Yeah, that's strange, particularly given that jungle cats are menace to birds and poultry, and people generally treat them as pests. But the role of sanctuary is to conserve, and predator-prey dynamics are naturally occurring phenomena, with birds having their own survival tactics to deal with predation. Parhaps, that's why they are allowed.
The sanctuary is also home to blue bulls, jackals, wolves, mongoose, etc. Wildlife photographers also documented jungle cats to prey on cobra in the sanctuary.
And, in this case, jungle cats are also native wildlife that needs protection. They are threatened by feral/outdoor domestic cats, an invasive species that causes genetic contamination as well as the spread of diseases and parasites such as feline leukemia or toxoplasma.

Ok, but what kind of badass-sounding name is Axis axis?!
Dangerous species from 1939. Highly invasive. Kill on sight.
Right! Of course! Important to remember they can spawn anywhere.
The same look that my house cat has in his eyes when he gets hold off the fluffy pom-pom that's attached to the corners of the sofa blanket.

Is having cats in a bird sanctuary a good idea?
