I know it's a thought-provoking art piece but cataloging it under awful taste because all those faces are disturbing on so many levels... Enjoy your nightmare fuel!
Art Basel is always a great source of ATBGE. This is what I'd call a one-liner: an expensive joke without much depth and not especially thought-provoking. (Unless you need help understanding the problems with Jeff Bezos.)
I love it, but I feel like explaining it was unnecessary. I would've asked about Andy Warhol though. WTH is he doing in there? Takes the edge off the piece, unless I don't know something about Andy Warhol.Â
Agreed this is pretty basic and shallow art. Also someone paid thousands to Boston Dynamics for these robo dogs, so not exactly making much of a stand against big tech.
But you haven't considered that billionaires are BAD! My art is provocative and has made you think. Nobody thought this until I had the bravery to say it. What does "masturbatory" mean? I studied art, not English.
I mean we’re talking about it, so the performance is working, I just find it off-putting, like a bad taste in one’s mouth when you eat something unpleasant. Hákarl is an Icelandic national dish and I guess, a delicacy, but it still tastes awful to me.
After watching the video, the whole concept feels shoehorned & muddled. If it's supposed to be commentary on tech billionaires gathering data through awkwardly designed algorithms then why have Warhol & Picasso?
I could see Warhol as its own subject (algorithms commodifying of art of observing the world).
I read this wrong like 10 times so when I finally googled the video because this link didn’t work I was shocked to see human heads lol… was like a jump scare.
I thought it said “human leads” like robot dogs were walking humans with leashes and collars… which would be another statement for an art fair lol
I don't really think buying robotic dogs and buying 3D models of heads is good execution or all that thought provoking. It's more of stuff to do to get attention at a op shallow level.
It’s done well though, and each one is taking pictures and then processing them in a unique way, so it’s not just a bunch of Aibos with mannequin heads superglued bumping into each other in a play pen. The tastefulness of this is a different thing.
What the heck do the photos look like? They poop out the photo that supposedly shows how the person depicted sees the world and yet you won't show a single photo to the camera? Neat exhibit, terrible reporting also doesn't belong in this sub.

Yeh, he was really at odds trying to articulate his way into any deeper meaning there in the interview 🤣Â

Warhols art is empty calories but hes held up on a pedestal.
Warhol was a shitty person, right at home with the likes of Musk and the Zucc.
I think he's there because his art leaned into commercialism and consumerism, and is sought after by rich collectors nowadays.
He sounds so fucking pretentious, at least to me. Just present the thing as-is, no explanation.

Hah good point :-)

Horrifying as it is, this doesn't belong here. Good Art. I especially love the detail that they poop out polaroids.
Great execution, yes, I still find it to be of awful taste.
Because you think it looks horrifying, or because you don't think it successful a a work of art?

This is actually a pretty good modern art.
The way we see the world defines how we act. And these people are defining how we see the world. Pretty terrifying.
My first thought was being reminded of the dog from Invasion of the Body Snatchers

It almost feels like he added those artists in order not to be too controversial. Big mistake imo

Dammit, Beeple, you had to make something even creepier than Old People's Home at the M+ in Hong Kong
imagine walking your pet elondog on the street with a leash.
I can’t even view the video.
