• Lovers of cold weather will have our moment of glory Sunday into Monday with a brief passing low bringing chilly temps into our area for a very short time. Zero chance of any wintery precipitation.

By next Thursday we could see daytime highs in the upper 60s if not low 70s. Ridging and above normal temps are in our foreseeable future. Global oceanic trends are not looking good for substantial change into early January, and the MJO shows us staying in phase 7 (southeast ridging) for the next 7-10 days at least. It will likely be dry for the same 7-10 day spread.

So this means we’re on tract for a normal mild weathered december and january?

More than likely, as model data looks now it will be a typical La Nina winter which, for Athens, is warmer than usal temps with dryer than usual conditions. Not to say something entirely unexpected (and very climate changey) doesn't happen... but I wouldn't hedge my bets on it

  • Ughhhhh, stoked ab the few colder days we are getting, but I am upset ab warmer temps. Thank you for reporting this
