Is it binary that we either communist revolution or we’re doing nothing; do you see workers striking in capitalism and judge them for not doing a violent overthrow every time? I think there’s a spectrum as small incremental local action can be impactful. Some claim that’s short sided and counterrevolutionary, but we’re nowhere close to having a viable vanguard party so I don’t know what the alternative is. For the people doing organizing it’s important to celebrate the small steps of progress even if it just marginally improves our conditions now.

ACP's entire strategy is dependent upon building an independent political organization to withstand the impending collapse of the state, it's very much not purely making economic demands and relying on a trade union consciousness alone.

Modern liberal Western states are far more protected from popular revolution than Tsarist Russia was. Conditions aren't great but are generally better, power is spread over a larger oligarchy, democratic elections and the facade of meritocracy make many people feel like this is just how things naturally are. Things have to get significantly worse before social conditions approach that of early 20th century Russia.

I don't see the point of idolising past leftists. They were still people and acted like it. Many of us live in comparative luxury to them, of course, but saying that past generations of leftists were more willing to be heroic and somehow better at being leftists sounds a bit ridiculous to me.
Regardless, today's system isn't an unstable monarchy that still employs serfs. I would dare to say that most modern states woth a certain amount of wealth are harder to reform or overthrow in a revolution than imperial Russia, a system of government that was even outdated compared to other monarchies of the time.
I would also say that most leftists didn't do shit either until shit hit the fan at the time. Like today , only a few actively worked to overthrow a system of government or insight improvement in workers' rights. Whilst I don't have statistics to back this up, I think it is reasonable to assume that most leftists at the time didn't do more than read and discuss until the revolution actually happened. They were still just people after all, like we most of them were prolly more concerned with paying rent than anything else.

We just don't really care about the communists in Ethiopia fighting the government for some reason. Or the kurdish and Palestinian leftists giving their lives for their beliefs .

Modern liberal Western states are far more protected from popular revolution than Tsarist Russia was. Conditions aren't great but are generally better, power is spread over a larger oligarchy, democratic elections and the facade of meritocracy make many people feel like this is just how things naturally are. Things have to get significantly worse before social conditions approach that of early 20th century Russia.

If you break from the Democrats they smear you as "fascist" or consider you "right-wing coded", which is absurd. Which is how I know it's insane to defend a monarchy that had literal serfdom over the people who abolished the serfdom, industrialised the country and introduced women's rights and basically human rights to every category of people to it. I don't see the point of idolising past leftists. They were still people and acted like it. Many of us live in comparative luxury to them, of course, but saying that past generations of leftists were more willing to be heroic and somehow better at being leftists sounds a bit ridiculous to me.
Regardless, today's system isn't an unstable monarchy that still employs serfs. I would dare to say that most modern states woth a certain amount of wealth are harder to reform or overthrow in a revolution than imperial Russia, a system of government that was even outdated compared to other monarchies of the time.
I would also say that most leftists didn't do shit either until shit hit the fan at the time. Like today , only a few actively worked to overthrow a system of government or insight improvement in workers' rights. Whilst I don't have statistics to back this up, I think it is reasonable to assume that most leftists at the time didn't do more than read and discuss until the revolution actually happened. They were still just people after all, like we most of them were prolly more concerned with paying rent than anything else.
Because they actually won. If today's Western leftoids were around during the Bolsheviks, they would have denounced Stalin and Lenin as bigots or something before they ever succeeded.
