So, I stumbled upon this sub like 6 months ago.
I was almost a daily watcher like a decade ago, but the last few years only catch like 1 video a month. Like many of you, I thought it got boring, but I was t angry. Just stopped caring.
But I was pretty sad when I heard he died. I’d spent a ton of time watching this dude.
Ok, but I’m about to say something against some of the people in this Sub, can we handle it? But I do have a big BUT afterwards if you can hang on.
- So I think some of the people here are straight up assholes. Not most, but some. Calling someone a fat, slob,(*edited*** occasionally pedo vibes) on every single post isn’t necessarily a criticism to me. Well… maybe. But not constrictive. lol. Calling someone that right after they die Is Kindof just wild to me. Unless there’s proof this guy was a pedo or evil. But I’ve never seen any?
So here the big BUT…. Reading what people are posting on the regular Woo sub is straight up cringe right now. Dude is not getting a statue or a walk of fame Star. The parasocial things people are posting is weird. Like, stop going to his house. Stop leaving Starbucks on his doorstep. wtf???

I’m somewhere in the middle. But I can see why people treating him like a god or something could make you turn to this sub. I just wish it didn’t resort to childish bullying. I’m honestly fine with bullying someone I think deserves it. But not because someone is fat and stopped making videos I like. lol

I'm actually surprised some of these YouTubers act like the passing of AtW is their first personal loss - In their entire lives.
News flash: That's life. Enjoy your own life while you have it, without breaking the law. We are all mortal, and faced with our own mortality.

He was popular with a lot of Disney fans and he lived right next to Disney World. It makes sense people are going to stop by and probably will continue to do so whenever people go on their vacations.
Im curious to see what happens when the house is sold, maybe his grave will be close enough but im curious how often people will still go by the house in the future.
I agree. There are some folks on this sub who are giant assholes. They would regularly harp on some pretty mundane stuff that felt unwarranted. They were shitting all over Carpetbagger the other day because he was visiting Adam's house again and talking to some of his fans. The guy lost his friend. Give him a break.
That being said, the majority of people here wanted to see Adam get his health and his life together. It felt like near the end that he was slogging through his videos day after day to keep up his viewing numbers. We wanted him to up his game so he could get out of that cycle and make more engaging content. But not everybody wanted that. They liked the daily videos of him walking around Celebration and that's fine.
There isn't much to say about the other sub. It was virtually a ghost town up until he passed away and now there's a huge swath of his fans who are using it to shit on the people in this sub, which is ironic.
No one was giving Carpetbagger shit for going to Adam's house and talking to fans. We were giving him shit for 4, now 5 videos trying to monetize Adam's death. That's what friends do?

Ya. This is Kindof what I was trying to say. That I understand the why people would have felt a certain way especially because of how his more “crazy” fans were acting on the other Reddit. I was never a part of that community funnily enough. Reddit jumped to offering me this sub first. lol

Sure there are some who went too far, but I think that's what you get when you have a subreddit that only allows gushing praise and even something mild like "well I think he could put a little more effort into his videos like he used to" gets modded. The pendulum swings in the other direction and people do pile on. That's the internet for ya.

You are calling for people on both sides to be reasonable, and I respect that, but I’m afraid that ship has sailed.
Many of us were very reasonable after THIS sub broke the news of his death. We expressed our sadness at his passing and sent our condolences to his family.
After that, the Woovians descended on those posts and started harassing members of this forum calling them “bullies”, “ghouls”, and “monsters”. Some even accused the members of this sub of causing ATW’s death.
They sifted through our post history and looked for anything they could use to crucify members of this sub and threatened members here with cyber bullying lawsuits (they stated they were “collecting evidence”).
Some of us even had deranged Woovians spamming our DMs with hateful statements, threats, etc (some even received death threats).
So, no, I’m sorry. Much like this sub was created because deranged Woovians couldn’t tolerate any criticism of their manchild messiah, even now this forum serves as a counterbalance to the Woovians, intent on making the man a saint.
The time for people being reasonable has passed, the only thing that will end this is time and the slow decline of both of these subs.
And you will probably act surprised and whiney when your comment gets deleted or you get a bunch of negative replies.

That’s where you’re wrong. The comments in the other sub were deleted that were critical of Adam.
If you attack a bunch of members of sub just don’t complain or whine/cry if your comments get deleted.
Some others from that sub came into this sub and did just that.
I don’t think I’ve said anything worth deleting? I agreed with the premise of this sub mostly. Just said some take it too far. But you have to agree either way that censoring a mostly factual thread because you don’t like it is pretty similar.
You brought politics into your discussion. That makes you eligible for deletion.

I agree with you. He was just a guy doing a thing. Watch it or don’t watch, but he doesn’t deserve the petty mean comments any more than he deserves this elevation into sainthood.
He had people who actually knew him and loved him dearly. That in itself says a lot.
