Hey all, I thought I would post this here since I haven’t seen a story exactly like mine before and I thought this might help people or be reassuring in a way. I found out I was pregnant on December 14th. The week before that I had what I thought was my period, but it was super light (and also 4 days late - I took a test before this but it was negative. I didn’t test positive until almost a week later). On Monday I went to my gyno and he didn’t see anything in my uterus. The next morning I woke up to extremely heavy bleeding - like soaking an entire pad, and rushed to the hospital thinking I was having a miscarriage. They said it was very likely a chemical pregnancy, but took my blood to do beta testing and had me come back two days later. My betas over doubled in that 48 hour period, then doubled again two days later. At that point they found what looked like a tiny gestational sac, but said it could also be a pseudosac and that ectopic could not be ruled out until the yolk sac was spotted. I had some very expensive, already paid for travel plans that we’d booked a year in advance that I was super worried about being cancelled. The doctors told me that flying was risky, but we felt okay doing it since we have a travel insurance and the betas were all normal. Fast forward a week, we went to a clinic for a checkup in our travel destination and the first time there they only saw a sac. I was concerned because I had brown watery discharge every time I wiped and some very mild cramping and dizziness, but this was probably leftover from the large bleed a week before. Today we went back and they saw a yolk sac, essentially ruling out ectopic.
So everything is fine so far at 5.5 weeks, even though I had some ectopic symptoms and a large bleed at 4 weeks. My advice is to never google your symptoms and to just trust your doctor and do your due diligence. Keep an eye on your symptoms and take them seriously, but don’t let it drive you crazy. Bodies are kind of crazy and you never know sometimes what’s happening. I’ve seen plenty of stories on here of people also bleeding and going on to have normal pregnancies!
I hope this helps someone if they find themselves in the same worrying situation. Sometimes it also works out just fine:)
