I've seen various posts about how much the vet appointments cost, and I figured I'd leave my breakdown here. I have CATS. CATS. I do not know how much the dog appointments cost. Every vet office is different, but hopefully this gives a little frame of reference.
Vaccine appt (if it's not all in one appt): $120/pet
USDA Certificate Appt at the Vet: $375/pet
Plus a one-time charge of $101 for the USDA endorsement (up to five pets on one cert).
I'm thankful to have those done and hopeful my certificate will make it on time. It's a bit of a racket. The vet appointment was just weight, a quick exam, and the microchip scan. Then she filled out the paperwork online and submitted it.
Random thoughts: I think my vet said that the forms have been updated recently. It's worth double checking with your vet to make sure everything is up-to-date.
I had to use UPS for shipping because I couldn't get a FedEx envelope+Saturday to print. It was shockingly easy on UPS.
For your own peace of mind, I recommend not traveling right after a holiday. The window for my endorsement/mailing is so small and my anxiety is so big.

For our dog, it was about $600, but we’re moving through the EU to the UK, so there were several certificates involved.
Would you mind telling me a little about this? We are planning to move to the UK next year and have to go through France with our cat. What extra certificates do we need?
I did that last year and needed UK and EU certification. It's expensive!
APHIS 7001, Declaration to Germany, Declaration to UK, and original rabies certificate.
Besides the vaccines, I wonder how much these prices vary from place to place. We moved with dogs, not cats, so I don’t know how much that plays into this but the appointment for the cert was $59/dog. We had the $101 charge for the endorsement but we also had to pay an international at $348, I think up to 5 pets as well.
I think you’ll get it on time. We did ours at the height of the government shutdown and the USDA still turned it around in a couple days

I moved from MA and it wasn’t close to 2k but like I mentioned in my other comment I don’t know how much it changes from place to place. I’m hoping it’s not 2k for you though! Haha

I paid $2000 to bring three dogs into mainland Europe. The USDA certification came through with less than 24 hours before we flew, we were definitely on tenterhooks! We then had to pay (a much smaller amount) to have all of the paperwork checked when we landed in Lisbon. Would I pay it again? Yes, as the dogs are part of our family. Do I feel I was fleeced? Absolutely, they were weighed and had a couple of shots, none of which remotely warranted the end bill.
You had to pay when you landed? Was that for their pet passport? I really don't understand why the actual USDA has to certify. Isn't that the point of having a USDA certified vet? And I don't understand why I can't just go pick the form up. They used to let you make an appointment, but now you can't. I'd do it again, of course. But, ugh. The cost.
Yes, it was less than €100. The vet was in Lisbon airport and checked the paperwork and microchips. I don’t think this is necessarily the same in every European country but it was another expense on top of the $2000 USDA debacle
That's very good to know. Some cities don't check them at all, and some make you stop.
