• Glorious! Thanks for sharing

  • Love the quality photos, thank you for sharing!

  • The top eyes look more widely spaced than I was aware of huntsmans being. Great that the colours are so light to make them easily visible!

  • Any idea how long a huntsman can live for?

Huntsmen will live anywhere from 1-3 years on average, with males usually being on the shorter end.

    Thanks!

Are they nomadic or would they generally hang in the same spot for a long while?

Huntsmen won't construct retreats besides a few species, but they aren't particularly nomadic either, usually selecting a hiding spot and generally sticking to it where needed, although they are easily able to find alternative hiding places when their preferred one is inaccessible for whatever reason.

I have observed a related species to the one above scratching at the trunk of tree and actively searching for their hiding place when they returned to it after it was removed, so they seem to have a memory of their favourite hiding places and may prefer using them over an alternative.

    Thanks for responding.

I’m not going to lie, I haven’t made any friends with spiders but I have found this page really useful for me as I am trying to conquer my fear.

Where I live we mostly have huntsman, wolf spiders and the occasional red back.

  • Lots of moulting photos and videos at the moment. Do they pick their timing based on the weather?

  • Absolutely stunning. Would love to see one in person 🥰
