it has happened to my family and you can search online it happens to a lot of ppl too. the thing is that the capacity of people’s defense system to cat allergen varies, which means some people might be allergic at the very beginning, some might catch it 2 years later, some 5 years, etc, and that’s exactly what happened to my family so we had to give the cat away unfortunately. some people might be permanently immune to it, or long enough to outlive the cat, hope ur the lucky one.

My is intolerant with anything that touches his belly, my hands remember.
