I’ve have a 10-11 lb Abyssinian with a small frame on a strict diet but she constantly begs for food.
The breeder had warned me it would be hard to control her appetite but I didn’t expect it to be this full blown.
She is healthy and has regular vet visits. She is currently 10 lbs.
Is there a type of snack or food I can feed her throughout the day that is healthy and will keep her satiated that is low in calories?
I have a chonker like that!

Very cute. Are you also having a difficult time keeping the weight down?
Yes! He loves his food. I have he and his sister on a veterinary diet and I feed the prescribed amount for an overweight cat but alas it seems to make no difference. The irony is that she is a normal weight and seems to be able to eat as much as she likes without gaining weight. She's more active than he is, though. He's quite lazy and loves lolly gagging around rather than playing and jumping on things. It's hard to believe the two of them are from the same litter!

The guy is 16 lbs!
So gorgeous ❤️ That regal pose
Maybe its possible to give her only 2/3s of her normal main meals and then feed her the remainder when she begs for more? So she feels like she's getting more food without actually overeating.
That’s a great idea! I’ll try to break up her meals when I can.
Mine is the same and it's difficult to get him to chase toys. He mainly loves cuddling. I had to cut his meals down and it helps sometimes but here and there he'll get to that 11 lbs threshhold again. :( Apparently past 12 is when they're entirely overweight though so I'm glad to keep him lower than that. He was12.5 when I first checked him months ago. He's harder to see weight on right away since he has so much tummy fur as he is a somali kitty.
What a sweetie!

from one chonk to another we see u and love u 🥰
Wet food only. It’s much more food quantity for the equivalent calorific intake of dry food. I also have an insatiable beastie.
Cutie! My boo is about 14 lbs, but muscular. And he has a feeding according to the vet’s instructions. And yes, sometimes they look kinda fattoooo, but it’s only about a bad posing. 😅
I think he looks lean in the second photo! But sheesh yes the proverbial free feed debate, how can we deny these gorgeous creatures access to their kibble (and wet breakfast and Churus).
She has a gorgeous coat and face
What a delightful Aby who loves her food! 💕
Abys love their food and are good at stealing if not careful. I have 3 but still all muscle and a good weight. I do nothing special. Some play, limited treats, free feed and wet food. All fixed and 7, 10 and 10.
This is very relatable, mine are both VERY food motivated and weren’t losing weight despite reducing their kibble amount so I switched them to a wet food only diet. One of them lost weight and looks great- the otter is still fat so I’m working on how to portion her differently. They both still beg for food 24/7.
That’s a heckin CHONK

Chill out. OP explained what weight the cat is and what she eats. OP clearly loves their cat. Is there really any need for taking the energy to even write this comment to them? That's so dramatic. OP is also talking with other commenters about different methods that may help more with the weight loss. How can you say they are abusing their cat?
Edit - they also mention the regular vet visits. Again, tell me how the cat is being abused?

Which humane society? The humane society? 🤣🤣
They think there's one humane society across the world. Interpol humane society.
What??
