Welcome to China

  • So good to be considered among Everyboss.

  • I like when Tina sings, but I also like when she’s all business. I guess what I’m trying to say is I really like Tina.

  • All those engines are coming from swaps to electric motors. In China nowadays, 90% of all vehicles bodies, old and new, are electric powered. Tina’s business have already made their money, completing the swap. They’re simply trying to get more money by offering those petrol engines to potential overseas markets. And Tina being the marketing superstar that she is, they might just hit it big. I wish them all the best. Especially Tina, of course

90%? Lol. 59% of car sales in September were full electric or hybrid. Even in China, ICE conversions are a tiny % of old vehicles, because so much labor is involved, and conversion kits aren't in mass production. 5 years hence when mass production of solid state batteries are in full swing (and cost & packaging size should be significantly reduced), that will change. Vast majority of cars on the road are still full ICE.

Even in Norway, which is way ahead of anywhere else, 56% of cars on the road as of Feb '25 were full ICE.

You’re probably fully documented with numbers from google or whatnot, so you’re entitled to disclose that as your opinion piece. However I’m just back from a trip to China, 5 different cities, from sub million inhabitants in remote corner, to 10+ million as province capital, and what I have observed is consistent with the 90% mark. Almost all vehicles are now electric powered, full stop. From the old “original rusty body tricycle ute tuk-tuk” whatever you want to call it, that they have used over there since they were a third world country, to carry their shit from the fields, and their mobile street food shops, to 20yo Toyota Hiaces vans, to 10yo VW sedans taxis that were sold as ICE cars, they are ALL converted to electric now (not even mentioning the scooters, where the number is closer to 99.5%) Oddly enough, the only ICE cars remaining on the road are the luxury European cars such as Mercedes AMG and the likes, and a few Japanese V8 luxury SUVs. So I’m not gonna argue whether they do in fact, or in theory, have or don’t have the “mass conversion technology” or the “means and costs” to do it or whatever you mentioned, I was just reporting what I saw, and enquired about, while I was there last week, for my first visit to that country. As it was an eye opener for me, I thought I’d share, as I know a few people were wondering how did Tina get hold of so many complete engines 😅 as well as a few unrelated posts about “how come China has successfully curbed their major cities air quality problems in a matter of years, when western cities are still suffocating and implementing “alternate traffic” measures and the likes (I’m from Paris, so I know all about those 😬)

They're the official numbers from the Chinese auto sales overseer, you moron.
