I’d like to, but most folks here don’t like my honesty or my experiences.

Big thing I care about are the seats. How were they?

I got a surprise non-consensual ride on Acela NextGen today (unannounced substitution) and the seats actually suck way more than I expected. The seat backs don't move at all and the seat bottoms move slightly front to back; that's it. Overweight people can't open the tray table because there is no room between the table and your body; it's really jammed. I had purchased a First Class ticket and was seated in First Class, Car #1, and in terms of comfort it compared poorly to a school bus.

Don't let me get started on the lack of luggage space.

When Amtraks other first class on sleeper car routes in thirty to forty or fifty year old cars sounds better than a brand spanking new first class daytime train somethings wrong

Absolutely. I'm convinced that they were so focused on maximizing revenue by increasing the number of seats that they totally forgot that First Class should mean having enough room to move and stretch and reposition yourself.

There’s probably a joke im too polite to make

I was on nextgen Acela first class recently. It was sold out but there seemed to be plenty of space for luggage. We had 4 suitcases and 2 smaller bags.

Interesting! I have a (relatively minor) visual impairment so maybe the low lighting hid a rack by the door? I saw the skinny glass racks over the seats, but at my age I can't lift much weight over my head.

If I had I known that it was NextGen before it pulled into the platform I might have been able to get some help. I am still really annoyed about the "bait-and-switch" aspect of that.

The seats are horrible. Feels like they pulled money from the seat design to save money on the project. Hard, uncomfortable, no relationship to how the human body is designed to sit. I will never travel Nextgen again. I'll fly, I'll rent a car, I'll take the regional. Anything but Next gen.

  • Why are they not using the electronic display

  • I don't get why trains don't use the same seats used in airliners..

No way u want less space, uncomfortable seats, and bigger crowds 😭
