Oh my! I’m terribly sorry this happened to the both of you, sending a big digital hug and tissues <3
My sister did a similar thing last Christmas unexpectedly, and it devastated my parents and myself. Their behavior does indeed inflict a great deal of pain.
We have the benefit of my sister living in another city, but it can no doubt become nothing next to terrorizing having to put up with such a person in the home.
It’s very understandable for your mom to be too scared to take that step with your sister. I do hope she finds the courage for her own mental peace’s sake, as well as yours, and maybe even your sister… You never know: after an endless barrage of tantrums she might just flip on a dime and say that she left you, and never wants to come back. That doesn’t make it less troubling but at least you will have some much needed space to just exist and think.
Is there perhaps an ‘affected members of family with mental illness’ service of some kind near where you live?
That sounds exhausting. Setting boundaries is so threatening to those with BPD. My adult sibling also had multiple outbursts and we played dnd and announced our first pregnancy on Christmas eve. I swear we can never just have a good time. It always has to be complicated.
I definitely had to take some time to recharge and focus on myself and my happiness. I hope you can do the same. ❤️
Can't say this enough.. It's not you! You're dealing with a person with mental illness!
Unfortunately since they can't comprehend that they need help they will destroy the world instead.
