Hi all!
So I had a slightly bad thing happen the other night with my 2024 Ford Maverick AWD XLT. There was a lot of traffic and I got distracted for a split second and didn't quite brake in time and bumped the car in front of me. My anti collision brake kicked in but i slid a bit due to cold and a small patch of ice. I was only doing maybe 10 kmh/6 mph. The other car had no visible damage aside from a small mark in the back bumper where my license plate bolt hit it. On initial inspection, my truck looked fine, aside from the small crack in my front bumper where my license plate sits, but it was also dark out. We decided it wasn't worth making a claim and didn't exchange info.
The next day I noticed my hood and the side panels are slightly deformed, more so on the passenger side. There's about a half inch gap between where the hood and the side panel meet on the passenger side whereas before it was only a quarter inch or so, and the side panel seems a bit loose where it meets the headlight, but still solidly attached. I've had no engine issues or warning lights go off, and my anti collision brake sensors still work, but I'm freaked out that this might get worse with time, and it was technically my fault and made it worse by not exchanging info. Do I need to be concerned? I feel like an idiot for this. Any feedback would be great, and if pics are needed, I can attach them.
That is not the aftermath of a 6mph impact 😂
Lol it didn't feel like I was going very fast, the bump itself was small, and the damage on the other guys SUV was next to nothing, just a small mark on his bumper from the bolt on my licence plate. Maybe Mavericks just aren't built as well as a Nissan. 😝 (I had a Nissan before and those things are built like bricks)
I wouldn't be surprised if you have $3k in damages.
I figured probably about $3k. I'm going to go to a collision repair place and get an estimate and just suck it up and get it fixed.
What state are you in?
I'm in Ontario, Canada.
