One week, I had pizza for dinner twice. It was three days apart from each other. When I told my aunt the second time, she said, “You can’t live off of pizza, Taylor. You need other things.” I said, “I know,” and then she said, “Well just a couple days ago you were eating pizza. It’s full of carbs…” And she just kept going on and on about it.

Ultimately, I said, “So what? Why’s it any of your business? There’s no harm in it. Besides, I’ve never judged you and your husband for eating rice and beans with every meal.” I also wanna note that I live a very active lifestyle. I work two jobs where I’m on my feet all day and I work for DoorDash and Instacart on the side, so my doctor told me that I need to make sure I get enough carbs, sodium, and protein. AITJ?

  • NTJ Why some people think it’s appropriate to judge others and give sermons about it I’ll never know.

Exactly! Like, since when did eating pizza twice in a week become a national crisis? Some people really need to mind their own plate.

    old people problem lol

  • Your aunt sounds like she’s auditioning for the role of “Unsolicited Life Coach of the Year"

Agree with this - OP ask if she’s volunteering to meal prep for you? No? Then, be of service, not air…I can’t eat your wise words, when I can, dish them out.

  • It is a repost, also a pretty old one… YTJ

  • NTJ. Honestly, who wants to be lectured by someone like that? It’s so annoying! Where do these people get off ?

  • NTJ

    This is super weird.

I knew a guy who was a "picky eater", he was sedentary, ate like 3 foods, I wish I was joking, and mostly had take out every night while the rest of us ate what whoever cooked made. His weight was double what he should be.

We didn't come at him like that. He's a grown man. It was between him, his doctor, and his wallet.

My step brother once ate an entire xl rotisserie chicken down to the bones as a snack once. It was... a gross show. Not gonna lie. However, I managed to keep my voice AND my face quiet. It's not hard.

You seemingly are healthy. Ate pizza twice in a week (let me clutch my pearls) who the hell thinks they have the right to examine your eating habits and go on a tirade?

As for pizza being crazy unhealthy... is isn't. It's got a lot going for it. It's not the healthiest, but by far not the worst depending on the pizza. Carbs, Protein, Dairy, Vegetable/fruit, herbs, fat sugar, sodium. It is also tasty, great for morale, it's fast, filling.

Carbs ARE a part of a balanced diet and important for your brain, muscles and nervous system.

Everything in balance and moderation. Pizza is FINE. Twice a week? FINE. Unless you have a medical condition and your doctor tells you so...

Kept your face quiet. THAT is a life skill worth working towards. 🤣😂🤣

I feel it should be taught in middle school as part of a social skills module. It serves a person well. 😅🤣

  • You don't need to explain anything to ANYONE. Shut her down when she tries this shit.

  • Always play the Doctor told me card. "At my last checkup my doctor said I wasn't getting enough lycopene. Said he couldn't write a prescription for pizza but that it would help me."

  • Ntj. It's none of her business. As far as fast food goes, pizza ain't that bad! Take a multivitamin and eat your pizza! It's delicious!

  • NTJ. You defended yourself and set a boundary. That’s how adults talk, not how aunties lecture.

  • Why is a grown woman criticizing you anyway?

And focusing on how many carbs someone else is eating just highlights that her own eating is likely disordered. People who have unhealthy relationships with their bodies and food tend to project their issues into others in a big way. NTJ

  • NTJ. She is projecting and needs to mind her business, period. But she will probably tell you she is doing it because she CARES ABOUT YOU. :|

  • NTJ. I love me a take out. I'll have a couple a week if I have the money. You told them to mind their business and good for you.

  • I’ve read this before awhile ago.

  • Why does she even Need to Know what you Eat?

  • Repeat. Saw this before.

  • It only takes one time to learn about talking about your lifestyle to know it is none of anyone’s business. Decades ago my dad asked how much I made and proceeded to tell my brothers and sisters.. never again.

  • NTJ, but YWBTJ if you keep Aunt in the loop for all your life activities. She's judgmental and a busybody.

Grey rock her and live your life as you feel best.

  • people not getting enough sodium. yeah that's a big thing. and the hospital wards are full of people not getting enough protein

  • NTJ. Your aunt sounds like the type of person to tell you to quit eating so much sweets while she's eating a slice of chocolate cake.

  • NTJ. It is absolutely none of your aunts business so definitely no problem putting her in her place.

  • NTJ

Pizza is actually very good food. If made with quality ingredients it has all the old fashioned food groups.

The question to start… why were you even discussing what you eat with your aunt? Sounds like you ‘opened the door’ as they say…

  • NTJ - Ask your aunt: “when did you become a doctor? I can’t take advice from you even as a doctor since I already have one. Maybe you should become a nutritionist. I’d respect your empty advice more if I knew you actually had some education backing it. Even then I don’t appreciate anyone giving me unsolicited advice. Keep it to yourself or I will share my uneducated opinion with you on your eating habits.”

  • Pizza crust-grain group Sauce-fruit and vegetable group Toppings-more vegetables and meat-protein group Cheese- dairy You have all four major food groups. So what’s there to argue about

  • There is nothing wrong with your diet. NTA

  • I've never heard of a Dr saying to get more sodium unless you have low blood pressure. Pizza has several days worth of sodium in it.

Maybe stop telling your aunt what you eat since she's a known nosy person?

POTS, anybody with that has to take salt tablets to make sure they get enough sodium.
