• As a trans guy, I HATE the small dick energy thing. Like, having a small dick is bad apparently so what am I?

'Unwashed ass energy' is what I use. Usually accurate too.

"Unwashed ass energy" is brutal. I like it.

Oh fuck I love that. "Unwashed ass energy" from now on. (Not that I used the other one to begin with, tbf.)

I agree because washing your ass is something you can control. Having a small dick is not a reflection of who you are as a person

  • Let's call it unwashed ass energy from now on

  • The only thing wrong with this is the word “females”

Anyway, progressive men also engage in male body shaming. Everyone does because it’s considered acceptable for some reason.

I've made it a point to never talk about anybody's features in a negative light. I realized some time ago that if I make fun of someone's features then I making fun of everyone that has that feature. Like yeah I get why saying man has a small dick makes you feel good on the moment but there is no way small penis = shitty personality and I'm sure there are plenty little penis men that are not insecure in their masculinity.

Thank you. I was always under the impression this was the main reason to be against body shaming in the first place! People, especially growing up, see negative messages about people’s features and internalize them. They cause harm, not just to your intended target.

Based on this thread, I’m glad things seem to be changing

It's called punching up and it doesn't actually harm anyone. No male is harmed by being told they have a small penis or are short.

Tbh I've never heard a progressive guy actually body shame another man unironically. It's always been a joke amongst friends situation. Even amongst progressive women, I've never heard one actually body shame a guy, only say things as an inside joke, or even reciprocal flirting.

In a progressive circle actually body shaming someone isn't acceptable. And it would be encouraged to speak up about it and make sure the jokes are consensual.

Tbh I've never heard a progressive guy actually body shame another man unironically.

To mention an example I've seen repeatedly in this very subreddit: I've read multiple times people make fun of Tate's facial structure and of some photos that were, er, unflattering about his groin area.

I've not done it myself, but I'm honestly unsure about whether it's problematic or not (either way, I'm not concerned enough about it to criticize who does that, while I would do so if people made fun of a random man's body)

On one hand, generally speaking encouraging body shaming is not good; but on the other, not only it's pretty much physically impossible for me to feel bad for that asshole but he likes to put himself forwards as some sort of paragon of "traditional" manliness (for some ludicrously restrictive and thoroughly stupid definition of 'manliness'), and so the fact that his looks do not really match that ideal anyway is kind of funny.

Maybe I'm just in healthier circles but I've never heard a critique of his face, and I don't know what's actually wrong with it either. It just looks like a normal face imo.

As for people commenting on his peen, I think that's actually valid. He constantly boasts about it, makes fun of others for it, and goes out of his way to showcase it as much as possible in public and online. He's publicly boasting about the size of his dick when we can literally see that it's all delusion because he's actively showing us. It's not rlly body shaming, and more making fun of the delusion imo, since he's the one engaging the conversation constantly.

I understand that argument, and in part I agree; but as a counterargument it could be said that, regardless, treating physical characteristics as worthy of mockery is still encouraging body shaming.

To make another example: people sometimes mock Trump for being obese, which he is. Now, like - I suspect - most others here I don't really give a damn about his feelings being hurt; but still, treating obesity as something worth mocking in his case encourages people to think of obesity as something worth mocking in general, and this might well end up hurting people who don't have anything to do with his shit.

  • Yea that shit is rampant. I’m not even a guy and it just makes me feel gross to watch

  • Agreed. Gotta stop making jokes about physical features of anyone we don't agree with. It's not funny, it's lame, alienating and pointless. Yes people are fat, short, bald, have big ears/feet or whatever but using that as a reason to shame someone you don't like is very telling to the people you care about in your life. Just because they don't open their mouth or say something doesn't mean it doesn't make them feel shitty for having those same qualities. There are always other things you can use or maybe just don't go there? That's always an option. The same progressives that know/understand respecting the women you date but no other women means you don't actually respect women. It's not a one size fits all or is subjective depending on who you're insulting. Shit doesn't work that way and you're bumming out people that can't always control their physical aspects and yes that includes fat people. And no I'm not arguing with anyone about it, go read a book about anti fatness or watch a mini doc. Argue with ya momma, not me.

  • Men using the word "females" instead of women piss me off to no end. If I hear or read that from a dude outside of a scientific context, I immediately know he's a douche canoe.

  • It is hypocritical and we can acknowledge that

  • I’ve seen this kinda stuff all over the place and it’s just horrible. Can’t we be nice to each other? Can’t we respect each other no matter the gender?

  • Height absolutely should is where the hypocrisy hits, but its also valid to acknowledge that many people act specific ways due to insecurities they have. I've met more people who wield toxic masculinity like a weapon because they're ashamed of themselves than I have women who are mean due to their appearances. It's definitely more common for them to be mean to other women than to the world itself, but I'm not a woman so I can't really speak on that in depth.

  • It's important to remember that most people are liberals even if they don't know it. Now that "body positivity" is a mainstream term, many of those same people will only understand its utility at an individual level without any understanding of how the underlying moral principle is a criticism of systemic misogyny and fatphobia.

I run into tons of liberal women (not synonymous with "feeeeMAAALES") who call themselves allies but will say the most insane, transphobic shit if they think its making fun of cis men. Misogyny is the principle behind "small-dick" energy as it asserts failed masculinity is not only the explanation for bad men, but also that failure is biological as they are not real "males." Its a way to obfuscate patriarchy's role in how most men are just raised to be shitty people.

  • Hot take: all body shaming is wrong and we shouldn't do it

  • said the same people, who are making fun of older women

Also women who have given birth. Mention it around that toxic strain of CF women and find out how feminist they really are real quick.

-woman whose body is not “ruined”

  • it's not even close IMO, as a woman you don't exist or get bullied if you don't look good and if you do you get harassed and sexualized, in any case people don't take you seriously. being a man no one expects you to conform to any standard, you can be ugly and still exist in public

  • 'I say mean things to women but women aren't allowed to say mean things to me.'

I am a woman. I feel disgusted when people here make jokes about men's bodies, just like I feel when someone makes such jokes about women's or queer people's bodies. How about you insult a mans political ideology or something that he's actually related to instead of his penis? In reality, you are only insulting all men who drew the genetic short straw and not the e.g., MAGA dumbass you're currently having an argument with.
Men with small penises receive the most male bullying statistically and it doesn't help when the more liberal and left of us also make jokes about something they cannot help too. No one leaving them alone or respecting their bodies drives them into the arms of manosphere circles like Andrew Tate that preach insane misogyny.

If you are enjoying making small dick jokes, you are helping to drive people there, you are part of the problem. Jut because men make jokes about womens bodies doesn't men we have to sink to the same pathetic level.

  • Small dick energy doesn't equal to having a small dick. Same way that a person being a huge dick doesn't mean he has a huge dick. The height thing is bullshit. That I'll agree with but at the same time to go with a chick who judges you just based on height

It's body shaming because people say "small dick energy" as if it's a bad thing. Like having a small dick = bad = your worth less because of it. It doesn't matter if they actually think the guy has a small dick or not.

It's like how saying "that's so gay" is also bad. They usually don't mean that something is literally gay, but they are using gay as if it = bad. It's just all shaming people

  • Small dick energy isn’t body shaming lol. It’s as the name suggests an appearance that makes it seem as if you have a small dick and are an asshole to cope

  • I've literally only ever seen women doing that in kink subreddits where men ask to be made fun of by women so if that guy thinks all progressive women do that, that's on him

Thats on your own curation of your internet experience. Definitely not reflective of society as a whole lol

So where is it happening? Hmm?

It’s not super common because honestly most people dgaf but there are circles of people who think it’s funny to joke about men being short and having small dick energy

I still think it's mostly men making fun of other men for having small dicks

    Def not

As a person bullied throughout their entire school experience I can confirm that you're wrong to reject my words

As a guy with a micropenis I have a lot of experience with women laughing about it or sharing it

You literally have a post where women are swooning over your dick pic

you must’ve clicked on the wrong profile not sure what you are referring to, maybe you clicked on the dudes from earlier?

I see it on this very subreddit on every popular post. Our side is sinking real low not thinking about the implications of body shaming the other way around at all either. I have several comments in which I reply and point out peoples hypocrysy on this subreddit regarding small penis jokes. You just haven't noticed somehow.
