Dat citaat van Jefferson ging wel degelijk over prive banken die hun eigen munt uitgaven hé. In zo'n situatie verkeren we vooralsnog niet. Maar ik deel wel je skepticisme mbt fiat munten.

Population growth. Rise of housing where there is only one inhabitant (grandma living in the family house despite being a widow) & also inflation.
Single-member households are skyrocketing in Brussels, both because of this and because of personal preferences of younger people.
