game.
I don't play it but the only other real competitor up there is no man's sky from what I hear of it. Maybe helldivers I guess
It's really the category for "wow we're all still playing this aren't we".
in that case, it should be fortnite or no man's sky. fortnite has been one of the largest games in the world for nearly a decade now, and has continued to maintain relevancy through the myriad of different modes, updates, and cosmetics theyve added. no man's sky, on the other hand, has made one of the greatest video game comebacks ever, only rivaled by cyberpunk. i love bg3, but it shouldnt have won.
Fortnite and NMS were in the "continuing game" category which is mutually exclusive with this.
if theyre mutually exclusive, why were they nominated for both?
also, theyre just...not mutually exclusive. if anything, the categories compliment each other. do you think community support means supported by the community? it's the opposite. it's the developers supporting the community.
You are getting downvoted, but I agree. Sadly even more other rewards made no real sense and were disappointed. E33 is just blind sighting every other game. I expect every judge to have played E33, but not KCD2 for example.
FF14 killed itself with yawntrail, WoW got superior housing system (not decors yet, only system)
Helldivers 2 devs are trying to kill the game
Fortcancer
Only NMS is a good contender with large ship building, taking that fetish from Starscammed citizens on copium (including me)
But NMS can't beat the mod supporting of BG3 ofc
I think it was just a popular vote, could've been about which game had the best fart jokes and bg3 STILL would've won
Those votes only count for 10% of the award.
I love bg3, but no man’s sky should have gotten it
much as i love the game, "releasing updates" is not community support. releasing an unfinished product and spending the next two years trying to fix what you should've to begin with is not community support. it's one step above the sims team, lol. crazy work
What are you talking about? 😂
the words are on the screen, idk what else you want me to say. larian's done nothing unique of meaningful to warrant this award
So, was the game unfinished or not unique? 🤦
Should've been No Man's Sky imo.
you're right, i just needed the hit of catharsis. let's frolic into a field of daisies together
Three-peat let's goooo
507 hours of playtime, still love it, still haven’t finished it. I wish there was more of the Under Dark. They deserve all the awards!
Justice. Great support, no fees. Wish others did it the same way.
The folks here are dumb for thinking community support is the same as "we still play the game". Didn't they release one update since release?
They've done a number of completely free patches over the years, this year there was an update introducing 12 new subclasses which is awesome!
Better than what No Man's sky has done this year? Far far from it but it's still been nice.
Thats my point, other games have done more in half a year than balder gate did in 2 years. Its a good game, but it does not deserve this award.
okay but bg3 is a single player game with a one time payment and not a live service product.
Ah yes. Patch 8 is the only update released since release... /s
The category is “community support” not “developer support”
helldivers deserved community support, no question. Baldurs gate is good, but helldivers has become a whole new game since launch.
pffft, I'm a helldivers stan and even I know they don't deserve it. The game has been busted for many months since into the unjust came out. The ship is finally now being righted but they let technical debt accumulate so quickly and they weren't really dealing with it in a timely manner until the community exploded about it.
People are really stupid.. Like so stupid.
Maybe the other games should do better
no man's sky made one of the greatest comebacks in video game history, they cant do better 😭
BG SWEEP 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
It’s good to have self awareness
Why the heck three's Fortnite slop among those games
When they even it, sure
