I have to drink from a paper straw instead of a plastic one in the name of saving the environment, while AI uses tons water and energy to generate this slop
Bruh, AI generation use far less water and energy than what you consume (drink, eat, use) in a day, and most of that water is recycled water from sewage and can be reused again. And the most intense part of consumption (training) is typically done where energy and water is cheapest (which, guess what, is also where water and electricity is the most renewable).
AI is a tool, it can be used for malicious or beneficial purposes, but its effects (both positive and negative) are far too overstated.
Is this why entire towns can't have tap water anymore? Uuuuuhhhgg, my bad, ai is good good slop machine gotta generate more child por.. ow oh typo I meant loli por.. pictures 😍😍😍🥰😘😍😘🥰 because normal artists don't want to draw pedo shit 🥲😭😭
That's probably because business has more rights than people do where you live. Besides the water is used to cool so it isn't used up or heavily polluted like regular industrial applications would. It just goes back into the water supply after cleaning. Or at least that's the way it works with datacenters in my country.
To answer the rhetorical question with sincerity, studies have decent variability in results. However, I find the most consistent numbers work out usually to about a tablespoon per search (15 mL).
While they are increasingly using grey water, they mostly get it from pre-existing clean water supplies. It's a huge headache for communities to figure out water supply to them presently, since even "average" ones need as much as a mid sized town!
Yes the actual generation does not use much energy or water but there are thousands happening every minute. The energy and water used to train the LLMs is what is using the most, Google's AI uses more water in a week than an entire Disney park. All of that adds up to become a huge waste since the vast majority of things it's being used for is not an actual tool but a replacement for creativity and engagement with humans.
I'm on your side here, but to be fair, is a Disney park not wasteful? If you start evaluating everything on practical applications then we're going to be shutting down a lot of stuff. I have plenty of reasons to hate AI but the idea that it's wasteful and therefore bad is not one of them. Most of the shit we do is wasteful and I'm not sure we're ready for where that conversation would lead us.
The Disney park water supply goes to more than just cooling down servers, it's going into people, watering all the plants, the animals, cleaning all the dishes, cleaning the park, and the water attractions. The Disney is getting significantly more use out of their water than Google AI's training centers and they aren't causing the local areas of water prices to go way up. Also to my understanding the water that gets used for cooling down servers isn't all that great afterwards.
Downvote me bitches!!!! It’s the truth, who the fuck cares if RAM is high when we can automate science!! You all know that data centers are good because it makes our RAM faster and better in the long run, when things stabilize. Would you rather us a stupid society or a society that makes data driven decisions?
How is it possible that having humans with actual agency isn’t beneficial to survival in this space? Why jump to that? Are we out of resources or people willing to work? I don’t understand that need, the need to bring up the worst possible scenario out of black mirror. People are way too angry at the day to day stuff and leave no rage for the important stuff
The only reason someone would need a computer is vidya games. Definitely no professionals out there who need a computer to do their job, and surely not the majority of modern jobs.
Lots of these bots are foreign too. Meanwhile, china has embraced AI and pushed for controversial content to be spread in us because they know AI is a huge factor in determining the next arms and tech race. Americans can be really blind at times.
And sure AI has issues and is need of regulation but there is balance that is needed rather than fostering calling everything AI slop
They’re ruining everything and the only excuse these people give to justify it is “well I’m too lazy to do anything my damn self!! I don’t like having to pay people! I don’t respect people’s labor! I am an intellectual by the way” and give zero valid use cases. It’s like we’re living in a collective delusion.
These posts share a lot of explanation with the "Why is Instagram trying to make me gay?" posts.
If your feeds are full of AI stuff, it's because you're engaging with it. Maybe you're engaging with it because you hate it so much... but the algorithm does not care why you're engaging.
You are the one deciding that you want to scroll through "personal ragebait" all day. This fake coffee is getting way more attention - more eyeballs, more value - because people are obsessing about it.
AI slop is your personal hell? Then don't live there.
The people sticking up for Ai to a suspicious degree are the ones with the chat bot whose personality they've crafted, and then they have it compliment them all day long.
Ai bot: "You are so attractive. Nobody's penis is as fat, long and hard as yours. Also, you're the greatest at everything."
Your hatred for AI says everything for your capabilities of understanding and using technology. Grow up, touch grass, and try to do something actually achievable with your life instead of crying about a tool people like to use.
Anti-AI people are ruining what they think AI is ruining, but FASTER than AI.
AI is cool when you’re actually doing something productive with it, not when you’re making digital Frappuccino’s that burned down an entire rainforest to produce
What is even cute about that thing?
Weird when you're that into a fucking business
And AI
Exactly. I don’t what’s going on these days…
Bot
I have to drink from a paper straw instead of a plastic one in the name of saving the environment, while AI uses tons water and energy to generate this slop
plot twist: you don't have to drink with any straw

From what i understand, pedos asking artists for commissions dropped off sharply post AI
Didn't stop, just a noticeable decline
this might be the BEST comment oat

warm water going back into a river? You do know that each organism depends on a certain temperature. Also, they only use freshwater
Does it use more than zero? That's too much

How about you stop meat riding Ai and watch Hank Greens video https://youtu.be/H_c6MWk7PQc?si=hp7VhHtXzEgT2xIA

Fair enough. I don't disagree with you. Just curious. Appreciate the info.
No problem
Ah yes let me just stop eating and drinking because it's using too much energy, incredible comparison there.
Fuck generative ai
It's not generative.
It's degenerative.
💯
Fuck you pal, you’re living through a scientific breakthrough
you're living through my ass BUDDY
Downvote me bitches!!!! It’s the truth, who the fuck cares if RAM is high when we can automate science!! You all know that data centers are good because it makes our RAM faster and better in the long run, when things stabilize. you make butthole driven decisions my liege
Nice comeback 😠, you really got me back there buttwipe!!
you should wipe your butt or something idk sorry im loosing steam sorry
hahaha 🤝
Until the data shows that killing 90% of humans would actually benefit the 10% of the rest.

Redditors hate AI because they are stupid lol just ignore them
A scientific breakthrough that is slowly giving me the urge to gouge my eyes out, and is doing the fun stuff for us!!! How great!!!
Alright bucko
we're also living through NO ONE CAN OWN A COMPUTER BECAUSE ALL THE PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE AS SHIT, FUCK YOU
Nearly everyone owns a computer.
They are called smartphones
What a bottom of the barrel rage filled reply… sorry you can’t play marvel rivals, there are more important things going on 😭🖕🏻🫵🏼
The only reason someone would need a computer is vidya games. Definitely no professionals out there who need a computer to do their job, and surely not the majority of modern jobs.
How to farm karma on reddit using AI (you just post AI generated content with the caption fuck AI)
Nah, just writing "fuck AI" is enough for karma farming.
You'd be surprised how many anti-ai posts are by actual bots.
How ironic that anti-ai is fueled by, well, ai. Still, though, those RAM prices are through the roof
Lots of these bots are foreign too. Meanwhile, china has embraced AI and pushed for controversial content to be spread in us because they know AI is a huge factor in determining the next arms and tech race. Americans can be really blind at times.

There is 10 thousand issues with AI and generative art is like 5% of these, and yet its the only part anyone cares about.
or just comment “ai slop” and nothing else under any post
SkyNet is already controlling everything.
They’re ruining everything and the only excuse these people give to justify it is “well I’m too lazy to do anything my damn self!! I don’t like having to pay people! I don’t respect people’s labor! Insane that her bait is still working lmao
Having the logo be perfectly in focus but not the drink is completely ridiculous. Like seriously I looked at this for 2 seconds and it's stupid.
Should've kept it to the chatbots
AI is the single worst thing to ever happen to humanity
Solution: turn off your phone and touch grass
These posts share a lot of explanation with the "Why is Instagram trying to make me gay?" posts.

Anti-AI people are ruining what they think AI is ruining, but FASTER than AI.
anti-AI people are the ones ruining ram and other computer part costs? thats rich
I did try to do something, unfortunately ai took my job. Soon nobody will have jobs and cost of living will be up.
