Less than 2% of White-European Americans owned slaves. It makes me wonder who owned all these vast plantations and businesses. Also - by 1865, over 360,000 white's laid down their lives in the effort to end slavery. Chattel engenderment is one thing, but the global slave trade happened everywhere.
