SWGA is dry as a bone. This week’s rain gave them about 1.5 much needed inches of precipitation. Every drain, creek, slough, pond and sink I visited was completely dry last week. The freshwater springs are flowing, but the volume is much less than usual. I haven’t seen it this dry in nearly 20 years, and it was the mid-late 1980s before then when it was equally dry. I’m concerned about wildfires again and so are the farmers. I saw many fresh firebreaks being cut to protect timber tracts.
We as in greater Athens area. Although the 12z NAM3k says we'll be lucky to see even a half inch of rain fall. The HRRR looks worse (less rain for Athens).
Much needed rainfall returns to the area this evening spreading northward through tonight. Periods of rainfall are expected to continue through the weekend. Forecast rainfall will range from less than 1 inch across North Georgia and totals 1 to 3 inches across Central Georgia, particularly south of Interstate 20. Persistent cloud cover and ongoing rainfall will keep temperatures cool through the weekend.

Not a whole lot to talk about in the forecast for Athens - more seasonably cool temperatures with lows dipping well into the 20s towards the weekend.
Rain is needed esp for south and mid Georgia, unfortunately not much is projected over the next 7-10 days (including Athens).
When you say “we” do you just mean south GA? Bc we here in the Athens area should be getting a good amount of rain right?

Glenn Burns is saying we’ll get rain:
