The US and British initially didn't support the state of Israel as they didn't want to pick a side between Israel and Palestine. Most of the munitions that Israel used in the war came from Czechoslovakia, another socialist state. David Ben-Gurion later famously said: "Czechoslovak arms saved the State of Israel, really and absolutely."

At the start of the Cold War, while the USSR and the USA had disagreements on my political issues, they both agreed to create a two state solution for Israel/Palestine. So did much of the rest of the world. Israel has blocked all efforts for over 50 years. Progressive nations look to the future. Such efforts are how South ended its Black/White apartheid state. Israelis are stuck in the past with a colonial mindset.
The other abrahamic religions are not participating in Genocide. Zionists as much as they want to cannot be allowed to speak for the jewish people. Many jews have both opposed Israel and the genocide.

Well, part materialist philosophy is a skepticism towards the idea of meaningful, immaterial differences between people; the differences between racial, ethnic, religious, or gendered groups are not real inequalities in the innate value of one group, relative to another group. If there isn’t any such thing as natural inferiority then any intergroup inequality that exists must be an artificial product of some political-economic process. Communists believe that all inequality can and should be eliminated through the reshaping of dominant political and economic systems. A natural outcome of this is an opposition to racist imperialism, and to colonialism, as systems which create artificial hierarchies between people, which are degrading, which are violent, and which are generally harmful. Finally, communists are able to look at Israel and conclude that it is a colonial project. This is why most communists oppose Israel.
Communists should support all legitimate liberation struggles. Israel is the lynchpin of American imperialism. And there are more specific reasons with narrower, strategic purpose. Free Palestine!
Historically, they haven't always done so. The USSR supported Israel through the 1940s and 1950s. Much of this was rooted in opposition to fascism (a Jewish state being a massive thumb in the eye of the Nazis) but the main driver was faith in kibbutzim to be a successful model of socialism. This changed dramatically after the 1967 war, in which Israel took territory from Egypt, which was an ally of the USSR at the time. Tensions between Israel and Syria prior to this had already strained the relationship to the breaking point.
Palestine gets support today in part because, as others have pointed out, oppression against Palestinians is oppression against everyone. It's also not unexpected given the massive support Israel gets from Western governments.
As a leftist in general we condemn ethnic warfare and colonialism, the worst failures of left wing movements is when they became vessels for ethnic warfare usually through nationalism. Israel is an example of a nationalist country founded on and engaging in colonialism that promotes ethnic warfare. They also teach religious justifications that educated leftists know are false such as them being descended from the ancient Hebrews when there is no physical evidence of this.
Choosing not to support Palestine is the same as choosing to support ethnic supremacy, racism and colonialism in modern times. It does not matter how we feel and what we think about their religion and culture if we ever want to live and make possible a world without ethnic warfare and strife then there is only one side you can be on and that is opposing nationalism, colonialism and religious extremism.
Another way to ask it would be "why do so many nations that have experienced western colonialism and oppression support a nation currently experiencing it?"
Ussr and socialists liked the Kibbutz that worked pretty much as co ops and shit, developed strong solidarity, up until Israel started pushing segregationist laws that didnt allow non jews(not just muslims, but christians too) to not work or live. Cause it gets compicated real quick when the state tells you to kick the guy youve been living and working with for months, years and your kids growing up alongside their kids. As for now, its just basically its the subject of an apartheid state, so its back to fighting replacement of slavery. There is no advancement of the people with this type of structure in place and it is a black mark of history that kind of gets multiply by the fact thats still going on in the 21st century and its being filmed in 4k.

I would say its because communists are made well aware of how imperialism looks, where it stems from, what drives it, and can see that Israel itself was created as a permanent colony project of western imperialism that was initially started by England but has since been taken over by the US.
It doesn't get mentioned very often, but the third-largest Palestinian Political Party (after Fatah and Hamas) is the Marxist-Leninist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Although I suspect that over the years, they have become mostly just that in name only.
Because the practical rela way capitalism continues to reproduce itself in modern times is via American imperialism. The most important outpost of American imperialism is Israel, it is the enforcer that keeps the middle east countries too scared and subservient to the US ruling class.
I'm not a communist (more of a demsoc) but it seems obvious to me--communists are supposed to be anti-imperialist and support the downtrodden and oppressed.
The real question you should be asking is why capitalists support Is-not-real. The answer, I think you'll find, is money and power.
Nobody wants to say this, but it's objectively true. Hamas has repeatedly been an advocate for peace, time and time again. They have been patient, charitable, and incredibly hospitable. Both Hamas and the former Palestinian government have extended open hands and peace signs, and Israel has repeatedly broken deals, treaties, ceasefires, etc. regardless of whether or not they profited from each negotiation.
Look up their history, even just the Wikipedia pages. It's always been a one-sided extinction event.
Israel is a tool for Western powers to destabilize the middle east. It's never been anything else. Zionism has always been insane blood and soil nonsense. Israel needs a major regime change, pronto.

That is one of the correct answers. There was a (short) time, when Israel had quite good relations with the Soviet Union. But even then, it was all about proxies. Israel was weakening Britain and had a strong socialist movement.
People are more than just their leaders? If questionable actions (empahsis on questionable) and association by people's leaders and their elected officials palling around with other questionable people is the basis for their complete annihilation of the people and taking of their land, then no country or people deserves to live,a nd any violence inflicted upon innocent people is justified.

If Israel because a communist outpost in the Middle East (as was originally intended by the likes of Stalin) and the Arabs remained under western-aligned monarchies and puppet regimes, the communist world would’ve wholeheartedly supported the Israelis.
Look into what Marx actually wrote about race relations and colonialism. Identity politics have no place in communism, and the people who view every conflict through some racial “evil white colonizer vs wholesome oppressed brown natives” are brainrotted terminally online weirdos.
The real reason is the U.S. supports Israel. It was a proxy war during the Cold War but now it’s just an attempt to waste western money on killing people, and it’s working.
It isn’t about communists supporting Palestinians, it was about the Soviet Union and China being oppositional to the US. This forces resources to be applied in places other than defense, or more importantly other than offensive weaponry against themselves.

Look back at the Algerian struggle for independence. The USSR rejected it, and the French Communist Party followed suit. French communists who were found organising solidarity for Algeria were kicked out of the party. Because the Moscow line was: France under De Gaulle was a counterweight to USA. But if France loses Algeria, it will be weaker, and opposition to USA will be weaker. Ergo: throw Algerians under the bus because the Laws of History say so.
Trotskyists were the few communists to go there and man weapons factories, etc, to fight the French out.
Putin may be evil but is not stupid. He knows that Israel is the front line defense/and intelligence for anyone wishing to harm the west/and/or EU. Russia is not thrilled with Palestine but he surely prefers it to a powerhouse like Israel that would fight back if he attacked and heading towards Europe or North America for a takeover.
He knows Hamas would never lift a finger. Keep in mind, October 7th is Putin's birthday. That is not a coincidence. It was a "gift" for all the support from Russia (and there's been a great deal). Nobody is saying that we want to emulate palestines government. But we must stand against genocide, fascism, and oppression the world over.
Well, part materialist philosophy is a skepticism towards the idea of meaningful, immaterial differences between people; the differences between racial, ethnic, religious, or gendered groups are not real inequalities in the innate value of one group, relative to another group. If there isn’t any such thing as natural inferiority then any intergroup inequality that exists must be an artificial product of some political-economic process. Communists believe that all inequality can and should be eliminated through the reshaping of dominant political and economic systems. A natural outcome of this is an opposition to racist imperialism, and to colonialism, as systems which create artificial hierarchies between people, which are degrading, which are violent, and which are generally harmful. Finally, communists are able to look at Israel and conclude that it is a colonial project. This is why most communists oppose Israel.

Historically, they haven't always done so. The USSR supported Israel through the 1940s and 1950s. Much of this was rooted in opposition to fascism (a Jewish state being a massive thumb in the eye of the Nazis) but the main driver was faith in kibbutzim to be a successful model of socialism. This changed dramatically after the 1967 war, in which Israel took territory from Egypt, which was an ally of the USSR at the time. Tensions between Israel and Syria prior to this had already strained the relationship to the breaking point.
Palestine gets support today in part because, as others have pointed out, oppression against Palestinians is oppression against everyone. It's also not unexpected given the massive support Israel gets from Western governments.
As a leftist in general we condemn ethnic warfare and colonialism, the worst failures of left wing movements is when they became vessels for ethnic warfare usually through nationalism. Israel is an example of a nationalist country founded on and engaging in colonialism that promotes ethnic warfare. They also teach religious justifications that educated leftists know are false such as them being descended from the ancient Hebrews when there is no physical evidence of this.
Choosing not to support Palestine is the same as choosing to support ethnic supremacy, racism and colonialism in modern times. It does not matter how we feel and what we think about their religion and culture if we ever want to live and make possible a world without ethnic warfare and strife then there is only one side you can be on and that is opposing nationalism, colonialism and religious extremism.

It's not just communists. The entire world condemns the violence being perpetrated against them.
This is not hate for the Jewish people. This is condemnation of violence, of hate, of genocide, that drives that support.
The same things that drove support for the Jewish people for the last 80+ years is what drives support for the Palestinian people today.
It doesn't get mentioned very often, but the third-largest Palestinian Political Party (after Fatah and Hamas) is the Marxist-Leninist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Although I suspect that over the years, they have become mostly just that in name only.

Nobody wants to say this, but it's objectively true. Hamas has repeatedly been an advocate for peace, time and time again. They have been patient, charitable, and incredibly hospitable. Both Hamas and the former Palestinian government have extended open hands and peace signs, and Israel has repeatedly broken deals, treaties, ceasefires, etc. regardless of whether or not they profited from each negotiation.
Look up their history, even just the Wikipedia pages. It's always been a one-sided extinction event.

That is one of the correct answers. There was a (short) time, when Israel had quite good relations with the Soviet Union. But even then, it was all about proxies. Israel was weakening Britain and had a strong socialist movement.

If questionable actions (empahsis on questionable) and association by people's leaders and their elected officials palling around with other questionable people is the basis for their complete annihilation of the people and taking of their land, then no country or people deserves to live,a nd any violence inflicted upon innocent people is justified.

Because the Soviet Union set the script. During the Cold War, Moscow branded Israel as a U.S. imperial outpost and promoted “Palestine” as an anti-Western cause. Originally the USSR was supportive of Israel as it viewed it as a potential socialist ally.

Disregard all the performative outrage and anti colonialism. The socialist world supported the Arabs because they had broadly socialist aligned governments, and the Israelis pivoted decidedly towards the capitalist west. That’s it.
If Israel because a communist outpost in the Middle East (as was originally intended by the likes of Stalin) and the Arabs remained under western-aligned monarchies and puppet regimes, the communist world would’ve wholeheartedly supported the Israelis.
