Hi all. I am 37 weeks and 3 days. At home I've had some blood pressure readings 150 SBP. When I go in to the office or l&d the highest has been 138sbp.

I've seen so many horror stories about missed issues with Mom that lead to stillborns and I am now questioning if I'm just paranoid or what's going on.

I feel like garbage and get intermittent headaches but is it just because I'm so close to full term? 🤷‍♀️ It's all foreign to me since this is my first pregnancy.

I'm just so nervous that something is going to happen to me or my baby. Does anyone else feel this way? What did you do to feel better?

  • If your bp is running a little higher than normal and you think it could be your cuff, run to a local pharmacy. They usually have bp monitors in store. Walmart usually has one by the pharmacy. If it’s still reading high then go to your local hospital. Better safe than sorry.

And make sure your hospital bag is in the car.

  • You are probably totally okay. However, Gestational hypertension is blood pressure greater than or equal to 140/90. You can ask your doctor for an additional visit, or go right into L&D and ask to be seen if you are feeling off. It is always always best to trust your gut!

I had extra monitoring that led to an early (37 week) induction from a 140 bp reading. I'm so glad I went in to have those tests done for my peace of mind.

Thank you! Yeah, I've gone twice to l&d and they are always so sweet and reassuring that it's better to come and get checked. I had high blood pressures and headache Thursday into Friday morning. Went to my OBs office and saw a midwife I've never seen and she definitely played down my concerns and was like "you're fine, you know that right?" "You don't want an induction". And I just felt like shit for even coming. But idk I just want this baby to be here and healthy and this to be over. I feel as though I'm overly concerned with it at this point

I can't make the decision for you, but I think you DO want an induction if it's the safest thing and you avoid full pre-e, which is very dangerous. I think you should go back in. The problem with letting high bp go is it can progress into something dangerous. Can you go to L&D now and get their advice? Skip that midwife.

I'm 100% never seeing that midwife if I can prevent it. I am going to only check my pressure if I get a headache or feel shitty. But I'm thinking I can keep it together until Tuesday until I see my OB and then I plan to ask her about induction.

  • Not to scare you but you should definitely call your provider ASAP if you’re getting readings higher than 140 on the top (or 90 on the bottom). And ER if it reaches 160.

Yeah, they happen late at night and now I'm questioning my cuff since when I go there the highest was 138. I have a regular appointment with my actual OB on Tues and I'm going to just talk to her about what she thinks. This past week she said "do you and I both think something is lurking, yes. Do we have to do anything at this point, no."

So who knows. I guess I wait until Tuesday and see what she says then

Have they tested your urine for for pre-e? Did they put you on baby aspirin at any point?

Yes, no protein in urine so that's also reassuring
