Then how can we be sure if there is an another universe where cat DIDN'T survive? He opened the box and from what we can tell living in that box as a cat is very much survivable? How many times do we need to repeat the same experiment just to find out the chances of the cat dying in the box?
But most importantly, how long can that cat survive without a constant supply of food and water before he dies of dehydration, hunger, or a disease that was able to take hold of the cat because of the owner's negligence?
This thought experiment (not perfect at all, because it assumes death is a binary event, which it is not) proposes the idea that the cat himself may die from our point of view, but from his own perspective, he stays alive. This is entirely based on the premise that the many-worlds interpretation is correct (which John Titor believes is the case /s), so don't take it as anything more serious.
Afterlife assume we're on a single core processor, but if we have parallel universes dividing every moment, everything of that sort becomes subjective. It's confusing and it can't not be.

I gently open the box…
You find a cat
Or does he?
Or maybe he's only seen the universe where's he's survived? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_suicide_and_immortality

That's... You're describing afterlife. You just brought religion into a scientific discussion.
I don't know, Source Code doesn't seem like a religion movie.

Dang, now I am suddenly uncertain of eucalyptus leaves and naps.
Im ashamed it took me almost ten seconds to get the joke. I am really not at my best today.

That was only before you checked
It would be "Schrödinger"
It's amusing that I am subscribed to a DP/DC fanfic titled SchrodingerCat that I just received an update earlier today....
