It's piss smells like weed I wish I was kidding this has actually caused problems at zoos where people complained about weed smoking but it was just the wolf piss (can confirm, I have smelled them)
And the tree has a fruit called lobeira, named after the false wolf. It can also be consumed by humans and has several benefits, in moderation of course!
I find it interesting that throughout it’s evolutionary process it worked out best for them to have long legs in a grassland climate when a lot of predators tend to have more “proportional” legs to use the grass to their advantage.
This isn't that out of proportion when you compare them to other grassland animals like antelope. Maned wolves aren't ambush predators, they are opportunistic foragers and plants and fruits can make up more than 50% of their diet. When they do hunt, they pounce from above on small prey like a fox.
Here in Argentina it's called Aguará Guazú (ah-wah-RAH wah-SOO). It is its indigenous name. They are threatened sadly and very shy, very beautiful creatures. I've only ever seen one in a zoo as a kid.
What the.. that looks like my lil sister drew it

This is amazing lore
This happens a lot at woodland park zoo in Seattle, which also has legalized marijuana so it gets extra confusing.
A zoo I went to had a sign near the enclosure but it was all about "we know it smells like a skunk, it's not a skunk". It was a different time though
Its a fox with horse's legs
Or a horse with fox’s head
I love maned wolves! They manage to be both creepy and absolutely adorable 😂
Other wolves probably whistle when they see another wolf in high heels...
“They tried to put me on the cover of Vogue…”
"...but my legs were too long."

I was literally thinking about the Deerfox from the show Hilda.
Yesss, I know it made me think of something. Now I want to rewatch Hilda, so excellent that adorable show
Fun fact: It’s urine smells like weed !!
I believe there are even signs at the San Diego Zoo alerting visitors as to where that smell comes from so folks wouldn’t bother alerted security.
Snitches get stitches....
What kinda narcs take it upon themselves to report suspected weed smokers to a zoos security team?
“If you’re going to get high, kindly do us a favor and keep it in the vicinity of the maned wild exhibit.”
We call him Lobo Guará, they're very beautiful and some areas they pay us a visit now and then!

You can be a different species while still being a type of wolf. There are different species of wolf.
this animal isn’t a wolf though, the name is just misleading
Stilt-fox.
They're so leggy. Are they the leggiest canid?
They've gotta be. Any taller and they'd just tip over.
Yes they are the leggiest! Tallest wild Canine at least, there are a few huge dog breeds that take the lead

That's one heck of a fursuit, Steve.
That's obviously a skin walker. Nice try though.
Canine response to a serval cat?
Hah! Nice comparison
Some scientist out there be like: "It looks like a wolf, but its closest relative is the Scottish duck!"
They're also addicted to fruit!
I love that about them, having a balanced diet of fruit and small rodents.
“It a deer fox with a stubble. I will name it “the maned wolf!”

Do our long legs help us walk easily through tall grass ? I don’t think so
