• u/gaytorboy, our users say your post fits the subreddit! Welcome!!

  • I trained my dog to track me, but I didn't explicitly train her to track cats. Then one day my kitten goes missing, and I jokingly asked her to find him. She didn't even hesitate, sniffed her way to a tree, looked up, and there he was, stuck in that tree. She just turned 12 this month, and I tell her how much I love her several times a day!

Whoa! Amazing! She knew the kitten by name.

  • Thanks for sharing that repost. Blue’s a clever boy. We never seem to have enough time with our pets😔

The best we can do is give them love, comfort and support when they’re in their twilight years and take lots of pics❤️

Thanks for the kind words. There are many goodest boys, but he's surely one of them.

I think of him when I listen to Cats in the Cradle, and wish I'd given him more adventures. But little boy Blue always sees me as the best thing ever.

My point is people who don't talk to animals are fucking weird and I'm sick of being gaslit about that.

My family not only talks to our dog, we have a running gag where we put on a funny voice and pretend he talks back.

Oh we have full conversations with our pets in this house. They fuckin make noises back like they’re engaging in discourse, I love it! We discuss, learn, conclude, then move on!

  • One of my dogs taught herself a couple tricks. I tried to get her to dance last week, and she succeeded on her first try, standing on two legs and spinning. I just made a circle with my hand and she did it immediately.

A few years back, she discovered she could rock back on a banana-shaped chair and I decided one day to tell her to knock it over, pointing at it. She understood the assignment, and has done it every time it's been requested.

  • He is such a good boy. I do hate the fact that dogs get old fast.

On the other hand, in one average human lifetime, you can give so many dogs a great life. A matter of perspective, but an important one. 🥰

    I agree to this too.

  • Good boy finds sneaky kitty Head pats and butt scritches earned

  • These are the best videos to have. I still go through my memories with my best dude years later.

  • He knows his friends name. His owner asked where his friend was. So he showed him. Sweetest thing I’ve ever seen!!!

  • somehow my mini schnauzer knew this too when i asked. my "bochi" (boston-chi cross) doesn't get it tho. possibly dogs with some herding and/or tracking heritage are wired for it, tho maybe it's just smart puppers.

  • It's funny how dogs seem to pick this up on their own. My parent's dogs know this without training and my dog knows this without training.

  • I had a Belgian Malinois mix years ago who was real good with names. Had 4 rooommates and 3 other animals and he knew them all by name. Even had a handful of regular friends he knew by name also. This reminds me of him. Much love to you and yours

  • Tell him we said GOOD BOY!!!

  • My former Aussie/ lab was smart like this. My recent chow mix never could learn a single word. Ah well.

  • He's beautiful, and smart, too.

  • Such a good boy!

  • he's so smart! he knows where is Kiki's place)) if you have any questions, contact him

  • What a good boy. And such a sneaky spot! I can see why you would need a pup to help with the finding!

  • they really do understand us way more than we give them credit for. i hope blue has an extra long, healthy life 🩵

  • I have a new puppy that is a herd dog. With no training she has learned to get after a cat that runs out of the house and pin them down until I walk over and get them to take the cat back inside.
