I really like their Spicy Boiled Beef, but for a change of pace today I got the flipside Spicy Chilled Beef.
The boiled is a thick soup with lots of thin-cut flank and vegetables. The chilled is cold and flank and a mix of tendon and tripe. Both are in basically an oily Sichuan base, and it’s making me break a mild sweat this morning.
Imho, Tasty is the single best and most authentic Chinese restaurant in ABQ. I mean it’s not top-tier Chinatown gourmet level, since it’s more of a cafe vibe, but they have a reasonably wide menu and great execution at reasonable prices. Also there’s really no proper Sichuan in this whole city (state?), but the handful of Sichuan dishes they do here are quite satisfactory.
I keep meaning to try Tasty Noodles, I have their menu bookmarked. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd go there for Christmas dinner. I'm more lazy than I am hungry though. Maybe tomorrow!
We just stopped by to pick up our online order, it's a complete shit show. Waited for over half an hour with probably a dozen people in front of us, nobody was seen. Ended up leaving. They're clearly overwhelmed by demand.
Tasty is great, but stay away, today is not the day.
Update, swung by and Chopstix is not totally insane but pretty packed, wait for a table, delivery guys constantly dashing in and out. Probably doable if your party is four or less and can wait a little.
A lot of Indian places open today too. I’m at Majarajah now, about to get a table, and their dinner buffet goes until 9pm today. Very busy but had open tables.
The whole point of going to Chinese places on Christmas Day is because they tend to be folks who don’t personally celebrate Christmas and aren’t missing out by being open.
This is like a century-long trope, that Jewish people and others will get Chinese food on Christmas Day because that’s what’s open.
Their spicy boiled fish filet with white rice is my favorite meal in all of ABQ

You should write restaurant reviews, I want to go to Tasty right now!

Anyone seen if Chopstix, just two minutes south, is likewise swamped?

Certainly beats the crackers I'm having. If they didn't all get eaten that is. I hate this fucking holiday.

Hey fuck you I’ll give them my money if I want. Merry Christmas.

Fair
What a silly, narrow perspective to have.
