"If you buy our product, you get sexy chicks" is about the oldest trick in the marketing book.
That tactic works primarily on men though. For straight-women-centric advertising, you have to be much more nuanced. To wit: "If you buy our product, you'll be a sexy chick."
I think there were even studies that showed that it was not, in fact, as effective as non-sexual ads on men (and of course even less women). But I don't have the numbers on me to be honest
Heteronormitive sure, but I think this is just saying "Use our product and you'll get to be on vacation more, instead of working" which isn't THAT radical of an advertising pitch.
A similar ad for women wouldn't have a man standing in the perfect center of the image. This exact ad without the woman would also convey the exact same meaning, if that's all there was to it. Remember someone shot this picture and intentionally posed her exactly where she is.
Can anyone please explain to me what exactly is wrong with this?
Like, I imagine the implication is that this is a very heteronormative alternative, with the woman as a price; and while it can, obviously, be read as such, and it’s somewhat likely that this reading was the advertiser’s intention… those are the assumptions that we as the viewers bring to the table, and the ad works perfectly fine without them.
For example, imagine the person on the right laying on the sunbed is a lesbian woman. Or a heterosexual one, for that matter. Or he is a man, but the woman standing in front of him is his daughter. Or a sister. Or he’s a gay man and that woman is his lesbian sister. Or whatever else.
I literally cannot put a non-heteronormative spin on it that would invalidate the message here; so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the ad.
But I could be missing something, so please do explain what is it, if you can see something being wrong or inappropriate.
u/vashchylau, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...
"If you buy our product, you get sexy chicks" is about the oldest trick in the marketing book. I don't think it quite fits the sub though.

Could be more "you have free time to go on vacation". Ironic that the ad is that hard to parse.
buy our product and people will stand in the way?
Nothing says dev tool like random beach lifestyle bait.

I'm almost positive those images are AI. Unless the dude has a really goofy custom keyboard that is intentionally missing some standard keys, lol.
And none of would affect the point at all. Someone prompted the AI to intentionally feature the woman exactly where she is.
What flavor is the orange drink
Blue
My school canteen sold...i cant remember, something, it was peak though, and one of the flavours was "blue"
Pardon me for looking, but doesn't that swimsuit have the trans flag colors?
MOVE OUT OF THE WAY

Only problem I see is that the girl looks about 12 years old
You’re the only one sexualizing here 😂🙏 there’s a person in a swimsuit, in an appropriate setting
