The monster polor vortex that was signalled a couple days ago isn't looking to pan out on more recent runs. It will still impact the NE but won't come down south far enough to give us truly bitter cold. Zero chance of precip with this (for Athens anyway).
It will be cold though with even this look with highs Thursday in the low 40s and high 30s.. but not much colder than what we have now.
As the 500mb geopotential height map shows, we absolutely torch after the cold front on Thursday. High temps Saturday could be in the upper 50s if not low 60s.
goofus (GFS) started trending back to a colder solution but given our la nina enso pattern I'm betting on an overall warmer outcome than expected for us here in Athens. It was nice to get my hopes up for a few days though!
Not seeing support for that on the GFS 500mb height anomoly... Euro has a drive by low that would be short lived if it even verified. CMC is sniffing at that drive by low but, all three models show pretty decent ridging in the southeast in the coming 7-10 days

2 weeks out does not look favorable in the models, signs are pointing towards Torchmas and hot dogs on the grill
