Can also be done using swipe gestures but that is less enjoyable for me.

Flag button didn't work cos I have it set to only flag after answer is revealed

  • (This sounds like an ad...)

You can assign the same key to "show answer" and the answer buttons. This allows you to put hard at the top and you no longer need to press "up down up right up down up left...".

Also, why not use the new study screen?

Lol nah not an ad. Just sharing something I felt has massively improved my ankis QOL.

Very low effort if it was

    Whats the new study screen?

If you have the latest version of AnkiDroid, you can enable the new study screen from the settings.

Looks nice! But TBF my whole thing is avoiding screentime anyway

Also I like having a separate show answer button so I don't accidentally show the next answer if I slip and double click this one

  • This is awesome. I was honestly thinking about something like this. Where it is hands free, so I could study while running. Though didnt think about the joystick, but voice commands.

How do you feel the voice only studying works for you? I imagine it helps a lot with your listening ability?

I do LSD (long slow distances aka zone 2).

Doing Anki at the same time was a game changer, it is like doing 2 chores with the effort of half one.

When the treadmill gets boring, I focus on Anki and forget about the treadmill and vice-versa.

I already had audio on every card one way. So TL to English I would always just hear the voice, and I could reveal the text if needed. And English to TL I would see the text in English and then when I revealed the answer I would hear it to make sure I pronounced correctly and also see it written in TL. So for me adding the English voice is the only change.

I have little interest in anything other than spoken communication, at least at first so for me recognising audio and producing audio is all important. Obviously if spelling is important to you then that may take a hit.

But overall I completely recommend it, I could definitely do this while running

  • Your using your hands with your “hands-free” approach 😂

That is exactly how I did Anki for years,

In the last 3 years I started using clozes, so I no longer do Anki like this, but, THIS is one of most effectives ways that I used.

    Fantastic video, thanks for sharing!

Yeah I misspoke haha. Eyes free

It's good right, why did you go cloze instead?

  • Hey this is super interesting! How did you generate the audio for the cards exactly, is it something that can be done automatically or you have to manually make and add the audio files to the deck?

Look up hyper TTS tutorial anki on YouTube for the good voices

And check the anki manual for tts for the shit one. It's very simple

This wasn't meant passive aggressive btw, simply encouraging that it's not hard haha
