Hi to anyone who has installed a kill switch in there car. If you have a warranty do you happen to know if the kill switch will void the warranty? Also have you had any problems with the kill switch?

  • Yes and no. Though technically an immobilizer/kill switch doesn’t necessarily void the entire warranty, if you do happen to have any electrical issues down the road after you have installed the kill switch; a dealer could deny warranty coverage for that specific part failure if they believe it somehow relates to the aftermarket equipment installed.

    • you might even get an insurance discount by equipping your vehicle with an anti-theft device! Probably like $1.14 a month less but it’s something!
  • On a car that’s new enough to be under warranty… just don’t. You’re going to mess up more trying to install a kill switch than any benefit you’d get out of it. Just get comprehensive insurance.

  • I don't see why it would void warranty, the only thing I could think of is a no start condition where the system the Killswitch is interfering with is responsible, but that's unlikely.

I have them on all my classics. Do a good job installing them and they work great

He explained it pretty clearly and accurately. IF they bring in the vehicle for warranty work on something mechanical, the warranty work would probably go through. However, if the vehicle is brought in for something electrical related, and the dealer finds that the kill switch somehow caused it, they could potentially deny the warranty work.
