(Reposting because my old post got automatically removed due to nonexistent location)
I once shared my room here when I moved in 3/4 years ago. But with time I added different furniture’s and changed the layout quite a bit. Happy to answer any questions you have 😊
Note: it was a journey, and most pieces just happened to be collected with time. Some pieces like Vitsoe chair 620, I literally purchased them in one country (Germany) and drove them back home.
Very nice, love the vibe
Thank you :)
This is one of the best spaces I’ve ever seen in this sub. Congratulations, you have impeccable taste.
Thanks for the kind words.
very very nice! definitely taking some inspirations from here. May I ask - where did you buy furniture? Custom made? Is this original Herman Miller Eames chair?
All are legit and original yes :). These were from Vitra, Swiss made. Eames chairs are produced by two manufacturers, in the U.S it's Herman Miller, in Europe it's Vitra.
How are the prices in Turkey for those design classics?
Assume around 1.5-2x of the European prices.
I think you posted this in the wrong sub :) first of all, this looks too professionally put together to be in the amateur sub. Secondly, that is a little fortune in one room. Very classy and timeless.
Haha right, note that it's a journey. See my post 3 years ago posted to this exact subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/AmateurRoomPorn/comments/w0dbo0/my_lounge_library_part_of_my_office_ankara_turkey/
For example I always wanted to get a Vitsoe Shelves, but I waited until I could purchase them, but used the Ikea Elvarli ones. With time I replaced some of my furniture with other ones, and my existing ones went to my children's rooms or other relatives :)
Thanks for the link to your old post. Very cool to see it come together. I wonder what you think of USM Haller cabinets and shelves.
I only have their desk and a three drawer file cabines. I love them. Very sturdy and feels like it'll outlive my kids. I once wrote a comparison between Vitsoe and USM shelves on my personal blog post, check it out here: https://arslan.io/2024/06/23/vitsoe-vs-usm-shelving-cabinets/
That was an interesting read. For a time I had considered a USM Haller lowboard below the TV for all the electronic equipment, but our library of books has grown so much, I am considering using that space for an extension of the library.
I checked pricing for those shelves but struggled to get something tangible. Any chance you share how much does it cost?
They are modular so really depends on what you get or not. The prices are all listed on their website, so you need to first create a plan and then calculate the pieces. Can't say they are cheap btw.
Where is that gorgeous, I’m assuming, squirrel painting from?
That's a Japanese Byobu. you can find those in https://www.1stdibs.com/search/furniture/?oq=byobu. Pricing ranks from 500 to 10k USD, depending on condition, artist, etc.. This one I got it from a local antique shop, which got it from an embassy worker who left the country. I paid around 1000 USD, but they are hard to find here in Turkey, for me it was worth it. I don't know the real value though, it could be that it's cheaper or worth more.
Delightful, and what an informative answer, thank you!
The Byobu is such a great choice! They have such an instantly classy and classic vibe. I might have to look into finding one haha.
How did you mount the byobu on the wall?
I attached a few hooks on each corner and then pinned those hooks to the wall.
Love Byobus, been looking into buying one myself!!
Beautiful
So good. Where can one get that Dieter Rams sofa?
Vitsoe sells them, you can order from them: vitsoe.com
Thanks
Wow! I love it. It has a great feel
I love it! So i have to ask, what fountain pen ink do you currently have on your desk??
I have the Montblanc Haus Black (sold only in Hamburg, in their HQ) and a Sailor Manyo Ink Chigaya, also in black.
That's really neat about the Haus ink! Those are interesting bottles they're in, are those original to the ink, or do you transfer the inks to them?
Original. I never transfered Inks :)
I love all the details, like nothing is extra!
Dream home
Stunning
Dry impressed you got Vitsoe shelving out in Turkey. Very nice interior- good harmony.
Yeah, probably that was the hardest part to acquire in the whole room. Took me 3-4 months of dealing with customs and papers.
Oh yeah, I can imagine- very annoying. Did you live in the UK at any point?
Nope never. I lived in Germany and in the U.S though for quite some time.
Ahh ok- definitely an international flavour to your décor.
i’m obsessed
Gorgeous
Oh I love this. Sorry to say but I'm basically fantasizing about curling up in that super comfy chair and chilling with a book!
Love the softness and warmth. Very cozy!
Gorgeous. Very tastefully done.
Thank you!
Unbelievably classy
Not one "Turkish" lamp in site. Is that just marked to us westerners??
What you mean by Turkish lamp :) It's not marketed at all, this is my room and this is how I like it.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is, this room looks so modern it could have come straight out of Portland Oregon haha. I added a link to what i mean by "Turkish" lamp. They are extremely expensive in every country I've seen them sold in-- including my own. Also people teach costly classes on how to make them. I was wondering if more homes in Turkey actually look like yours and this style is just a gimmick sold to westerners.

Aha I see. I guess the Turkish lamp you defer, we have one in our guest room, but believe me it's rare. Turkey is mostly western so the room you see of course is highly specialized as I'm into industrial design and I love designer furnitures, but you'll see houses like this in almost every city. It's very common and not a gimmick at a all.
Okay thank you! I hope to visit Turkey someday. I want to see the Hagia Triada in Istanbul, and of course ride in a hot air balloon in Cappadocia. Maybe visit the underground city.
How lovely. And my parents met and were married in Ankara after WW2. Mom loved Ankara.
Thank you. Ankara is a calm place, not much going one for sure :)
Sir, what is the little brown box and brown pen holder on your desk. Beautiful room
The brown box is from a Japanese company specialized in creating pen and watch boxes: https://www.toyocraft.com/en/
The pen holder is from NFP Design, Istanbul, Turkey based: https://nfp-design.com/en-en
Thank you
Look expensive. What do you do for living if I may ask?
I love this so much!! So stylish and minimalist and charming. Nice job!
I wouldn’t call this ‘amateur’ at all. Everything is really nice and put together.
Nice, clean and neat. Well done! Where did you get the mac holder from?
That's my own design, check it out: https://arslan.io/macbook-holder-for-apple-studio-display/
Ah another fountain pen enthusiast, I see. Well done, good sir!!
Yeap, I love them :)
Peaceful.
Classy!! I love it so much, it feels effortless and chic
Had a blast this year in Ankara. On my last visit I stayed in Kavaklidere a few nights between meeting a few factories and it was a lovely neighborhood.
Great room, btw!
Wow that’s such a vibe. Amazing taste! Please show us the rest of your apartment
That's beautiful, well done!
Wonderfully put together
Thank you!
Great setup. Where are the wall mounted shelves/drawers from?
Those are from Vitsoe.com, the 606
Thanks
it's the 606 system by Vitsoe
Thanks
Love the way this room looks ! And I really love the squirrels in that painting 🥰
Please go eat at Uighur Mutfağı for me, lütfen.
bi acı kahveye geliriz artık
Tasteful dude.
Very stylish - you have good taste and the room looks very comfortable and welcoming.
And you seem to be a very organised person, everything looks so tidy and neat!
What are the details on the flooring? I love that it's both warm and neutral
Impeccable taste!
I love the vibe 😌
A big Rams fan? I love your space!
Oh yeah, I love all his work. Huge fan.
Wow.
Squirrelcats? Or catsquirrels?
Happy cake day! Sublime furniture and taste. Do you mind sharing what your profession is/what do you work in?
Thank you. I'm a Software Engineer, but heavily invested in Industrial Design and Photography. Check out my homepage for more information about me and my work: https://arslan.io
Will sure check it out! Thanks for sharing and congrats.
Beautiful but please straighten the desk pad
Omg, love the Artemide lamp!
Lovely design
Could you tell me what finish your Eames plywood chair has? It seems too orange for the white ash and too light for the yellow they currently make. Is it a vintage color?
Yeap, it's the American Cherry. Note that Eames are produced by two manufacturers. One is Herman Miller in the US, and Vitra rest of the world (Europe and Middle East). The one I have is from Vitra. The finishing might be not available in the US. You can see the available veneer finishes from the Vitra webpage: https://www.vitra.com/en-un/product/details/lounge-chair
It's nice, although a bit generic.
Still looks comfy though and hope you enjoy.
Just makes me think of a broader conversation about trend chasing and especially how TikTok and Instagram influence interior design hese days.
The shelves, lounge chair, paper lamp are pretty much in 99% of TikTok interior videos lol
Edit: I see, neutral and fair discussions aren't welcome here anymore? Weird....
Dunno, I never used TikTok, and some of these ideas I already had 10 years ago when Instagram wasn't even populer.
Thank you for a normal response. In this case it speaks all the more for your taste that people are copying it (: great taste regardless
