Wow, thanks for this.Ā Ā That library card brings back memories. Can someone explain to me the importance of that design, I've seen it on a lot of textiles.Ā Ā
It is a Puebloan motif that was passed to other local tribes because they also though it was cool, such as the Apaches and Navajos. It also used to be on the buses and also that plane livery I designed.
I love the initial one. The one with the⦠Angles⦠Idk they always kinda remind me of another symbol with similar angles so I didnāt care for them.
Honestly not sure! And also probably worth pointing out that this is probably a me problem more than a āwhy did they do that?ā Sorta thing since Iām sure most do not see it (no pun intended). But since I do see it, I donāt want the constant visual in my wallet
It depends on how you consider it and by whom. For Hindus, Pueblos, and Navajos, the swastika is a symbol of divinity and good luck, especially in horizontal orientation, which is why you see them at the Kimo. The diagonal one...well, we all know what that means.
Didnāt know that about Native American culture! Thanks for teaching me that. I did know that about Hinduism - thatās my culture - but I didnāt know it was used as a symbol in Indigenous cultures also!
I didn't know other people missed the old card design like I do š®
I didn't know they'd changed them
fake library fan smh
I have that first library card - still using it
Same, but I have to renew mine in the new year and I'm worried they'll make me take a new one.
They shouldn't. The library here in Rio Rancho let me keep mine.
I remember having one of these in second grade! Super cool!
I recently lost my OG card that I had for decades and had to get a new one, which is why I made these. š¢

Remember the even older style? Mustard yellow.
Definitely remembered that as soon as I saw these ones. Flimsy plastic, mustard yellow.
Me, looking at the designs: but what about the mustard yellow?
Thatās the one I was sad when I had to upgrade from it!Ā
I still have this card lol. The librarians always comment on it whenever I have to show them it.
Loved that design, thank you!
Remember when it was called the Rio Grande Valley library system?
I remember when the zoo was called Rio Grande Zoo.
Wait, what do the current ones look like? I only have the first one as others have said haha
They come in 4 different colors now! But no pretty design like this. I have a turquoise one.
Oh wow, very nice, turquoise would be pretty legitimate honestly haha
Mine is orange until I cover it.
They changed it??š
Quite a while back, I'm afraid.

Like at the Kimo?

How is the first one retro? That's what my card looks like!
The words/info is different/outdated on yours's. Check again!
Wait the first one isnāt the current one? Can we see the new one?
Just imagine the last one without the border and either blue, green, orange, or lime, not red.
My card is the first one. I have to renew by the end of the year. Will they make me get a new card?
They will let you keep it.
