  • Like the other guy said be honest

I've done that b4 and let's js say, it didn't go well

  • "Hey, I just wanted to say: _____, have a good day"

you see, the blank is my main issue ;-; but thx for the advice

What are you trying to say though 😭

That's the problem, wtv I think of saying is way too much or js corny af. Usually I wanna say smt that'd make them feel special like making them know they're good at smt they like or telling them they look good.

  • Explain these ā€œpast experiencesā€

Do you know what you ā€œdid wrongā€ in them?

If I say smt such as ā€œyour fit looks fireā€ they js look at me w/ disgust :( Only one example btw and no, idk what I’m doing wrong cuz I’m dumb

What, exactly, do you mean by "look at you with disgust" ?

I really do not want to dismiss your anxiety, because I get it - so does every human ever - but I have a strong suspicion you might be over thinking how people are reacting.

"look at me with disgust" kind of like an "ugh, ok wtv" kinda like that

So, are they saying anything to you? Or is it just the weird look?

What about your face, what do you look like when you compliment someone? What if they think you are looking at them with disgust...

Unless someone explicitly tells you that they did not like how you complimented them/tried to compliment them, you shouldn't really worry about it. As much as facial expressions are, well, expressive... they shouldn't be used as a form of communication - especially not by teenagers, who over think everything.

  • Do indirect compliments

    Examples?

I’m guessing some of these crushes could be in ur skl/class, so complimenting intelligence or skills is always great, I think a lot of girls value being called smart. U could just ask for help on a number or whatever and take it from there. For appearance, definitely more subtle, but try to notice the little things ig? If she tries out a new hairstyle or necklace, u don’t have to compliment them, but noticing and saying smth about it is pretty good already. Shows the girl u pay attention, and on that note, if u guys have conversations often, remembering stuff like ex: ā€œu said u had a volleyball game right? How did it go?ā€ It’s a big green flag when someone’s invested in convos and whatnot. But honestly, other than that, anything except directly telling her she’s pretty, or even worse anything remotely sexual, would probably work much more better in ur favor

I see... thnx for the advice!

  • "Wow, You have such a cool eye color" that would probably get me, ngl. Kinda the only compliment I actually kinda like 😐 or like if they have a cool hair cut you can always say something like "I really like how your hair is made."

Hmm kk, thnx for the advice

  • what type of compliments do you usually give?

mostly abt their fit and things they're good at

if you unintentionally word it in a creepy way then that's probably why you could be getting negative reactions, but i honestly doubt that since that's hard to do

you could start off with something basic but nice, as an example maybe "That jacket looks great on you!"

ultimately do keep in mind that if you're actually trying to be nice and they keep being negative towards you, they simply likely aren't worth talking to

    aight then, thnx

  • complimenting outfits and hair is the best option. it can feel weird to get complimented on your body, but you choose your hair and clothes. i'd say i would enjoy a compliment the most if someone said "hey, just wanted to say i love your fit :)" and then doesn't expect anything else
