I am planning to take the Palmetto both directions from DC to Savannah and back at the end of December. I am taking this trip primarily for the train ride itself and not so much for the destinations. My question is - for a roughly 12 hr train ride, about 8 of which will be in daylight, are the views nice? I don’t need high drama (like the Zephyr for example) but is it relatively pretty? or mostly just industrial and open fields? I believe the swamps would be lovely but are they just a very tiny portion? Also, I’ve read it can be pretty cold - is it so cold it’s better not to make the trip? Thanks!

TBH, there are some pretty spots, I don't find it to be a very scenic trip. For the most part, the view is of trees and fields, with the occasional town thrown in.
Thank you!
It’s a very relaxing ride. Lots of farms and trees.
Thank you - I appreciate this
Lots of forest. There are some good river views in Virginia Between DC and Richmond.
