'll start by saying I'm sorry if my English is terrible, it's not my native language!!, but basically I totally fell for a dog with 4 years and 4 months in the web page, so I just went to see him today in the animal shelter for adoption w my family, but when we got there the The staff told us the dog has leishmaniasis although he has a low level of it and he don't need to get vaccinated every week like any other dog, he just has to take medicine every day.

And my stepfather used to have a dog that died from that, so we were all stressed out overthinking about that... then we went for a walk with the dog, and he is the sweetest boy :((

He weighs approximately 30 kilos (66 pounds) and is medium to big dog.

But basically, the problem we have is that we're afraid the dog's condition might worsen or that we might catch the disease from the mosquito (since where I live this disease is very common in dogs and there are many sand flies, especially in summer). I really want to give the dog a good life, but we haven't stopped going over the issue. I would be very grateful if y'all, as professionals, could help me :(

thanks in advance!!!
